very talented, kinda under the radar guy on a bad Saints defense. But I keep thinking of that beach video and it really bothers me. Bothers me even more he denies that its him and the league is still looking into it. I dunno, doesnt seem worth the trouble

I would pass. You drafted two guys the last two years at OLB. You give those two every opportunity you can. Don't know much about JG other than the Saints, who have a terrible defense, don't want him. That to me says all I need to know.

Pass rusher is a position where you can never have too much depth. See New York Giants circa 2007 and 2011.

I would at the very least perform due diligence. How many games is he likely to miss due to pending suspension? How was he as a teammate - not what the papers say but what his teammates say. Keep in mind that Desean was publicly reported to be a bad teammate, but the locker room in Philly actually loved him and he performed). And most importantly, what would be his contract demands?

There is definitely a scenario where the value equation shifts in the team's favor. It's irresponsible not to explore it.

All I'm saying is Desean Jackson, who supposedly was in gangs and shit, has not made our locker room implode.

The court of public opinion is worthless. McCloughan will dig in and do the right research. He'll uncover the real truth. If he find that he's a bad guy then he won't sign him, that's the right way to do business.

But I wouldn't just say "pass" off the cuff without digging in and talking to people really in the know.

It comes down to this. Jackson didn't make the team better. That's cause we were not a player or two away. Same type of deal this year. If we were a player or two away, I'd be all in on this. But we're not there yet.

The video is one thing, but all the craziness afterwards on twitter after, he cost himself alot of money for a good player at 27 years old. I trust McLovin to not sign him, if he thinks he will be a problem in the lockerroom. In the very least, his contract won't be good and not much guarranteed.

Horrendous thinking. Of course he made the team better. If we didn't have Desean do you think our offense would have even done what it managed to do last year?

Nobody's saying we're a player away, but it would be stupid to think that a 10-sack guy couldn't help the team take another step.

Our record didn't improve much last year because we have a long way to go, especially at QB. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't add talent when you can.

Have to balance it with the potential downside by doing due diligence. But with your logic it's almost like why should we sign anybody?

You've already drafted TWO guys that would play his position. Who's to say they can't have a 10 sack season? Plus how's someone like him going to act when we're having a bad season? JG seems like the type of guy that's great when you're winning, and a total nightmare when you're losing.

I think you sign guys, but not any like JG. Not for this type of team that's probably going to have a losing season that's struggling to find leadership.

think of him like daryll gardener back in the day. you take him for one year and get 12 sacks, then you let him walk without making an offer. he can behave for one year (maybe), just don't give him real money.

if we pass, i'm cool with that too, he's a one year rental and we're not going to the super bowl anyways. the saints ate 17mill to ditch him, and, well... that's pretty daming.

Surprised. Saints pay $17 million to get rid of him. I'm trusting McLovin, I'm assuming he has inside info -- or trusts Knighton to help him since they know each other.

To be clear, he has a history, but the video was 2 years ago and the January incident seems bogus. We'll see.
