WFT already losing the bye week with this news.

I'm just wondering how he broke his jaw. Did he land jaw first on the field? Was it an o-lineman that hit him wrong?

Get well soon - I think we can readjust our already low expectations for CY99 with Sweat out for a month.

It's fine, that just helps the cause of getting a top 5 pick.. No shot they beat Tampa, Panthers is winnable but we'll prob lose since its on the road. 2-8 with Russell Wilson most likely coming back means 2-9 lol. I Don't see how this team wins 4 games total right now

I doubt they do. My buddy at week (eagles fan...eagles country where I live...) said he thinks we'll split. I said no way...after them running the score on detroit...I think we lose both those games. Only other winnable game is ny...and I think they take the dub. I can see us being 2-15. Maybe we randomly take one somewhere. But 3-14 is our ceiling.

*One of the least unlikely that we somehow have a shot (and still end up blowing it anyway)

But the Panthers as it stands are better than us. 4-4 team including a win against the Saints. Way better than us.

A few things. Rivera's decision not to bring in kickers over the bye week is incomprehensible.

J Davis played in 79% of the defensive snaps. I think that's huge. I know some was due to injuries but hopefully he is gaining confidence on the field. I have seen some plays where he flashed.

CY99 had over 90 in pff for running defense. That is where he shined last year too. He was in the 50s on pass plays. That's terrible, and with Sweat out I think he will be exposed even more.


Finally, how are we 2-6, and not seeing substantial changes over the bye. I really think Ron has decided to tank, even if he can't admit it.

Ok, busy week, slow day, I went back I watched the All 22 of our defense in this game.

Here are some random plays I thought were interesting, quite a lof of them are good plays, but[I] I don't think this was an overall very good performance[/I].
FYI, the Broncos went:
- 13 plays 42 yards Punt (drive derailed by a penalty, a sack, and another penalty)
- 7 p 38 y FG
- 9 p 75 y TD
- 8 p 19 y P
- 4 p 5 y P
- 12 p 30 y missed FG (drive stumbled after a lucky sack when Bridgewater was tripped by his center)
- 9 p 63 y TD (D went full creamy Brillat Savarin mode on this drive)
- 3 p 1 y Fumble

That's [I]2 legit dominant stops[/I] on 7 meaningful possession. Not good enough.

Judging by the reaction, I suspect the block pushed his shoulder pad into his jaw, under his helmet. Had similar when a hit pushed mine into my neck, but just caused bruising. Looks like a really unlucky contact, not hands to the face.

And if we were most other franchises id look at that as a stepping stone. But honestly we could have the top five picks in the draft and I still would feel like we will either fuck up the picks or their careers. Im literally out of hope for this franchise. It runs so much deeper than just the players.

I feel like Ron just gets a pass. Its the OC’s fault. Its the DC’s fault. It is the backup quarterbacks fault. Ron seems extremely stonefaced during games. Doesn’t like to cut people. Doesn’t like to make changes. He was supposed to bring some sort of culture change. Didn’t know and still don’t know what that is about. He just slaps on headphones and stares into oblivion every week and than says things that scream unawareness after every game. I can’t with this guy anymore. It is borderline fraud.

Honestly not sure what the concern is. Other than reviewing the film from the week before, teams are always on to the next game. During the bye week is when they have the time to take a bigger picture view of the season so far. What am I missing?

That's dated Monday. Bye week started Monday, so it's not really news. Post game film review and set up for the weeks practices doesn't really allow much time to do proper season to date evaluation on every play/player to this point. Using the bye week to devote that extra time to it makes sense; not having already started it on Sunday isn't a surprise.

What's disappointing is the lack of play call adjustment to date, even just incremental changes. That doesn't take a full evaluation. If a play keeps getting stuffed, a coverage keeps getting burnt, etc. then stop calling it! Playbooks are big enough now to remove redundant plays without breaking your whole O/D.

How are you not fine tooth combing and evaluating everything from every damn game? You are an NFL coach. You get paid millions to pay attention to every detail. Find the time to do so or gtfo.

No way. You hear all the time about coaches spending every second looking at film and working tirelessly. Not just on the current game but on every little detail. Ron is just oblivious man. Not the first head scratching comment he has made. And our play is a reflection of this lack of detail. If Gruden said this we would be marching with torches. I know we all want to like Ron. He is a good guy. There is a reason he is headed towards his 8th losing season out of 11. Nice guy or not he is just cashing checks. Whatever I aint gonna say anymore. People like Ron. Thats great. Lets party with him. He is a terrible HC.

I'm sorry, but that 2nd hand statement doesn't alarm me.

The haters will interpret it as - Ron and the coaching staff haven't been evaluating anything during the first half of the season.

Everyone else will likely interpret it as - the bye week just started, and we haven't evaluated everything that has transpired over the first eight weeks yet, but have plans to do just that during this bye week.

You're totally misunderstanding it.

No teams are in constant season long evaluation mode. They are always prepping for the next opponent. Once they review the game film from the previous week, which coaches usually do on Mondays, it's on to the next week and prepping for that game. Nobody has the time to pour over game film from week 1 when you're getting ready for a week 9 game. Should they be prepping for the draft now too?

It isn’t about going back to week one during week 9. Hopefully you did your week one work back than. The statement he made is a very blanket statement. “We haven’t evaluated anything from first 8 weeks”. Huh? Even if Ron somehow made me understand that statement it falls directly under things u dont say when you are as bad and seemingly unprepared as we are.
I know that the primary focus during the season is the upcoming game after Mondays film session but Matty you are telling me as a HC that is it? You are not evaluating your team as you go? Not thinking about roster moves, or changes, or anything else? It rings extremely oblivious to me.
I want a HC who is constantly evaluating his team. Constantly looking at strengths and weaknesses and dead weight and free agents and everything all the time. Ron has plenty of time to plan for the upcoming game while evaluating the team. Im sorry if he doesn’t than gtfo.

Non issue. You're twisting this to feed into your dislike for him. Plenty of things worth criticizing, this is silly. When they watch the previous week's games as they go, that's evaluating the first 8 weeks.

I dont need this simple statement to convince myself or others Ron is not a good coach. His losing seasons speak volumes about that.

This statement is just the cherry on top. Like I said, when your team is never prepared and you continually say things like “we need to figure stuff out” well than this is going to draw some attention. At the very very least you have to admit this isn’t the best possible thing u can utter at this point. Im obviously not on an island here. When he does get around to evaluating this team I suggest he takes a long hard look in the mirror.

Apparently this board not only thinks that is the case but it is the proper way to do things. Lol. Everyone can call me a Ron hater. Im a big boy. We all wanted/want him to succeed. But he was fired for a reason- losing, and will be fired again for losing. It sucks. Sometimes the truth sucks.

We do reviews all the time at work. There is different levels.

The evaluation i believe Ron be referring too we would call in my office as a "deep dive"; we even have "atomic deep dives" which literally make my eyes roll out of my head.

Those dives are done quarterly or bi yearly. Otherwise we are reviewing data and moving along.

Nobody has time for deep dive evaluations on a weekly basis. It's what the bye week is for.

Have we talked about Chase Roullier's injury?

When we cut Keith Ismael (2020 5th rounder) in favor of 30 year old Tyler Larsen I had to talk myself into liking it thinking we are trying to win this year and if Chase gets hurt, we decided to go short term w the 30 year old vs long term with the youngster.

Ismael was signed back to our active roster today so I guess no harm no foul.

Glad we get to keep him but its a red flag the entire league said "nah" to adding him.

Dude of course they are constantly evaluating. Have they not made any roster moves this year? Those are there result of evaluating. Watching film is a constant evaluation process.

Feels like 2017 again with all the OL injuries piling up. A line can only take so much. Feels like we're getting to the breaking point now with Chase out.
