2024 Commanders Season Thread (General)

You know what's also nice about being 3-1 is, it's that we have also played 3 of our first 4 games on the road. That's pretty impressive.

Remaining Schedule:

8 home games
5 road games

https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/schedule/_/name/wsh/washington-commanders

Cleveland is a big game for us, because we're on the road at Baltimore the following week (that's going to be a tough one).

Don't take the Fightin' Tuggies for granted. Come out early and try to put them away.

Browns and Ravens will be good test for JD and offense. If we can score multiple TDs against them, then it will mean our offense is 100% legit.

Eager to see what the offense does this week. Cleveland really needs this W. Stefanski's seat may be getting warm.

Re: 2024 Commanders Season Thread (General)

Not to put a downer on the season so far, but there's a question ofc whether we can keep winning this way. Is it sustainable? While the D played much better, they're still a leaky sieve. It needs to be sustained because we're going to come up against D's that will test us more. We have to be able to keep opponents below 20 points if possible for games where the O struggles. And they will struggle.

While I'm not sure we can upgrade the OL at this point (do we need to?), I'd still be looking at edge rushers and CB's if they're available under the right circumstances. Don't sell the farm for benefits now (and Peters won't) but look at an upgrade or 2 to keep the team in the hunt.

Will be going down there to the Cleveland game. Decent seats lower level 40yd line behind our bench. First game in a few years I'm fuckin HYPE

The best thing about sports is you never know what is going to happen. Most thought the OL would be a big issue, it's actually a strength. But it cuts both ways. I never would have believed teams would gut us up the middle when we had Payne, Allen, Wagner, Luvu and Chinn not to mention Newton. I thought the pass rush would be an issue but at least they would be able to stop the run.

I feel our O line is fine, but getting some good pass rushers and more speed anywhere on defense, like another Luvu type….CB will likely be addressed early in the draft and hopefully we land a gem in free agency…let’s see how much our defense improves by years end

Looking forward the cap situation for the team is pretty good. Pick situation too. And now players will actually want to come here, so there's that.

It's almost like Peters personally dislikes 99% of the players Rivera picked. They are dropping like flies.

More like the coaching staff couldn't see anything worth keeping him for and Peters couldn't get any trade interest. I wonder if RR is truly disappointed with his time in DC or he's sitting back laughing at Snyder of paying him so much to deliver so little. Not that anyone under Snyder had much hope.

He did improve the culture as he said when he left, which really wasn't that hard considering how bad it was but still an accomplishment.

Ron did a good job at minimizing the drama in the locker room. Credit for that.

But the team he put together and the amount of winning they did was... undeniably bad. Got us a new owner, new GM, new coach, new roster, and new qb though. I guess in a way we owe him a debt of gratitude. Also the cap situation isn't bad, so at least he lost cheap.

Agree with all this. And he’s a good a decent guy and we needed that in light of the shitweasels that were in leadership and ownership.

We should all be extremely thankful for the state of the franchise currently. Almost doesn't seem real considering how bad it was at one point.

Back to more relevant topics, interesting take from ESPN about trade deadline target. I'd be all for a trade to bring Kendall back:

Which player should they target?
Dolphins cornerback Kendall Fuller. How does a second reunion with Fuller sound for Washington? The Commanders need help at corner; they rank 31st in the NFL in defensive open score against wide receivers (via ESPN's receiver scores). Benjamin St-Juste has given up 2.0 yards per coverage snap -- fifth most among corners with at least 100 coverage snaps this season, per NFL Next Gen Stats. With Daniels at the helm, Washington has no time to waste. It has a chance to make a real playoff run, and having a more palatable defense would really help. Fuller would help stabilize a weak position for Washington. -- Walder

I feel like this is more of a trap game than the past 2 weeks have been. Jayden half healthy or no jayden just worries me with this game. Don't have a good feeling lol. Fuckin bears we've had shit luck vs them recently too.

Re: 2024 Commanders Season Thread (General)

I wouldn't say it was a trap game as JD or no JD, the Bears are 4-2 and can't be viewed as an easy win, or even favoured. They are getting better, but their run D is weak. We need to run it down their throats and keep Williams off the field. We need possession and hopefully force a turnover or two. But I do hope JD is good to go; we don't want any nerves, and Mariota always seems hot and cold to me.

I just meant in the current climate, the way our season is going and magically they bounced back to a similar record etc.. not necessarily the team the bears just this whole situation and scenario you know? Got that eerie feel to me ugh.

We're getting zero respect for today's game. The entire panel on "The Other Pregame Show" via CBS Sports Network picked the Bears. Adam Schein, the show's host, said, "If Daniels were playing or not--even he was or wasn't 100%--I'd still pick the Bears."

I wanna kick the Bears in their nuts and then castrate 'em.

This week the Steelers and Eagles games will be on Sky TV over here. That will be the 4th and 5th games I've been able to watch live. I can't remember the last time I saw more than 3 games live in a season! I would never have expected it up to last year. And who knows what the situation will be with the last few games if we are challenging for the East title, if not a top seed by then. Is this what Patriots fans felt like for years? What Chiefs fans feel like now?

I just came on to post that tomorrow's game is on SKY, just in case you hadn't already sussed it. Said to my missus this morning "you can tell when we're doing well when we're on the telly so much". Long may it continue!

On a side note... you can stream all the games live (illegally) just get yourself a Firestick off Amazon to plug in to your TV , then you'll need an IPTV App from a provider (I may know someone) costs about £50 per year, install a VPN so the Broadcasters can't block you and you're away.

Bit of a faff at first (especially for technophobes like me) but works like clockwork, you can watch literally any channel from around the world, all the UK football (soccer) etc.

That's awesome. And with Jayden, you can probably get used to this. We're partying like it's 1989. We're fucking back baby. You should be getting to watch a lot more games than usual for another 10+ seasons.

I admit that at first I thought they settled with Quinn and having seen the Giants inability to develop offensive linemen after spending so much draft capital on the problem I still think it was fair to question that hire as well. But I stopped at 2 as well, never believed the other 2 and before camp I had come around and supported the Quinn hiring.
