2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
The 2 best teams in each conference made it to the championship round.
I am excited about this Sunday. This should just be a damn good day to watch football. If Burrow beats Mahomes again in the playoffs to reach the Super Bowl, that's really going to be something. Both those guys are absolute studs. Both those teams are lucky. They'll be competitive for at least another 5 years just by having those guys. Whoever wins that game has my Super Bowl vote. If its 49ers vs. Bengals/Chiefs, it will be a good weekend. |

I’m pulling for the Bengals and San Fran matchup in the Super Bowl
Bengals need to sign Vontaze Burfict this week to come in and rip off Mahomes leg first play of the game |

He'll play. He may not practice all week, but he'll play. Still I think the Bengals are too strong all round, especially their D, and they'll come out on top. I'm hoping the 49ers win for multiple reasons. Depends on Purdy. Had a poor game but key was he avoided turnovers. Their D will likely put them in position to win, but it'll be up to Purdy to put points on the board. Eagles won't be poor like the Cowboys. |
Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
Let's go 49ers and I don't care who wins the AFC - I like both teams.
If Mahomes plays he's one tough SOB - we'll see if Reid keeps a short leash on him if he can't play at his normal high level. |
Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
We are all finally in agreement on this board together:
Eagles lose Niners Win |

Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
IF the Eagles can shutdown the 49ers running game, its all over. That will leave Purdy having to win it.
The Eagles lead the NFL with 70 sacks this season, the second place team has 55 sacks. Not even close. Plus the Eagles secondary is no joke. The Eagles defense is as good as the 49er defense. The Eagles offense with Hurts back and their physical run game, I rate higher than Purdy against the Eagles defense. Plus an east coast game could be potentially cold game. It will be a good game. But I think Eagles will win. |

Hurts is a different QB this year, he’s really put it together. It will be tough for the 49ers |

15 Snaps 1 Pressure His total : 34 Snaps 1 Pressure Dude is the GOAT
“He’s one of the better tackles but that’s what I look for is best on best,” Parsons said. “So I want Trent’s best game ever, and he’s going to get my best game ever.” “The bigger the stage, the bigger the player, right?” Parsons said. https://atozsports.com/dallas/micah-parsons-is-fully-embracing-playoff-matchup-vs-the-49ers/ Early in the 1Q he pulled to the way inside, like other side of the box so fast. Never seen a tackle asked to pull/move that far over to the inside. Big boy moves Parsons talks a lot but I dont mind it, hes a really good player, motivated but even Cowboys fans will agree hes not the second coming of Lawrence Taylor like they thought |
Re: 2023 Conference Championship Round Thread
Parsons has just finished his 2nd season. Its a little early to define his career either way. Anyway the Cowgirls are out of it, so why are we even discussing them in a conference championship thread? Though i do like the memes doing the rounds this week😁
Have to say, both games are hard to call. I'm sticking with 49ers v Bengals in the SB, but you can't write off any of the 4. If the Eagles D snuffs out the 49ers running game I'm not sure Purdy can carry the O on his shoulders, but Shanny will have that O prepped to the max so I'd still lean towards them winning. Bengals D is the difference in the AFC. If I had to bet, I'd back them to shut Mahomes down especially if his ankle is a weakness. I think that sets up a possibly great SB regardless of which NFC team wins. |

The niners have enough weapons that I'd not be surprised if they win either. Both conf finals should be good games! |

The LT talk was premature, just like the CY bust talk is.

I hate comparisons. Especially ones that have like 25 years separating them. But here i go. It is such a different game. BB and BP were a combination of Coaches you will never see again. Taylor had a really great complimentary team around him.
After 41 games LT had 28 sacks. After 33 games Parsons has 26.5. On pace to beat his mark at 41 games no doubt. Revisit this conversation in ten years. Parsons dominating just like LT did so far. So far. They are extremely similar except for one thing….LT dominated for a long time. But so far Parsons is on track. Just curious for people who say that he isn’t LT, and the comparisons were silly, what hasn’t Parsons done to make you a believer? |

Bout as stupid as Scott Rolen getting inducted into the Hall. I am really praying for a SF win this weekend. I think now I’m rooting for the Chiefs to win it all. Eli Apple is just a douche and I hope he gets burned over and over. Should be two really good games. Pretty excited. |

He may end up being great. He's on a great pace overall, but will OCs figure him out, and take him out of the equation? That doesn't happen to dudes like LT. LT was they guy OCs knew they had to have a plan for, and it didn't matter. Is Parsons that guy? Maybe, but it's just too early. He had 12 sacks through 11 games this year, then he had 1.5 sacks the next six games. Why? He may be the next LT, or he may be the next LA (Lavar Arrington), but right now it's too early to tell, and the comparisons are silly as you said. |

I don’t think you can figure out speed and strength. Could have just been scheming I know they move him around alot. He has amazing speed and amazing strength for a LB just like LT. I would give up the farm to have him playing behind our D line. He would have 20 sacks a year. |

Purdy didn't look good last week and McCaffery wasn't the same after tweaking his leg. Philly at home is going to be too much for SF and wins easily, maybe by over 2 TDs. Cincy's D is really good and since Mahommes isnt 100% I think he will be kept in control. For whatever reason, Cincy seems to play well against KC. This game will be closer but the outcome will never be in doubt. |

I don't think anything will come easy against that SF defense.

Right now I'd lean Cincy and SF. Both in tight games.

Former Colts’ HC Frank Reich is being named the new head coach of the Carolina Panthers. Reich now returns to the franchise he quarterbacked in 1995. |

Great move for Carolina.
I honestly truly think Irsay wanted to tank this year .. and it worked. Team lost their final 7, picking 4th overall with 4 top 10 QB prospects on the board. Colts and Manders both missed the playoffs. One is picking a franchise QB .. the other is probably going to go 7-10 next year. |

Hopefully we won't have that problem anymore. Also, this is hilarious: @Schultz_Report Sources: Jim Irsay’s No. 1 choice for HC remains Jeff Saturday, while others in the #Colts’ front office prefer different leading candidates. Saturday, I’m told, presented his staff choices during his 2nd interview on Wednesday. Irsay has not sat in on most interviews. @theScore Irsay gunning for worst owner spot after Snyder is gone. |

Agreed. Bobby Petrino might be #2. Punch I feel like if you're firing your coach midseason the season is a lost cause anyways. I can't remember the last time a midseason-entering HC won anything of note anyways. At least not in the NFL. |

I know both of them were bad but I really didn't pay much attention to them because they weren't the skins but IMO it is hard to beat Zorn.

The 'Ol Ball Coach (Spurrier) didn't really acquit himself either. We've had some clunkers. But we're hardly alone. The Eagles had Chip Kelly and Rich Kotite. The Cowboys had Chan Gaily and Dave Campo. The Giants had Joe Judge and Ben McAdoo. Even just within our division, you could find some pretty bad coaches. By Urban Meyer seems like the most buffoonish to me, and Pederson's success the year after proves it. |

They're gonna inject enough painkillers into his ankle to make a horse numb. I'd bet $100 he plays. He might not play well but he plays. |
