Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
Just crazy how quickly ownership has righted this ship...
Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now ASHBURN, Va. -- The Washington Commanders entered the season both liking their roster and thinking it still needed work. Even a month ago, it's doubtful they would have anticipated doing what they did Tuesday: strengthening their roster for a stretch run. But a 7-2 start accelerated Washington's thinking, resulting in the Commanders sending three draft picks to the New Orleans Saints for former Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore. |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
This is definitely wild. Prior to the season, the best we could hope for was to sneak into playoffs via wildcard. Now, the hope shifts to making it to the SB.

Not even sure a lot of us had playoffs as an apex! More than surprised with this start and very hopeful for the future |

Thanks, understand; So, if we win, I need to post we will win the Superbowl; If we lose, I need to start rambling about picking up the first pick in the draft. Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
I hope we get Lattimore's A game and that changes the complexion of our D. To beat the Eagles at least once, and beat the Steelers and Falcons we need the D at its best. I check nfl.com articles a few times a week (not that I like it but...) and their 'experts' voted 19:6 the Eagles get the division and we'd be lucky with the 5th seed. They're right unless the D becomes top tier. Many thought that would have to wait until next year, but maybe its going to start now?

Injury report said his groin. Hopefully the team doctor can tell the difference!

Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
Exactly 1 year ago I was on boards and the discusson was all about rolling with Howell and naiing down the LT position with the 7th pick in the draft.

Yup and then it crumbled away. I had no idea just how bad Eric Bieniemy would be. Sam, while a flawed QB, was completely set up to fail by EB. Could you imagine JD under him? He would be injured, on he bench by now. You have to be able to run the ball in this league…even though passing offense has come to dominate. |

I just think while the KK/JD matchup is a great one Jayden Daniels is a special player and would be great most anywhere. |

I hope you are right as i believe KK will be a head coach next season or at a minimum the one after. |

I remember watching that game in high school! Glorious. 41-14 Washington. And Dallas didn't have Danny White, but all their other big name players from that era played, and we destroyed them. |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
It will not shock me if he doesn’t play the rest of the season. He’s likely not playing Sunday.

Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
Did someone mention Sam Hamster?
Worst starting qb in NFL history. Absolute trash. |

He never plays. Going on three years of him being healthy half the time. He is really good when healthy but what is that they say about the best ability? |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
I'll be shocked if he doesn't play in the next Philly game, and bummed if he misses our first playoff game.

Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
Has anything been posted anywhere about the type of injury? All I've seen is hamstring. if its a strain, it should be a matter of weeks. If its a tear he should already be on IR.

It’s a hamstring and he has a history of them apparently |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
Last week, Quinn said that the coaches need to see more speed from Lattimore before they allow him to play. Definitely doesn't sound like he's going to be out for a while.

Keim reported on his podcast they were working Lattimore out this week but reporters didn't see him he was in a separate area not to their viewing just let him sit the this week and next doubt we need him |

just let him sit the this week and next doubt we need him
I suspect that’s their plan - he plays in 3 weeks. If he can’t go after the bye, this was a much more serious injury than it seemed as he’d have about 2 months off at that point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
I'd be fine if he sits and makes his debut after the bye week. The Lattimore trade is both a short term and long term investment. He's on contract for two more years and is in his prime.
|
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
They wouldn't have traded for him if they thought his injury was going to keep him out of the majority of the games over the next couple years. I'm more interested in him being 100% next year, than having him for a playoff push we weren't even supposed to be making.
He's a great CB when healthy, but he's not going to be the difference between winning and not winning the Super Bowl this year. There's a lot more work to do with this roster. |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
I think this trade will end up being AP’s first biggest bust. I have no faith in him being healthy for us next year.
You trade for someone of that caliber during the season; you expect him to impact this season. That hasn’t happened. The fact we have still have won without him; shows you the trade was unnecessary during the season. It was a move we could have made in the offseason. |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
It doesn't look good so far, but it's still too early to deem this move as a waste one. Hopefully Lattimore will see that the other players (i.e., Christian Watson & Tee Higgins) are taking action to improve their hamstrings and follow their actions in the offseason.

The first big test was Philly, and he did his job(take care of one side so rest of d could focus on the run). next one will be 1st round. I expect he will be big in the playoffs. Sent from my SM-S711U using Tapatalk
Exactly. We need to be patient. He clearly showed the skills and talent v. Philly. I still think some of the pis on him last week were bs. He's pretty shutdown when healthy. |
Re: Lattimore trade shows Commanders' bright future is now
He had a hammy when they traded for him....they knew he was a A+ talent but knew it would take time for him to recover from the injury......we still have him under contract regardless.....
