Ian Desmond is on pace for 162 errors
Ian Desmond is on pace for 162 errors
who is the color commentator for the Nats? i like him. the Os this year are a big question mark for me. we had injuries last year to key players but had enough studs to prevail. now, without cruz and markakis, we can afford to lose anyone, which is not a good game plan for 162 games. i feel like Jones and Pearce are our only legit bats now. and i think peace will tire in the stretch run. -------------------------------------- just checked the game, Os losing 10-1. i was supposed to go but had something at work pop up so i gave tickets to 2 co workers . . . sucks for them. |
Re: Mlb 2015
F. P. Santangelo does the color commentary for the Nats and Bob Carpenter does the play-by-play. I know a lot of people get annoyed by F.P. because he does constantly try to coin catchphrases and nicknames, but I think he's pretty good. He definitely brings excitement to the booth, and his insight into the game can be interesting.

Agree, he is solid. Rendon is a catalyst for the offense, more so than Bryce, werth or an overprice Zimmerman. Defense up the middle helps win championships and I'm worried if I'm in th front office |

cashman is shocked the team he put together is 3-6? dude, you traded for or signed a bunch of guys on the decline of their prime. you added other team's allstars those teams wanted to walk away from. what did you expect from carlos beltran, stephen drew, chase headely and brian mccann? those guys were good 2-3 years ago. now they are overpaid under-performing 30 somethings. this isnt 2005 when 30 somethings could take roids and PEDs to still produce. cashman is behind the times. unlimited money and resources and he made a roster of re-treads on top of still having to pay 25 mil per to re-treads CC and arod for a few more years. tanaka? that 200 mil investment in which you paid 50 mil just to sign? yeah, gonna need TJS, velocity may never come back. lol i love it! |
Re: Mlb 2015
i think it is time to get my hands on some bryce harper used and signed stuff.
he could be big time. |
Re: Mlb 2015
Nats payroll = 164M (5th)
Os payroll = 110M (17th) I wish the Os had signed/kept: 8M = Andrew Miller 10M = Nick Markakis 15M = Nelson Cruz 33 M = WS contender. in such a weak AL east, you figure another playoff run would have brought Angelos another 20 mil at least just for those added games/tv money. A World series? priceless, the dude would have made bank and would cont to rack in the money for a few years after. you add those 3 players and the Os are a top 3 team in the AL. so frustrating, we were building a sustainable long-term winner. |

effing bush league. burnett has somewhat of a rep as a loner, non clubhouse kinda guy but still ... dude put in his time. he also lives on a farm in MD somewhere (im pretty sure). i expected better from bochy |

harper really needs to chill on arguing balls and strikes. every now and then you run into an inconsistent strike zone. but he needs to learn to deal with it better and like the other 17 batters adjusting. the gif on this pitch seems to be borderline = strike. you cant argue 50/50 strike calls like he does. the Os have had some serious, way out of the zone strike calls against them and at most, chris davis just shook his head and walked away. if you act like harper did in this gif .. the ball better be way more outside the zone then it was. his comments about grienke also make him a douche. he is turning into a big papi. disgruntled about every strike call. even when it was a strike. |

|
Re: Mlb 2015
I have a lifetime ban there. Awesome stadium. Def worth a go. the permantie (sp?) brothers subs are kinda over-rated imo.
---------------------------------------------------- the Os and nats should make a trade. The Nats have a pretty stocked prospect cabinet and need a top end reliever and 1b/OF guy. The Os have o'day and chris davis who both become FA this offseason. oday = 36.2 IP; 47 SO; 1.47 era; 0.95 WHIP davis = 343 ab; 22 hr; 60 rbi; .242 ba (.295 v lefties) there is no guarantee that Zimmerman will comeback to play 1b and if he does, for how long? Davis plays above avg 1b defense and is serviceable outfielder. oday is one of the best 8th inning men in the game. could be the nats closer. |
Re: Mlb 2015
My Os are free falling. Lost 11 of the last 12.
REALLY FREAKING WISH duquette got off his ass and did something one way or the other. We either needed to make moves to make a run (see toronto, royals, etc) or trade guys who are going to be FAs next year. this team's roster was fatally flawed all year and duqueete thinks adding perra was the answer? our top 2 prospects have tommy john problems so we trade our 3rd best prospect for an outfield rental that wouldnt make us playoff contenders anyway? To not get anything in return for Davis, Chen and Wieters is incompetence. Its almost like Duquette has purposely tanked since he conspired w Toronto to try and go there this offseason. This is total BS and i cant believe the Os didnt file tampering charges. Duquette thought process of keeping the FA guys and taking comp picks when they leave vs trading them for prospects before the deadline is just mind boggling. |

this is pretty awesome. i think my Os are reverting to the loveable losers i have known prior to 2012. ive never seen this before. davis crushes a walk off home run in the bot of the 11th deep into the center field seats where no one is except this one dude sleeping and wakes him up. |
So who is responsible this years embarresment known as the Washington Nationals? U gonna fire anybody?
IMO no one. The pick up of papelbon and moving Storen to closer was a smart move on paper and it should have worked. You now had your 8th inning man in Storen and you moved him from a high pressure playoff closer spot he doesnt do well in by adding Paps. But if i get to play monday quarterback, id say Rizzo. perhaps he should have added a bat and replaced gio. gio costs you guys a few games down the stretch here. i cant blame him for not addressing teh biggest need - bullpen, bc he did, he just didnt predict a storen meltdown. You knew you had a flawed roster by the trade deadline. I really thought an Os and nats trade would have been mutually beneficial. leftie Chen, 1b davis and 8th inning awesomeness of oday = gio contract off your hands and a ton of prospects = nats ahead of mets ---------------------------------- i hope duquette gets off his fat ass and tries some waiver trades for davis, chen, and oday. idk what the market will be for wieters. |

What an embarrassment of a team. |
Re: Mlb 2015
Papelbon is also an embarrassment. The guy is just an ass and not liked everywhere he goes.
Kinda tired of the Os getting hit bc other teams dont like the score. In NY a few weeks ago, we were raking and they threw twice at Davis (once at his head). Next series against the royals, the Os have a 9 run inning where they had 2 grand slams and Davis gets plunked. the Os gave the lightest toss to morales thigh in response. such a weak response. the Royals at least drilled our guy in the mid back and not head high. now machado hits a go ahead 2 run homer and Paps throws head high heat? if manny didnt flinch or move, the ball was going right for his head. nats - you cant throw head hunting heat. paps is an indefensible ass. harper gave the right response. hes tired of the nonsense. |

Ryan Zimmerman and Werth are dead money...sad to see these guys giving you nothing for another season. What has happened to Gio Gonzalez? He has been poor...3.94 and 1.43 whip? He is trending worse each season since joining the Nats. Nats got alot to fix. I dont think its Matt Williams, yet. Id probably give both him and the GM another season, but Id clear house if no playoffs next year. Pitching coach McCatty...i dont know if he is the issue, but Id look around at other staffs this offseason. Maybe its just time for another voice |

chico - yes, zimmerman and werth are dead money. rizzo had to know this when he signed werth and re-signed zim. if the lerners keep the payroll at 180 mil range, you should have room. idk, some big contracts on that team. regardless, still a very talented roster next season. |
Re: Mlb 2015
Bottom of the 9th, 2 outs, no men on, Bryce Harper up to the plate ...
and the Os dont plunk him. of course no nats fan has acknowledged the Os didnt retaliate and let it die. im sure they wont remember next year when they call us scum and dirty. |

Williams and Rizzo should both be heading out the door at the end of the year. I can't imagine Williams gained much respect by allowing Pap to continue on during the game. |

Looks like they sent Papelbon packing for the rest of the year. Going to be interesting in what they do with him during the off-season.

Brooks Robinson auctioning ALL of his memorabilia. A ton of game worn gloves, his 16 gold gloves, WS rings, etc. Everything. Even his original Normal Rockwell painting of him signing a ball for a kid in the stands. Probably the best painting ever painted. Doing it for his charity. If I can bid on something for 2k or less, I m going to pull the trigger. I have an autographed HOF stamped bat of his. He is only keeping his HOF ring. |

A Yankees loss especially when they get booed at home. Happy for Jake Arrietta. Wished we would've let him through that cutter while he was an O. Nonetheless he probably needed a change of scenery regardless. Away teams are 4-0 going into today. I think the Royals and Dodgers change that today. Looking forward to the Cubs-Cards game. Arguably the best rivalry in baseball that gets ignored. |

Not letting Arrieta pitch and develop his cutter was a big obvious problem, now looking back. Ever since we had tillman, arrieta, matusz, britton (to some degree bergensen and berken) .. we just rotated them up and down in the minors. Now we are doing it with gausman. at least buck was doing it this year bc of roster spots and we successfully held onto rule 5 guy garcia, who could be a huge addition in 2 years. with chen gone, id stretch britton back to starter, let gausman stay the year no matter what. Ugh I'm so sick of the cardinals, boring team. Would love to see a Cubs vs mets ncls. In the al, I'm pulling for anybody not Texas. Eff the Rangers |

Kershaw once again not getting it done in the postseason. Of course if the Dodgers could actually score a bit it might've helped.
