Super Bowl 51 Week

and the probowl...if your interested. Honestly, does anybody watch this?

Second, who you got for the SuperBowl?

The line is the Pats by 3 and the total im seeing is 57 1/2. Who you got for this, cause Im thinking about laying some money down for the first time in bout 10 years.

Im leaning Falcons OVER.

I'll double down with the first ever Double OT. Afterwards, McNabb will be quoted as saying "I thought it would end in a tie after the 1 overtime"

ugh...looking at New England against the spread...they are tough to go against. Maybe if it moves higher.

I think the point total should go over 58...any opinion on that?

I think you're crazy if you're taking the Falcons on the over. I want the Falcons to win but these Falcons ain't no Giants, Pats will take it.

I dont like it either way but the Pats are 15-3 against the spread. If you're putting down money thats the way to go, take NE -3

Falcons. Because I don't want to see the Patriots win another Super Bowl. Plus, the falcons just look unstoppable.

With Kirk Cousins playing in the Pro bowl, it might give me just enough interest in tuning in for a few minutes. Had the other redskins players decided to play, I would have definitely tuned in. Other than that, it's a waste.

It is interesting that the two last OCs for the Redskins were/are the hottest HC candidates. If the 2017 Redskins are another offensive juggernaut, you have to give a lot of props to Gruden.

Re: Super Bowl 51 Week

This game in my opinion was my ideal Super Bowl matchup when the playoffs started...and I'll be pulling for the Falcons all the way. Good defenses such as Denver and Seattle kept the Falcons in the low 20's and Philly held them to just 15 points! so they can be held in check as good as their offense is. It will be interesting to see what Belichick takes away on their offense...will he just shut down Julio, or shut down their running game and take his chances with their secondary play which has been terrific!

Agreed. Somehow the Patriots have this weird mystique where people have their worst games against them. Their defense is OK, but somehow they'll manage to stop the Falcons.

Re: Super Bowl 51 Week

It's the attention to little details that seems to separate the Patriots from the rest of the league. You really have to play error free to beat the Patriots. It seems like the entire squad, from the coaches down to the waterboy knows exactly the right thing to do at the right time. Such as the kicker kicking the ball short of the goal line to force a run back - which almost always pins the other team deep. Or Brady having the presence of mind to throw the ball away when his center snapped it early. Or, when the defense reacted in a split second to cover a fumble. How many times have we seen a fumble in a Redskins game and no matter how many Redskins defenders you see around the ball, none of them can ever cover the fumble? Of course, it also helps when the zebras tend to call the game in favor of the Pats as well. I saw a little bit of that in the Pittsburgh game.

I have to give it up to New England. They are well coached and they are in a class all of their own. To beat them, Atlanta has to play a perfect game. Not a near perfect game, but a perfect game. It reminds me of how well coached the 49ers and Redskins were in the 80's. Those two teams always seemed to do the little things that made the big differences in the games. Things you never even thought of. Love 'em or hate 'em, that what makes Bill Belichick the evil genuis!

Yup. I don't expect them to pull an NHL and say that testing positive for marijuana will only be a fine and no suspension though. Kinda ironic considering the NFL is one of the most physically demanding sports there is, they should be the most proactive about allowing treatment options that aren't performance enhancing.

If anybody who was too young to really know how great that '91 team was, just look at today's New England Patriots. That's exactly how the 1991 Redskins were. That team was a well-oiled machine. Very well coached. No nonsense, mission oriented team. That team was also very physical on both sides of the ball. The only other time I felt the Redskins were as dominate during the Gibbs 1.0 era was in 1983. I think they had two one-point losses that year, but of course the Super Bowl was disappointing. Still, it shows how great of a coach Joe Gibbs was during that time. Mark Rypien was no Tom Brady, and it makes you wonder if Gibbs had stayed around another ten years if Rypien would have had a bit longer tenure with the Redskins or if Gibbs would have eventually won a fourth Super Bowl with a fourth quarterback?

Herremans: It really is a sad topic. One in seven NFL players leaves the league with some sort of struggle with opioids. That is a horrific stat. I have seen teammates scouring the locker room looking for anyone with an opiate they could take just to make them stop shaking and feel normal so they can go out and practice. I only had a couple experiences firsthand seeing this in the locker room, and it's because they were people I was close to, but it was enough to know that it's a league-wide issue.

You would think the NFL would be more open to an alternative?

I think that the 91 team, although very dominant, they were getting old. And that age showed the following year when the team was often injured. There was a piece I believe in America's Game 91 Skins when after a flat pre season game, Cooke called out Gibbs, saying.. "you kept too many guys on this team that are old." And then stuck the knife into Gibbs a little more and said..."now look at Jimmy Johnson, he's doin' it the right way." I guess he meant that Johnson was going with a youth movement and Cooke saw that. So even had Gibbs stuck around, the team would have had to been rebuilt, plus 93 or 94 was the first year of the cap and the Redskins didn't prepare for it at all. I think Joe knew what was coming and saw the writing on the wall. A lot of his guys were going to have to be replaced, plus he did have some health issues....

Yeah I tuned in to see Kirk play, ended up watching most of it because I didnt know when they would stick Kirk in and it ended up being the best pro bowl I've seen in a while. Not because of anything that great happening, but the players actually came to play and were tackling hard.
Kirk should have been the MVP.Jimmy Graham dropped a perfect pass from Kirk in the endzone, then Graham had a ball go thru his hands in the red zone for an int.Kirk did throw a terrible pass in the red zone that should have been intercepted but wasnt, was no where near the receiver, but thats what you get with Kirk.

Interesting hire, but def not the best candidate. Word round town was several better candidates turned it down after meeting with ownership. Apparently sf ownership issue is worst in the league these days.

And it's funny that he's a HUGE Kirk Cousins fan. Of course, we all know Kyle Shanahan is a fan of Kirk Cousins. Just saying. The 49ers probably will try hard to go after Cousins.

Unfortunately, Joe will not get in next year. There are three first round HOF players becoming eligible next year, and at some point TO should be in. Tony Boselli will probably be in before Joe. The Skins need to put together a marketing platform to re-educate some of the writes on how important he was.
