Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Week 1 we faced the 2022 1st overall pick in Travon Walker.
Week 2 .. we face 1.2 pick Aidan Hutchinson (1 tackle vs Eagles) |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
The Lions have some talent on O, Their D is very bad though other than Hutchinson.
I think Wentz has another 300 yard game and we pull it out in the 4th QTR. 30 - 24 |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Dan Campbell will not abandon the run like the Jags did…it will be the focal point of their offense.
Stopping the run on first and second down and forcing them into 3rd and longs will be key. LB need to come to play…Forrest needs to get his pop-on Swift. I imagine if Curl back then Forrest slides into the Buffalo nickel |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Feels nice to be 1-0. 2-0 would be twice as nice and I'd feel positive that the team is actually improved from last year.
I know, I know, it's only been 1 week, but our schedule looks easier than it did on paper prior to the year. I'd favor the Eagles over us next week, but I think we are at least a push, if not the favorite, in the following 3 vs Cowboys, Titans, Bears. Doesn't mean we can't lose all 3, but I'll be expecting us to win at least 2 of those 3. |

First time Lions favored in 24 games. Hope the team is fully aware of this. Suddenly appears the division is up for grabs. Cowboys are done with Dak being out, Eagles defense didn’t exactly look like the Steel curtain as their fan base thought it would. This is a game we have to win. Cant lose to sub par teams. Of course they have beaten us 5 out of the last 6 so who are we to call them sub par. [emoji1750] |

Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
I think people (in general) use the previous year's results too much when factoring in the schedule and how easy or hard it will be. I think this year's schedule will turn out to be more difficult than it appears on paper.
There are usually no "easy outs" in the NFL, and that includes this week against Detroit. |

Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
To me, its not about looking at the schedule and finding "easy" wins. This is the NFL, I don't think there are easy wins. It's looking at recent results + offseason additions and finding games that should be reasonably winnable. This is a winnable game. And most Detroit fans likely think the same thing about us.
Should be winnable does not mean we will win. But I like our chances. |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
If we can stop the run -- and Swift looked, well swift against the Eagles -- we should be OK. But they are going to come in fired up after feeling robbed last week, and it will be smashmouth football all day. Stop the run, win the game. Goff and their receivers aren't scary.

We keep the foot on the pedal and not go conservative. |

I was reading that pre season the lions Oline is decent. Our guys up front gotta occupy them and then LB have to clean up. so I’m worried….Davis and Holcomb gotta show up. Both played like shit last week |

No practice for Frank Ragnow today in Detroit, per Dan Campbell. [Edit] From Twitter Not spotted at Lions practice: RB D’Andre Swift OL Taylor Decker (later walked out in street clothes) OL Tommy Kraemer OL Frank Ragnow |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Wow -- that's a lot of folks responsible for their running game all out at once. Cannot count on this of course as it's only Wednesday, and I cannot bring myself to root for guys to be hurt and out of the lineup in any event.

That bunch formation is sweet
Yeah Quads is very rare to run in the NFL. Turner looks like an actual OC with the guys we have |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Gibson is a bad ass WR out of the backfield. He looked like a legit NFL receiver catching that deep corner down the sideline.

That dude is a special athlete , if he fixes the fumbles look out. |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Jamin Davis was put in coverage 6 times
He gave up 4 Rec for 62 yards and 2 first downs.. He is a liability in coverage |

Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Run D .. we gave up 123 yards on 18 carries (6.8 avg)
Was it LBs not hitting holes/getting washed out? D line getting pushed back on initial push? From what i could tell in highlights .. our LBs just got blanketed and never got off the initial blocks. Jags rookie LB Devin Lloyd had 11 tackles, LB Oloukun had 10 ... Holcomb played every snap and had 5. ------------ Bostic needs to be in there for run D but we need to make sure he doesnt play on 3rd and more than 5/avoid any match up against a TE or back. |

I didn't understand why every got so down on the guy after a fumble in a pre season game. He is everything you want in a back in today's NFL. |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Should be a fun game to watch. It'll be close and there will probably be a lot of points. Scott needs to stay aggressive.

It's still scary as hell when he goes between the tackles. But I'm all for getting him the ball in space as much as possible. But the fumbling will be a concern until he proves it isn't. |

He is a liability in coverage
I was listening to Ron the other day and he was saying how great an athlete he is so he should be fine in coverage. That doesn't make you a coverage guy and the results speak for themselves. I'd just put Davis in there on 3rd down or passing downs and blitz him or ask him to spy on mobile QB's. He should be able to do those things and stop asking him to do things he's not good at. To me that is on Ron and Del Rio. If he can't cover a back then there is no way he can cover a NFL slot wr. |

I don't know that anyone was down on him due to the preseason fumble - only. The dude led all RBs with fumbles last year. He got six carries in the preseason, and one of those ended up being a turnover. It's definitely a problem. He's a fantastic athlete though, seems to be a great receiver, and can contribute in many ways. He just doesn't need to be running between the tackles too often. I hold my breath every time he gets the hand off. Can't wait until B Rob is back. |

Because everyone was hoping his fumble issues were behind him…until he touched the ball again? |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
I think we're going to stomp the Lions. We haven't even begun to see what this offense of ours can do.
|
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
Time goes by fast. Already Thursday. Only a few more days until we take command, lol. I still hate that line so much.

I found it so corky at first. But it's starting to gain on me a little bit. My issue is I still don't know how you sing the "new" fight song, too many syllables to fit the same melody... |

This is a great point! Does this really make sense to put a LB on their fastest WR?? Especially multiple times! How often was Urlacher lined up to cover Desean Jackson?? It's just dumb. |

So what? I think we're going to score 35 points or more in this game. Wentz's confidence should be way up and I think he's ready to distribute the ball all over the place for big play after big play. We have so much offensive talent that we're bound to run some team out of the stadium. This is the week. There is one caveat; that is, the only one who can keep us under 35 points is Ron Rivera. |

Why not play 7 DB's? We've got some DB's who can play the run and they're bound to cover receivers better than our LB's. Some of our DB's are hard hitters, too. We might even get some turnovers if we play them. Fuller, Jackson, St-Juste, Curl, Forrest, Reaves, and Butler. |
Re: Pre game Thread - Commanders at Lions Sun 1 pm
I feel like we will put up points against this Lions Defense…we need our defense to step up.
We will Skins: 33 Lions:24 |
