Around the NFL Week 18
More important than everything else combined, here's to Hamlin pulling thru and making a full recovery.
In terms of the NFC race, I'm hoping the Rams can somehow beat Seattle, and Lions beat Green Bay. |
Re: Around the NFL Week 18
Hamlin seems to be doing better thank god.
As far as playoffs I could care less who wins. Eagles and Dallas are the only 2 teams I don’t want winning Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Around the NFL Week 18
I know its not top priority right now, but I'm struggling to see how the league deals with the postponed game. It won't happen before this weekends slate of games, but then the weekend after is the wildcard round. Fit in another game without detriment to either team in the playoffs days later? I can't see how they can push the post season back a week, excepting losing the pre-SB week off, and even then there are so many other impacts of doing that; can they reschedule the SB given all the financial and logistical impacts? I can't help but think they'll end up putting it down to a tie.

No way the super bowl gets moved. They'll either just not play the game or have to push the playoffs back a week and no longer have the extra week off. |

its weird because the 506 maps are even held up https://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2022&wk=18 |
Re: Around the NFL Week 18
Bob Costas opined last night on CNN that the postponed game would likely not get played; that winning percentage would be used to determine seeds. This makes more sense than ripping up the postseason schedule.

As far as the Eagles and Cowboys are concerned.... Ditto. I'll add the Giants as well. Hell! Frankly, the entire NFC with the exception of the winner of the Lions/Packers game. Yeah, I'm hatin' on the NFC because I'm feeling salty, lol. |

Postponing a week of football is a little dramatic imo … I hope they don’t do that

Showing signs of improvement into Wednesday is awesome. Hope he makes a full and total recovery. It seems as though that is a definite possibility at this point. And yeah his charity up over 6 mil right now. Had a 2,500 dollar goal when started. That is just awesome. |

Based on the way the team have been playing, I kinda expect to see them in the conference championship game. |
Re: Around the NFL Week 18
SF has won an impressive nine games in a row. Since Purdy became the starter, the are averaging over 32 points per game while allowing 21. However, they gave up 34 points against Stidham's Raiders... That's concerning if I'm Kyle.
GB has won four in a row averaging over 29 points per game while allowing only 17. DET has won three of their last four averaging over 29 points per game while allowing just over 21. While DET beat GB in week 9 (15-9), I am going with GB this weekend, and I would not sleep on them in these playoffs. |

Re: Around the NFL Week 18
The rumor is the NFL is considering adding an 8th seed to each Conference this year to make up for the Bills Bengals issue. We would still be alive lol

Just a question, what if that game ended in a tie? Would they still do that? |

Re: Around the NFL Week 18
I know a man's life is more important than anything, and I know Skip Bayless got roasted for asking out loud the question pretty much every body was asking themselves a bit too soon...
But now that the discussion is on the table: what do you guys think about this 8 teams playoffs solution becoming the most likely ? I don't have a definitive opinion. I didn't think the suppression of the bye week before the SB was that bad of an option. But I still like this 8 teams option better than determining seed randomly or with winning percentage. |

Call it a tie and go from there. Any AFC teams complaining about a situation that came from a player dying on the field, and miraculously being saved, can STFU. I don't understand why some mediocre team gets added to the playoffs because 2 legitimate playoff teams didn't get to finish their game due to a 1 in a million chance outside of everyone's control. |

Re: Around the NFL Week 18
If the game was played and Buffalo won they would be number 1 seed and have a bye. No reschedule and they are likely the 2 seed and no bye. I think that is a legitimate issue. But if Buffalo has no interest in a reschedule then they must be content with 2 seed?

So it will effect Buffalo only? That's the best case scenario. Not because they deserve anything bad to happen to them because of what happened to Hamlin. But solely to make it have the smallest impact as possible on the league as a whole. They'll still smoke the 1st team they play. But will hurt them in the championship round if Kansas City wins their divisional round game. There is no perfect solution. And there can't be to such an unprecedented situation. Adding an 8th team would eliminate the bye for 2 teams. |
Re: Around the NFL Week 18
I don't understand how adding an 8th seed fixes anything. Either call it a tie, or go strictly off of winning percentage and call it a day.
|
Re: Around the NFL Week 18
yeah, I'd just say game didn't happen, go off percentages and that's that.

Adding an 8th team would eliminate the bye for 2 teams.
It would also potential effect Baltimore, who could win the north if Cincy loses but no bye is on the line there. I think adding an 8th and thus eliminating the bye for the 1 seed seems reasonable as that is the primary advantage to getting the one. seed. They are also saying a potential neutral AFC champ site? That would be reasonable as well. Like you said no perfect solutions. |
Re: Around the NFL Week 18
Looks like the scheduling is all figured out.

https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/35392368/nfl-approves-plan-possible-neutral-site-afc-title-game
Makes sense. Thinking back, that 8 teams solutions was over the top, just for seeding and home field advantage blowing the whole playoffs schedule up didn't make a lot of sense. The tie option had the advantage of being simple and super easy to understand. I think this option is a good balance of limiting the impact of the non contest in terms of competitive advantage, and not having any dramatic impact on the playoffs schedule/structure. |
