Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Not necessarily FA news but Mac Jones traded to the Jaguars for a 6th. WOW
I remember wanting us to take him so badly. Yet another reason why I have no clue about what makes a great qb at draft time. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Somebody needs to educate me because I have no idea why the Jags would want Mac Jones.
Somebody needs to educate me because I have no idea why the Jags would want Mac Jones.
you have to have a back up that can play at some level.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
You gotta have a backup qb. Mac Jones is just as good as any rookie qb they'd use that 6th round pick on.
I'm not opposed to holding onto Howell for this reason. He already has starting experience and riding the bench for a couple seasons might do him some good. But if we can get a 3rd or 2nd for him take it and run. |

Russ to Steelers. https://sports.yahoo.com/russell-wilsons-hurried-deal-with-steelers-may-say-a-lot-about-his-intentions-and-pittsburghs-053652799.html

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Russ is washed.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Mac Jones now begins his NFL journey as a career backup.
Denver is paying Wilson $38M to not play for them. Amazing how far he's fallen. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Russ is not the player he once was, but I don't think he's done. Pittsburgh will be relevant this year. He's not in Denver anymore due to Sean Payton's arrogance. That was a relationship that was failed from the start.

Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Higgins wants to be traded. I'm actually surprised by this cuz there were talks about Burrow, Chase and Higgins wanting to stay together but I suppose Bengals have different plans.
And no, I'm not saying that we should trade for him. I personally like Higgins but we have other needs that need to be filled urgently this year. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Russ gets 38 million from Denver, plus whatever the Steelers pay him, gets away from Payton and is in a better landing spot. Sounds like he's still winning.

Bears sign Swift for 8m py, alot for a RB.
Ian Rapoport The #Bears are expected to sign former #Eagles starting RB D’Andre Swift as their new starting running back, per me and @MikeGarafolo. He gets a 3-year, $24M deal
|

Winning at the bank, sure. His reputation sure has taken a hit these last 2 years. |

The Steelers win some with putatively BAD QBs. I think they made a decent move here, because it costs them so little to have a guy who is decent and experienced. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
I'd like to see the Commanders "fix" some position groups for the next five or more years via FA by signing good young players. For starters I would like to spend big on two players who can anchor our defense and offense, respectively. I'm looking at Patrick Queen (24) at LB and Mike Onwenu (26) at RT. We'll need some less expensive players in FA, as well. I like Dorance Armstrong (26) at Edge and Andrew Van Ginkel at LB/Edge. These moves could get us most of the way at LB and Edge and lock down the right side of our OL.
In addition, we could add some quality older vets on one or two year deals at positions of immediate need such as LT, C, LG, or CB. This would also move us closer to being able to implement a BPA draft strategy or to move up in the draft to grab another young starter. |

I'm sure he'll be in Andrew Brandt's Business of Football Hall of Fame list, along with Kirk Cousins. |

Ok, things are moving

The crazy shit of he had his own office in Denver was absurd. Just amazingly dumb shit by the Broncos. |

Experienced, yes. But I'm convinced he is jaded and over the hill. I don't think he will be a positive influence in the locker room, either. I think the Steelers are about to make another cheap and ineffective move at QB. |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Little surprised RB was the first couple signings of the FA period.

Seems like McNabb 2.0 |

.
This is great News! Armstrong should have been a starter in Dallas. He's young (26), very talented, and I believe he'll be a star here. |

I think he will be pretty decent in Pittsburgh. Everyone is ripping on him, but he did throw for a decent amount of yards considering he was not playing the last few games, completed 67% of his passes with 26TB to 9 picks . . . that is far better than what Pittsburgh got out of their QB last year and they won 10 games. I think this is a very good fit, especially with the fact that it will only cost them a $1.2 million cap charge. |

He can still play and he's better than what they've got, but the red flags are there with two teams now pushing him out of town |
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
This is a bit of a stunner. Don't they have a good RB already?
@RapSheet The #Packers are expected to sign Josh Jacobs, source tell me and @TomPelissero . |

Bryce Huff to the Iggles:
@AdamSchefter Jets free-agent DE Bryce Huff is signing a three-year, $51.1 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles once free agency opens, per sources. The deal will make Huff the highest-paid non-QB undrafted free agent in NFL history, per sources. |

Out of all the destinations, I think this was the best for him. A run-first team, with receiving talent. NFC South is going to be interesting this season. |

Saquon Barkley to the Eagles
|
Re: Around the NFL - FA tampering/start
Wow
Adam Schefter Former Giants RB Saquon Barkley reached agreement with the Philadelphia Eagles on a three-year, $37.75 million contract that could be worth up to $46.75M and includes $26M fully guaranteed at signing, per sources. Barkley now beats the franchise tag number and has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.833M, which would be second highest for a RB in NFL History.
|
