Re: Post draft wrap/grades
I like the draft. Don't love it. B for me.
I do like that we drafted/signed a bunch of team captains and guys that had some real nice athletic testing scores as well. Really though, if Daniels proves to be a baller, the draft will be an A down the road, even if every other player sucks. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
I gave it an "A" for the sole reason that this is the first time, in 25+ years, in which Dan Snyder has not influence a QB decision for this team.

We shouldn't lose sight of just how epic that is |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
If Coleman proves to be even a serviceable Tackle, then my grade goes from a B to an A+
|
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Gave it an A.
We seem to have competent pro-level football talent evaluators (Peters/Quinn). Rivera, Hurney, and Mayhew, were horrible. Missed on too many Day 1-2 picks. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Initial impressions are B - hesitant to give an A even though Ruh made one hell of an argument for an A haha.
I would've liked more offensive line attention than just a project guard/tackle, but if the prospects weren't there they weren't there. Team needed help everywhere, we were the 2nd worst team in the NFL last year. So hard to say you don't like the picks when literally every spot on the roster can use improvement. Looking forward to 3 years from now when we can properly grade Peters' initial draft class. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Gave it a B but really think B+.
Bummer we could not get a LT in the 2nd round but grateful we didn't sell the farm to move up to get it. We needed help almost everywhere so hopefully some of the picks can contribute right away but a few make take a year.. |

He was definitely BPA and they had no idea he would be available at 36. Really, they had to take him. Then that pick shifts everything else around. |

Also, First non Dan Snyder coaching staff! I never give "A's" but they get one this year. I'm excited to see how the season turns out. I have no expectations simply because I want to actually enjoy the season for once. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Sticking to best player available and the JD pick was amazing and really marks a change with the organization
We should be excited And yet I’m worried about tackle, but I feel with the new folks making decisions we will be ok |

Redskins was too awesome, and Commanders is too shitty. We have to take another swing at a name that doesn't suck all of the cocks in hell. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
I gave it a C. I’m a teacher so if you do what the rubric says you get a C. Have to go above and beyond to get a B or A which is tough to do with the second pick. I like the Newton pick in 2nd the more I hear but not really addressing OL keeps it a C for me.

This draft will come down to Daniels and if he becomes a franchise qb. Love the remaining picks. Newton and Sainistril add attitude to the defense and both are studs. Hoping oline wasn't neglected, although Coleman has talent. Give the draft a B. Needed another stud olineman for an A. Still happy with the draft. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
I graded by the draft not the roster needs, hence A. Will it be a A in 3 years, who knows, but right now it looks like one of our best ever drafts.
Q - do you think they didn't get a trade back into the 1st because a) they got no interest or b) they weren't prepared to pay the price? I think it's b) and if I'm right I have more respect for the new staff as a result. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Solid B with a chance to turn into an A+, or a D, or a C, C-,C+, B+. B -, D+, or F depending on how everyone we drafted pans out. Lol.

This is how I feel :) Today I think the draft was pretty damn good. In two years we'll have a better indication. Tough to not be excited about the possibilities though, and the direction we seem to be heading. |

Re: Post draft wrap/grades
I’m sure a lot of teams wanted to get back into the first round, the draft was pretty top heavy with the first 50-60 picks. Trading up was going to come at a premium.

wow! great analysis Switzerland that analysis could be for every draft class for every team in every sport in the history of the world |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Saban said that the best pound for pound player was the kid from Michigan. That's high praise coming from someone like him. Then you add in Daniels, the d tackle, o-linemen and the TE. I think they did an outstanding job. You had to get a pure TE and they got one. Dude is an athlete. No more John Bates or the skinny kid that can't block. Outstanding draft on paper. A-.
I was hoping they would grab Trotter's kid. Can not believe he lasted until the 5th round. That is nuts. |

Re: Post draft wrap/grades
I voted a grade of B which would have been a B+ if I had the option. Getting JD and Johnny Newton represent most of the value to me because I think both of them will be stars in the NFL.

Re: Post draft wrap/grades
Adam Peters says Brandon Coleman can play tackle in the NFL, and @dpbrugler agrees: "Brandon Coleman was one of my favorite picks...I think he was a little bit of a discount because he was banged up...To get him in the 3rd round is good value."

- JP Finlay
Sure hope Peters is correct on this one. Would have loved to have gotten more olinemen in the draft. It would be a home run if Coleman could end up a good starting tackle for us. A lot of intrigue around this pick and how the unit needs help. |

- JP Finlay
Ben Standig at The Atlantic posted a chart on the Relative Athletic Score for Coleman and it's nearly identical to that of Trent Williams. They are the same height and weight, Trent did better in the 40 (4.8 vs. 4.9 but a LT running 40 yards...eh), their 20 and 10 yard splits, vertical and broad jump and shuttle were nearly identical with Coleman doing better in the 3 cone (7.4 vs 7.6). Obviously a tall bar, but if he can approach that level of play, outstanding. |

There is one similarity they do not share which is the one that would prevent me from comparing him to Trent, or even approaching Trent. Trent was a helluva OT in college. |

Still holding out hope that he does change the name. I would prefer the Washington Suck all the cocks in hell football team as opposed to Commanders. I still can’t say it in conversation. I usually say, The Reds… Football team Commander whatever the hell they are called. I can’t say Commanders. |
Re: Post draft wrap/grades
still a fan of Washington FC or (washington) football team myself. very ron swanson.
