Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Congrats to the football team for handling business after Burrow went out. I suspect if he had played the entire game we might be discussing a different result. Good luck to the kid as I'm not hearing anything good about his injury. Hope it's just a simple ACL tear and not something worse.
Shoutout to the d-line for handling business with Finley in there. I still think JDR needs to be more creative because the game plan with bonafide starting qb's in there seems to be attack us with quick passes for small gains so we don't have time to rush the passer. No easy answers on offense but it seems like they got energized after Burrow's injury, guessing they wanted to take advantage of the Bengals being demoralized by losing Burrow. Hopkins - I see the replace Hopkins movement is picking up steam, my question is - if you know he's playing with an injury that might be affecting his field goal kicks why not stick him on IR and sign a temp replacement? For the most part of his career he's been reliable and idw replace him because he's not that good playing through injury. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Darby needs to be re-signed.
Add a legit FS and LB. Defense could be real nice next year. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Get a real No. 1 TE. 2nd or 3rd round or a GOOD free agent.
The WR core is growing on me but probably need to add 1 more weapon there. Gibson was nice today. |

He’s been inconsistent for us even when healthy. At the very least we should’ve brought in stronger competition the last few seasons. My problem is he’s missed a few clutch kicks; notably the OT kick in London against the Bengals. If he’s injured, he should be on IR, because we’ll be in some close games coming down the stretch this year. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
The Burrow injury was definitely an accident, Jonathan Allen was wrestled down by a Bengal OL into Burrows leg. Here’s the video:

Joe Burrow is the latest example of a team failing to protect a rookie qb with a solid offensive line, and now it's gonna cost the Bengals for the rest of the season at least. |

I mean if your best example is a missed kick from 4 years ago that's not good enough for me. And I'd be more concerned with him consistently missing clutch kicks if we fielded anything better than a dumpster fire team the last few years. I remember the days when we were trying out new kickers every week and guys like Graham Gano couldn't get a touchback on a kickoff to save their life, now we take that for granted every week. I think if he's injured they should've put him on IR and done some tryouts, but it's too late for that already. |

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Bengals fans are going bananas about the ownership, front office, HC, and Oline. Didn't see more very many comments about calling it dirty. That LG has apparently been wrecked all season.
Not our guys' faults. Just shitty circumstances/luck. He has torn ACL at a minimum. That's shitty. |

He's missed a kick in 7 out of 10 games this year including 2 which could have definitely changed the outcome of those games. I think he has the 2nd lowest kicking percentage in the league. He needs to go. The problem is, at this point, who the heck is out there that is going to be any better. And this team is far from a dumpster fire... |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Washington had not beaten Cincinnati since 1991, I guess this is a good sign.

Well, this was only the fifth time we've played them since 1991. We were 0-3-1 against the Bengals since '91 going into today's game. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
They are trending up in my opinion. They are not a great team, but they have won 2 of the last 5 games, and those 3 losses were by a total of 7 points. They are real good against backup QBs and Carson Wentz.
They need to figure out how to start stronger. I think they are the only team in the league that has not scored on their 1st possession. |

Feel free to shit on him for this year, but I'm really not sure how much blame to put on him for this year given the injury problem. Also we're not gonna pick up a quality replacement at this stage of the season, so just ride it out and bring in some competition in the offseason. |

I thought he got injured only like two-three weeks ago though. |

Why you gotta bring that painful memory like that ? I was already singing HTTR in that stadium when somebody tapped on my shoulder saying the Bengals had called TO... hurts. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
I'll always take the ugly win over the pretty loss.
Offense looked very decent, even before the injury IMO. Defense did the job after Burrow went out but the beginning of the game was embarrassing... they need to become who we think they can be... frustrating. Game balls to Johnathan Allen for man handling that OL, Darby for a solid game and a couple of big time deflections, Alex Smith, Gibson, McKissic and McLaurin. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Qb's need to protect their plant legs and should wear a brace.
Let's be honest, once Burrow went down the air went out of the Bengals. Their backup shouldn't be in the league. This team just needs to get a QB. The Smith comeback is a great one, but he can not get away from pressure and it is obvious. |

Same for me mate, same for me. Except for the shoulder tapping ;) |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Holding Cincy to under 10 points regardless who is at QB in today’s NFL is a nice day for the defense. I watched first and last quarter, and listened on the radio what I couldn’t watch...the radio team sounds decent. Hall and Julie are pretty good.

Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
So with Burrow they were basically moving the ball at will. Screwing up down in the Redzone but he was picking our D apart. I think if he played the whole game we lose but whatever a wins a win. I went from feeling very good about beating Dallas on Thanksgiving to not feeling very good about it. First of all what are the chances we can win two games in a row? But on the road in a short week? I hate to say it but fuckin Dallas s gonna be in first place after this week is over. [emoji35]

Burrow is a real talent and he has zilch on the oline outside Jonah guy. Moving the ball is a concern but strong situational defense in the red zone is something to hang your hat on, getting turnovers, holding teams to field goals, and 4th down stands are a signs of a good defense. Tee Higgins 2nd best rookie wideout and Tyler boyd is the best slot receiver in the game. They have some talented receivers. A Free safety and competent MLB will drastically improve defense |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
A win is a win, it was ugly but that is to be expected.
Winner of Thanksgiving will take the division |

That is priority number one on that side of the ball. Than S than CB. Problem is Offense is the main priority. OLine, TE, QB, and another WR. Add K. This team is far off. Very far off. But gimme that undeserved home playoff game in the meantime. Lol |

Yeah man...so many holes on the offense. I hope we don’t punt on adding talent their this offseason like we did last year. |

I really think that covid impacted all that plus a regime change. Too chaotic. There is absolutely no reason that we cannot address a large number of holes - specifically QB, Oline, MLB, S - in that order through the draft and free agency. We supposedly have the cap space. As long as Snyder stays out of it we “could” be a lot better come next year. Waaaay better. Im talking like 7-9. Lol. |

I put some of it on Del Rio. He came out with the worst game plan. Like wtf was he thinking playing way off the wr's? You can't do that against any NFL QB. Del Rio was terrible for the first half. |

I'm going to have a dilemma next year - I play in a FFL with one keeper. I'm trying to figure out if I should keep Gibson (for 8th rd pick) or DK Metcalf (5th rd pick). My original decision is to keep Metcalf but Gibson keeps showing me that he can be valuable as well. |

It’s a tough call, but I’d lean towards a rb with pass catching ability. RB are too hard to find as well. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
Wes Schweitzer finished with a 93.7 overall grade (the highest of his career) and Brandon Scherff finished with a 90.8 overall grade.
Those are also the two highest grades for any offensive lineman in week 11. |
Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
@realronalddarby
had his best game by far yesterday, finishing with an 88.6 Coverage grade. Targeted 13 times for just 5 Receptions. #WashingtonFootball |

Good point! I think Rivera and Kyle Smith will use at least one high draft pick and/or some of their FA money for the OL. This year is about testing players to see whether we stay with them or cut them. I don’t think Christian or Martin will be on the team next season except as maybe depth players. Re: Bengals @ WFT postgame thread
If you take out Wes Martin I think the OL has been no less than satisfactory this year. I have definitely been pleasantly surprised. Lucas is a perfect swing tackle so I hope we draft/sign another LT and move Charles to LG. Either as starter or backup to Wes. Depending on if we keep Scherff, they both could be starters at G.
Gonna be very interesting/important on how the Roullier/Scherff FA's are handled. Need to keep at least 1 of them, hopefully both. |
