Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
I know its early but I am sick of talking about who Kirk Cousins is. Lol. Lets put the Pats game behind us and get down to business. Have to win alot of games this second half of the season and it all starts with the Aints.
Skins 31 Aints 21 |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
Saints are going to score so we're going to have to do the same. But since the Saints are not the same team on the road, and we've been good at home, I think we can win this game.
Skins coaches need to stop with the conservative shit and get the ball to our wr's and abuse their defense. A rookie QB just lit them up. I can't name one Titans wr or TE. We need to do the same. Skins 34 Saints 28 |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
Let's just hope our WRs don't have JPP hands this week.

Aaron WilsonVerified account @AaronWilson_NFL Washington tried out Brian De La Puente, Cyrus Gray, Storm Johnson in addition to signing LaRon Byrd, Carlos Fields and Anthony Johnson ---------------------------------------- Odd they wouldnt bring De La Peunte for a look at the beginning of the bye week and waited until now. I guess LeRibeus is more injured than expected? |

its amazing what a change in O-Cordinator can do, look at the luck's performance against the best defense in the league this past weekend. Chud is a beast. |

It's called the West Coast offense and it can be pretty effective if your receivers/backs catch the ball and/or don't fumble. A decent running game, and a legitimate deep threat don't hurt either. The concepts of this offense are pretty similar to a lot of other variations of the WC offense that have been used successfully in the past, and are currently being executed successfully throughout the league. It's all about the execution. Jay and Sean can draw up good plays all day, but if the players don't execute properly, it matters not. |

We need wr's and oline help on offense. That will be addressed - or we could just fire everyone and start from scratch. |

It's actually been quite a....saucy offense for guys like Bill Walsh....Joe Montana....Jerry Rice......Steve Young....5 SB's (not to mention most of the NFL) ...something like that |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
The Redskins announced they have placed center Kory Lichtensteiger on the injured reserve list with a designation to return. They signed center Brian de la Puente to take his roster spot. Lichtensteiger has been battling a pinched nerve in his neck.

The demise of Morris is baffling to me. |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
The demise of the running game in general is baffling, but it's mostly due to the OL.

So unfortunately this is bad news...

Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
I'm going with the skins at home vs a very shaky saints team and a bad defense. Although brees could beat us because he's great I just think we can run the ball on them and control the clock.

When is the last time we had a game where we had a 3 score lead? It'd be nice |

Yeah remember the Rams game. We had a two headed monster. Almost three with CT. Once we lost Lavao (spelling) it all fell apart. |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
Cousins tosses two INTs and two TDs....Alfred Morris rushes for over 100 yards...Jordan Reed has over 100 yards receiving... The defense creates two turnovers and sack Brees four times....Hopkins nails a 44 yard FG with 00:10 left to win it.

Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
I caught Cooley's take on the running game struggles.
He said it's a little bit of everything... sometimes it's the RBs, sometimes it's the TEs failing on the edges, sometimes it's the OL and sometimes it's the WRs. On the whole the quality of the personnel isn't that different from when the running game was good. Yeah we lost Lauvao but his replacement isn't a huge drop off. We lost Kory but we're upgraded at RG and RT and LeRib isn't terrible. I think the main issues with the running game are coaching/game plan issues. Predictable run tendencies, especially on 1st down. Lack of creativity and commitment overall. |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
Why did our OL deteriorate so fast?

Alfmo is proven, Matt Jones is a solid second option. But the game plan, commitment isn't there. |

With the obvious run blocking issues we are having, I cannot understand why we're not using DYoung more. I think he had something like 2 snaps last week. He's our best blocker outside of the O line. Anyone know why? |

Listening to Sports Talk 980 yesterday, I heard Rick 'Doc' Walker ask the same thing. And I completely agree with both you and him. Why aren't the Redskins using D Young? |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
I don't think Gruden likes to use a fullback. DY has been MIA.

Cooley said Callahan doesnt like running out of the I or strong formation = no FB except on 3rd and 1 plays. That he prefers using TE in blocking schemes ..... the coaching staff needs to adjust run approach available personnel. We have no blocking TEs but have a stud FB sitting on the bench .... this lack of adjustment is frustrating. |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
So apparently they just signed a guy off the street to play center Sunday. How can this guy know our playbook in just a few days? LeRib must really suck.

Who said he's starting?? This guy was signed for depth because Kory L. went on IR. LeRibeus is still the starter. |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
I think LeRib has been doing surprisingly well. Not great but not awful.
|
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
ESPN980 was saying LeRib was horrible and can't snap in a shotgun set.
They expect the new guy to start if he can get the playbook in time. |

They were very interested in De la Puente before last season, so he's been on their radar for a while it seems
Gruden hinted at it yesterday in his press conference.
Gruden also blamed one of the sacks on Lerib cause he messed up the snap count.
This is definitely a valid point - there was also that one play a few games ago where the ref called the false start on "the entire line except the center". LeRib thought the snap count was 3 but it was 2, so everyone went except him. Completely unacceptable. It's not really much different than Griffin not knowing the offense well enough to get through his reads fast enough to run the basic scheme. Gotta get him out of there, LeRib should be on the street. He definitely would be already if Kory wasn't hurt. |
Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
I say go ahead and get De La Puente in there immediately, as long as he knows enough of the offense to not get Kirk injured. We're not winning anything this year anyway, the sooner we get him in there and learning with Callahan and Gruden the better equipped we are next year to have a contingency plan for Steiger and potentially move forward with a valid center.

Re: Code Red all HANDS on deck Skins vs Saints prediction thread
Center is most def on the list for an upgrade in the offseason. Kory L effing stunk this year. MicRib sux. Ill go ahead and put it on the list:
WR - a couple TE (blocking) Center Safety - a couple ILB Pass Rusher (Gallette hopefully) QB RB CB |
