Re: Stanley Caps
The Caps will choke in the playoffs like they always do, I have no confidence in those chokers.
|
Re: Stanley Caps
So far the Caps are up 2 Games to 0 over the Fliers!
|
Re: Stanley Caps
I've watched both of their games so far, this year definitely has a different feel to it. Hopefully the road is as good to them as home has been. I especially like how smart they've been playing, the Flyers keep trying to instigate but the Caps have stayed focused so far. I think they could do a better job of not taking penalties but I feel some of the penalties called so far have been ticky-tack type calls. And our pk/pp have been great so far so it hasn't been an issue.

Re: Stanley Caps
it's hard not to dream when the offense and goalie have both been soo good this year.

Agreed! |
Re: Stanley Caps
The Caps will win the Cup this year. Their team defense and overall talent is just too good.
|
Re: Stanley Caps
well, i'm not going to jinx it, but the flyer's literally gave up with 10 minutes left to play. they just stopped trying. still a lot of games left though.

Re: Stanley Caps
boy, I f8cking love to see Philly sports fans embarrass themselves like they did last night. No way you should be giving your own team a penalty.
a complete, no-class philly fan implosion...nothing is more satisfying. |

Re: Stanley Caps
So far the Caps are 1-1 with the Pens...so it is still early in the series...but they could really use a win tonight!
|
Re: Stanley Caps
I was thinking this was there year but they have been way outcoached the first two games this series and are lucky to be tied 1-1. Holtby is making his case for the Vezina. Unfortunately down 2-0 this game. Not sure I see this series going past six.

Yup. Starting to feel like it doesn't matter how good we are, we always run into a team better than we are at the right time. |
Re: Stanley Caps
Yeah. The Pens are very talented. Some how people will look at this as the Caps "choking" again if they lose this series.
Yeah. The Pens are very talented. Some how people will look at this as the Caps "choking" again if they lose this series.
As noted, there is a difference between "choking" and running into the wrong team at the wrong time. The Caps have undoubtedly choked in the past. Epically at times. The Pens are tough and taking them to six would not be a choke. WITH THAT SAID: To shake the monkey off their back and get rid of the label, they need to be the team that other teams "run in to" or find a way to beat those teams. The Pens are tough and playing well. You want to be champs at the end of it all? Then you gotta beat the tough teams that are playing well and do it consistently after the season ends. I really want the Caps to pull this out. I know they can, just don't know if they will. |

Every year it's like clockwork, why should this year be any different? |
Re: Stanley Caps
i really hate the pens.

Re: Stanley Caps
terribly pathetic by the Caps. no excuses
|
Re: Stanley Caps
Team has a guy in the argument for greatest goal scorer of all time yet they can't buy a goal. And for some reason they have a magical ability to turn the opposing goalie into a brick wall.
|
Re: Stanley Caps
joe said it right. the caps , winners of the presidents cup, are chokers. you can make any excuse you like, but the results are always the same. im a flyers fan. with that being said, i love me some ovie. but something happens to him come playoff time. cant nail it down, but something changes. and its not for the good
|
Re: Stanley Caps
I guess I fail to see the "choking" aspect as part of their history. I can see the argument in 2008 when they lost to the Flyers in the first round 3 games to 4 and got swept by the lightening in 2011 in the second round, but the Caps have always played solid 7 game series in the playoffs. In terms of Ovies performance his playoff stats due drop from the regular season 78 pts in 82 games and scoring a goal in only 46% of games, compared to 966 pts in 839 games with a goal in 62% of games but I think the more disconcerting aspect is the absence of other play makers stepping up. You know the playoff game is going to clamp down on Ovie so they need to take better quality shots. I am sick of hearing John Walton say the Caps are getting plenty of shots but they are taking crappy shots.

Re: Stanley Caps
baltskins let me ask you this. do you think the caps have a better team the pitts? i do

Re: Stanley Caps
Does anyone know what players from this year's team will be lost this offseason? I thought I heard Williams wouldn't be back, but not sure.

Right now, the latest I have heard is that most of the team will stay in tact. Of course that could easily change in the off season. |

Re: Stanley Caps
I don't want to start another thread for this, but I see the Canadiens fired Michel Therrien and hired Claude Julian. I did not see that coming. How you gonna fire a guy in his 8th season in the midst of the season when your team is in first place. I like the move but it reeks of reckless disregard. How are your players gonna feel knowing they have to learn a new system in the midst of the year? Great move, terrible timing.

Re: Stanley Caps
Appropriate song after that shitshow last night. Love the Caps, but I've got more faith in modern politics than I do for the Caps in the playoffs. Idk how they go from such a hot start to such a weak finish, but they've perfected the art by now. I'm not just referencing the game last night, I'm referencing how they finish out seasons. They could have a 4 goal lead in a game 7 and I still wouldn't be convinced they'd advance.

:laughing2 wow, knowing your posts, that's a bold statement. Malcolm, that song on 10 while watching the Caps on TV in a cloud of 'dro...its a must these days to ease the pain. How in the f*ck did they blow last game? |

Man that 3rd period was the weakest shit I've seen in a long time, they couldn't sustain possession if their lives depended on it. |
Re: Stanley Caps
Two goal lead is the most dangerous in the NHL. I still think the Caps come out of this series.
|
Re: Stanley Caps
Well, now the Skins face their mortal enemy, the penguins. The Caps are really in the best possible position to finally get by them, so I hope the 'ghost of Caps playoffs past' stays home and the Caps finally get their Cup.
