Teams picking QBs in this draft....
will affect who's left when we pick (duh).
Anyway I thought this was worth a discussion. CBS Sports is only projecting 2 QBs to go in the first round. The top three - Mitch Trubisky DeShaun Watson DeShone Kizer Teams that will try to get a new starting QB next year? Cleveland San Fran Chicago San Diego NY Jets Arizona Thats a lot. I think three could go in the first round, worthy of that spot or not. No way Cleveland will stay with RGIII because they have two first round picks. Trubisky to Cleveland San Fran will take Watson. The fly in the ointment will be Tony Romo He has a big cap hit next and he wants to be released. I really dont see a good fit with him for any of the above teams but if he is released one of them will grab him. |

If for whatever reason Cousins isnt on the team next year and he is there at 17 I'd want us to take him. I agree with you though, some other guys will be picked in 1st round too. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
If Mitch trubisky is your top qb prospect in a draft, well I think that bout sums it up.
If Watson can't emerge as the top qb prospect, then that would be enough of a red flag to pass. Terrible crop of qb prospects...this works in cousins leverage for a new deal. |

The other guys are 3rd round or lower type prospects, that will go higher solely because they're qbs. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
The Bills have a new regime and vanilla quarterbacks.
You could probably add them to the "we need a new QB" list. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
Watson is a bad passer, he's not very accurate.

If he decides to come out. The best QB will be Josh Allen who, by many scouts are comparing to your very own...
Kirk Cousins. Haha |

That is what they said about Tim Tebow. Watson isnt Tebow but still. |

The games I've seen him in I've had no issues with his accuracy. But I've heard that more than once so there must be some truth to it. And yeah, lol, he's way better than Tebow at nfl type quarterbacking. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
I agree about Watson. He doesn't have the accuracy for the NFL game. I wouldn't touch that guy. The game I saw him in was FSU and was not impressed at all.

Dude is a winner. Hell of a game by him. If he's not the 1st qb taken it'll be pretty ridiculous. I'd gladly take him on my team if we're needing a QB at that time and he's available. I doubt we will and after tonight I think he'll go in the top 10. Just saying. |

No question he's a winner. Just would not take him with a first round pick. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
I see no bigger risk in that than giving Cousins 25 million per year. He put the team on his back and beat what many people were saying up until last night was one of the best college defenses in recent history.
And there is absolutely no way he doesn't go in the first round. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
Kizer will take years to develop, so will Watson(1 read offense) if he makes it as a pro.
Definately a terrible year to be looking for Qbs. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
All NFL QB's take time to develop. Watson just does not get nearly the credit he should. To each their own though. I'd take him in the 1st round.

redskins have 3 good QBs there is no since Drafting one

Agreed. College winners don't mean squat in the pros. Ask Vince Young and Tebow. If he ain't accurate he ain't gonna cut it unless he wants to move to another position. Most qb's don't want to do that because it's too damaging to their ego's. I hope that Watson gets picked ahead of us though, because that means one better player that we might be interested in is still on the board. |
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
I've watched Watson play a lot over the last 3 years and the kid has been an excellent QB. How he manages the 4th quarter is unbelievable and the way he carries himself is impressive. Not taking away from his talent but he was surrounded by talent that was molded for the way Clemson plays offense. He plays majority of his snaps out of the shotgun formation and a lot of QB option plays. Also, a lot of his plays come from outside of the pocket. The way he plays the position...kinda reminds me of the way RGIII and Cam played in college.

Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
there is no Andrew Luck in this draft or even a Goff.
|
Re: Teams picking QBs in this draft....
Watson is way more talented as a QB than Tebow and has a way better head on his shoulders than Vince Young. He'll be miles better than either of him in the NFL.

Agree. However, how will Watson do playing under center and trying to make a lot of plays inside the pocket? That is something that he has not had to do in college. He will not be able to run the ball 15 to 20 times a game like he did at Clemson. |

Kirk Cousins. Haha
I don't know why any scout would compare Allen to Kirk. First off Kirk is accurate. Allen sprays the ball all over the place and he doesn't take enough off the ball on touch throws, almost every throw the kid makes is a fastball. Allen reminds me more of Jake Locker then Kirk. |
All NFL QB's take time to develop. Watson just does not get nearly the credit he should. To each their own though. I'd take him in the 1st round.
Agreed. I think Watson wrongly gets lumped in with the 'dual threat' QB label and with it all the usually rhetoric.
The worst thing about his game to me is his interceptions. He has a gunslinger mentality and a willingness to give his receivers a chance on 50-50 balls these often result in bad decisions/interceptions. Everything else about the kid I like. Efficiency, Accuracy, quick decisions, Improvisation, Poise, Pre-snap adjustments, Post snap progression. |

We run a lot of offense out of shotgun too and he seems atheletic/smart enough to get used to being under center. But I do think college coaches in general really do a disservice to quarterbacks. It's all shotgun all the time for most teams. Watching college a lot of times the teams look like they're running the same plays. |
