#26 Landon Collins
What are the chances he hasn't fully recovered from his Achilles damage from 2020 and that's the reason for why he's played so poorly ?

Some say he's never recovered from some rando injury from his time in a Giants uni - and that's why he's never been good in our uniform. Personally, I just appreciate someone in this franchise having the smarts to tell him no when he asked for Sean Taylor's number. It would be one more shit stain on ST's legacy at this point. |

He was playing poorly before that though. Also I am against Landon Collins having his own thread. Might as well give Albert Haynesworth one too. Lol. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Collins does not deserve his own thread.
|
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Or at least call it the “WTF happened to this overpriced POS Landon Collins he sucks to high heaven thread. “
This seems like a tribute. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Oh I think he more than deserves his own thread. But I wouldn't call it a thread. To me it's more like a petition to have him cut by the end of the day.

I do find it hilarious Ron has to soothe his ego by not calling him a linebacker directly in the media. "He's a great player, we want him to play downhill, closer to the LOS, that's where he makes plays - but he wants to be a safety so we'll call him a safety" |

Re: #26 Landon Collins
A defensive back that is bad at covering receivers.
That is like a lawnmower that sucks at cutting grass. You get rid of it. |

Re: #26 Landon Collins
RR went to Collins in the offseason to get him to switch to LB, Collins said no. Im guessing RR didnt push it bc he didnt want to create locker room striff, alienate his vet ...
Hindsight, I think RR should have been more forceful. Everyone can see and agree what would have been best for the team is him taking LB snaps in TC and PS. Everyone except Collins. Collins didnt put the team first. Thats a flag. |

Collins didnt put the team first. Thats a flag.
That is the biggest issue for me.. I was willing to put up with Collins' weaknesses as it can be masked most of time with right defense plays, but once I learned that he refused to switch, I lost the respect for him as a WFT player. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Last season, seventh-round pick Kam Curl not only stepped in for Collins but outplayed him. Curl won fans with his instinctual play and blitzing prowess, and in March, a fan direct-messaged Collins on Instagram to ask if he’d move to linebacker. Collins replied, “Not happening my guy,” though a month later, Coach Ron Rivera said Collins had spoken for himself, not the team. Two weeks later, defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio told the team’s website he expected Collins to remain at strong safety.
“I was just laughing at it,” Collins said of the linebacker speculation. “I was drafted as a safety, and that's where I was going to be. If somebody was to come talk to me about it, we would talk about it. That's about it. If we have packages to put me into play [at linebacker], I'm always open to it. I'd rather have us all DBs on the field anyway. The more DBs, the more merrier.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/05/25/landon-collins-washington-recovery-linebacker/ This is from May 2021, only thing I can find re him saying he wont move. I heard RR in PS interview say the team approached him about moving to LB and Collins said no so they didnt push it. Just play him near the LOS, get whatever you can out of this bad situation, move on in the offseason. Grid Iron -- yeah I think Ive lost respect for him as well. We will see if he stays a quiet team player like Josh Norman when he got phased out in his last season here. Keep him on the active roster so he accrues his NFL pension in return for him being quiet and not a distraction. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Tell him where he's playing or sit him if he refuses. If Curl can play better, what do you lose over 11 remaining games where the situation is salvageable rather than keeping LC in purely because of how much he's paid? Assuming you can't trade LC ($) how much damage can you do by benching him the rest of the year? We're 2-4 with a tough stretch coming up, not 4-2. If they don't try new stuff soon, to turn this around, it will be too late to make it worth bothering.

Re: #26 Landon Collins
Blackmon in Indy is out all year with torn Achilles. Wonder if they can ship Collins and do a cap deal that helps Indy out? I doubt it, but no harm in wishful thinking...

Re: #26 Landon Collins
I asked Landon why he cares so much about being labeled a safety as opposed to a defender/linebacker/whatever other term.
Landon: "Because I was drafted as a what?" Me: "Safety" Landon: "I went to high school and I went to college as a... safety right? OK" Pete Hailey |

Maybe if he just embraced it like when some corners make the change to safety late in their careers, it could be a very good thing for him. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
You were drafted as a good football player. You are now a bad football player.
|
Re: #26 Landon Collins
I also find it hard to believe he's really 110% back from the injury. That injury can usually take 2 years to come all the way back from.

Re: #26 Landon Collins
Yeah it doesn't look like he is willing to accept the LB role, in fact he mentioned it in the off season too when he said "I'm a safety not a linebacker"
|
Re: #26 Landon Collins
This is also the difference in losing teams / culture and winning ones.
Jamal Adams plays LB and S and never bitches about it. That is because Pete Carroll has created a winning , all about the team culture. CeeDee Lamb recently said " I don't care who gets the ball the most, as long as we win" Stephon Diggs has said the same stuff. You never hear that stuff in D.C. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Are we overreacting here just a bit? He said he'll do it.
Landon Collins doesn't like new LB role but is willing to play it "I'm a team player," Collins said. "Do I like playing down there? I'm good at it. If I'm good at it, I'll play there. If I need to be played there, cool. Other than that, do I like playing linebacker? No. No I don't. I don't like hitting big linemen, getting big linemen off me. I'm undersized for being a linebacker. So yeah, I don't want to play down there, but if need to, yeah, I'll do so. I'm good at it." |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
He needs to be benched. He should not be on the football field. Opposing QB's look for #26 and exploit that weakness. Why put a player that is that bad on the field?
I don't care what he has to say about it. Frankly I am not sure why he is being forced onto us? Did Bruce Allen give the Landon Collins the pictures of Dan Snyder before Bruce left? I don't want to see #26 on the field anymore. It is time for him to go. The salary cap hit is the only reason he is still on them team. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
I think William Jackson has been worse than Collins. At least Collins can fill another role at LB and be serviceable. Jackson, as much as I really liked the signing when it happened, has been the worst player on the field in my opinion, and there's no where else for him to go except the bench.

Collins has been worse. Also it remains to be seen if Collins can be a serviceable linebacker. Plus I dont think Jackson is getting paid what Collins is. I hope he isn’t. Jackson sucks too, don’t get me wrong. |
Re: #26 Landon Collins
It's probably a coin flip.
|
Re: #26 Landon Collins
Jackson is being improperly used. Coaches should draft the scheme around player strengths not try to fit the player to their scheme. I really don’t see why we can’t play a hybrid man zone with Jackson being man press and playing to what he does best

Jackson and McCain, McTyer, hard to believe this clowns outplayed Moreland. Start Danny Johnson at least he can play and tackle. |

This. Jackson is a man cover corner. Fuller arguably too, and Collins is at best an in the box hybrid. But we keep playing zone and getting toasted. I mean, on 3rd and 15 etc. If you can't produce in zone, why not call a cover 1 and blitz an LB, or at least 2 man under with McCain and Curl playing deep. Hell cover 0 and force a quick pass can't be a worse chance of a stop than sitting back in C3 or C4 with these guys. More I've seen, the more I'm convinced JDR has lost the plot. |
