Playoff picture
Lets face it, we aint winning the division... Unless Wentz wen't down they have it on lock iMO. Now lets look at the rest of the NFC.
1. Eagles 2. vikings 3. Rams 4. Saints 5. hawks 6. Packers Take GB out of the mix iMO, they are done with HUndley at QB. Seattle's D is too good to not make the playoffs. VIkings should take the north. RAMS (WHo we beat) we need them to start losing asap. Right now there are about 5 teams fighting for the 6 seed. Washington 3-3 Dallas 3-3 Detroit 3-3 Atlanta 3-3. Car 4-3 This game against Dallas is CODE RED! If we want to make the playoffs u have to beat Dallas at home, then we play Seattle who is also ahead of us.. With the Vikings and saints following. If we can go 3-1 in that span we should be in the drivers seat for the 6 seed. Thoughts? Are the skins a playoff team or sub .500? |

This is game I’ve been looking forward too. We are sticking a broomstick up Dallas ass this weekend

Re: Playoff picture
Being at 3-4 is not a code red even though it obviously doesn't help. We were at 5-6 one year and we won out to make the playoffs, that would be a code red situation.
Even if we do make the playoffs we aren't gonna go deep, there are better teams out there and I think we are going to be walking wounded for the rest of the year at the rate we're going. I expect us to be near .500 at the end of the year. It is what it is. Really more concerned about losing Kirk and possibly having to start back at square one next year. |

Re: Playoff picture
The sad fact is, this team is more than good enough to make the playoffs, but with the injuries this team has sustained, so far, and the brutal schedule, we will probably miss the playoffs by the skin of our teeth.

I agree with this, unfortunately. If you look at the first four games of the year, our biggest weapon has been Thompson. Watch the replays of his biggest plays and you see a common theme - either Scherff or Trent get out in front on screens and make unbelievable athletic plays that only a handful of linemen in the NFL could make. I mean Scherff was getting to safeties 25 yards away from the line of scrimmage to spring Thompson. Their mobility is hampered and thus Thompson doesn't figure to break those plays for more than 10 yards very often, not until those guys are healthy. The reason Jay was calling all those plays for Thompson is because he knew A) he didn't have the horses at WR to make the same big plays as they did last year and B) he knew his line was fast enough to spring the big play. He'll still call the plays for Thompson but they won't go for big gainers until our best linemen are healthy and mobile. Either the health needs to return quickly, or the WRs need to step up and replace Jackson quickly. Otherwise we have no big play quick strike ability. And we obviously miss Norman and Allen on defense. Hopefully we hang in there and make it interesting at the end of the year with a strong push. It's a decent team if it's healthy. |
Re: Playoff picture
I think we are going to see Doctson come on strong in the second half of the season.
IF we don't make the playoffs (we certainly still are in the hunt) then this may be one of those years though where 2nd and 3rd stringers get great real game experience and build a stronger core for the next year or years. Of course with the qb discussion - and I defer to other threads for all that back and forth - looming large for the coming off season, we may be in the perfect position to bring a 1st round qb in, and have the core of the team around him ready to go. Or give KC that team that has the quality depth he needs to finally bring home the big prize. |

FU*K'IN GREAT NEWS GUYS --- we still have 9 games to play!!! Honestly, if we manage to heal a little and avoid further injuries, we are looking at 7-2 finish!!!

Re: Playoff picture
I thought we had a damn good shot at Seattle until I saw Wilson yesterday. Holy shit! Hopefully we get Breeland back for that game. Speaking of him, did his injury happen during last week?

Re: Playoff picture
No way we go better than 7-9. I think 6-10 is more likely.
The organization vastly overestimated their ability to replace Jackson and Garcon with Pryor and Doctson. I didn't disagree with the decision at the time, but it hasn't worked out. Without serious threats at WR and all these injuries mounting up we stand no chance. |
Re: Playoff picture
Barring any further injuries and assuming Long, Schreff and Bree come back .... im not throwing in the towel.
We have to go 7-2. Going 9-7 probably inst going to cut it for the WC this year. Belief. Until we get L number 7, we are in it. |

Re: Playoff picture
i don't see it either, at all in fact. We need to step it up and win in Seattle but this team just doesn't ge tit done right now. They are soft up the middle on D even though we have played decently against the run, sometimes. We have a hard time with mobile qbs which makes me think its gonna be an effing field day for Wilson. I HATE....HATE... Seattle but they rush the passer, while banged up we cannot protect kirk for shit and i see a very long day with a few INTs being thrown and maybe a strip sack, per the norm.... I won't give up hope but the realist in me sees no shot the way we are currently playing and the injuries they are dealing with.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Cousins has been OK. Look at the stats and they look great. How many have gone from short throws to Thompson that Williams and Scherff sprang for big gainers? Cousins is what he is, the 10th best QB in the league or so. Won't lift the play of those around him, but adequate. Again, you can win with Cousins but not because of him. |

Cousins seems to have a little more staying power and consistency. I think we can most definitely win with Cousins and I think with the right group surrounding him, he can win ya a Super Bowl. But, he'll never be Hall of Fame great. Hopefully next year, the FO will find us some receivers and a running back. We have a great offensive line when healthy, and the defense, again when healthy, has improved greatly. We just need depth. |

I 100% thought exactly the same thing when we suffered more injuries yesterday... |
Re: Playoff picture
As much as I hope Schneed is wrong (and that this team ends with another winning record), I can't disagree with him. The injuries are so many, that I wouldn't be surprised if the 'skins have to cut loose of some injured guys just to make room for a healthy body. I mean, when you're down to only one healthy tight end, you can't run any jumbo packages, you can't really do too many run plays up the middle with unhealthy offensive linemen, you can't be as successful on screen plays to Thompson.
Even though we are all expecting and hoping to see Jay Gruden's defining moment as a head coach that brings this team together and makes them great, it may not be in the way we're thinking. It might be how he keeps this team together through this hellish season of injuries, and somehow makes them better for the future. Kind of like how Joe Gibbs regrouped his team after that body bag game against Philly in 1990. If Gruden is able to keep this team together and actually win more than 6 games this season, I would say he will have accomplished a great feat. Yes, I will be disappointed, because I had much higher hopes, but that was before all of these injuries. If this team isn't as injured, this team easily wins 10 games and is a lock for the playoffs. We're that close to being perennial winners and with playoff appearances. Just have to get healthy and stay healthy. |
Re: Playoff picture
If we finish 8-8 at this point, I'd be pleasantly surprised. I don't want to go back to being an under .500 team. If we do though, I'll spin it as good news for higher draft picks lol.

I feel like most of our losses we do just enough to remain in it at the end, but we can never take or keep the lead. You're right, we will have one or two upsets, which is just enough to keep our hopes up until they get mercilessly crushed at the end. |
Re: Playoff picture
We need to win 6 of the last 7. No bueno.
If we beat the Saints, its kinda like playing with house money bc we should be favored to win the last 6. Playoff guess -- 15% if we beat the Saints, 7% if we lose to Saints. |

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
Yesterday's loss was a killer. Most of the NFC teams vying for a wildcard berth are either 6-3 or 5-4. A win would've clearly put us in prime position for a playoff run. If we somehow beat New Orleans, then we're back in it. The problem is there is gonna be very, little room for error. There is still a chance the last wildcard spot could go to a 9-7 squad. But, to be on the safe side, a team may need to be 10-6. |
Re: Playoff picture
We’re too inconsistent and too banged up. Unless something changes really quick we’re probably looking at 8-8 at best.

If we beat NO (again probably not gonna happen) then we could go 9-7, we have NY twice, AZ, Denver and Dallas . I still think we have to go 10-6 to even have a shot. We need Atlanta and Carolina to start losing ASAP
