Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
what point would that serve? Griffin is still the future.
|
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
And people want this guys as a Head Coach? lol
|
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
You think it's a circus in Washington now, start Kirk Cousins and see what happens... You don't play Cousins unless RGIII is hurt, period...

Gives us a chance to bolster Cousin's value. Additionally, keeps RG3 healthy going into the offseason and he can have a full, healthy, offseason to continue learning and evolving while potentially giving us another reasonable draft pick to help build the team. What point does playing Griffin who is getting hit constantly on a recently reconstructed knee serving? The question can be posed two ways. I'm not sure how I feel about the situation myself, but I understand why many people are making the argument. |

LMAOLOLOLOLOLOOLOLOLOLOL Sorry one second. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA I cant believe I read that. Yeah fucking right. It's calm alright. |
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
From a guy who is broadcasting PRIMARILY because he couldn't successfully find a QB. Tell me again why people are so infatuated with this guy as a coach?

That would only hurt his value the more we play him and invariably lose. I'd rather give RG3 more time to grow and develop. Plus, it could destroy his confidence if we pull him. The reward is not worth the risk. |
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
When he defended Tebow and praised him, thats when I realized he had fully crossed over to the media side of football. He's in the "grain of salt" category of the media

If the guy starts and runs the offense, gets the ball out quicker, sees the field, sees the blitzes, throws accurate passes....basically does everything RG3 isn't doing, or doing on a consistent basis....then why would you trade him? I think if RG3 comes out Sun and plays like he has the last two weeks then you have to sit him down. I don't care about draft status, ego, politics and all that BS. At that point you have to do what you can to win a game. |

Come'on, its black friday, bring the smackdown! Only way to play Cousins is if RG3 is injuried. RG3 needs to play to gain more experience as a pocket passer. I think someone said it a couple weeks ago and it was a good point, only thing playing Cousins does is diminsh his trade value. |
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
Griffin needs the reps. Cousins needs to stay on the bench.
|
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
Griffin needsto play. He was palying one of the best defenses in the NFL. Griffin brought a knife to a gun fight.

NC Skins' beast mode gear can be easily shifted |
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
Shanahan obviously saw something in Cousins to use a 4th rd pick on him after he already drafted RG3.If he's afraid of a controversy he shouldnt have drafted cousins in the first place.
If RG3 comes out and stinks it up again Sunday night, then Mike should bench him at halftime, but I dont think Mikes got the balls to do it,if he did he would have done it in the Seattle game. RG3 is just not right this yr and he's taking way more punishment than any other qb in the league, and he's not getting any calls. I want a healthy RG3 for next yr and if he keeps getting nailed the way he is that might not happen. Sometimes you learn something riding the bench a game or so. I think people are afraid that if Kirk comes in and does well thats a bad thing. I want the qb playing to give us the best chance to win,if thats Cousins so be it.I'd rather it be RG3 but we have no ideal if he's ever gonna be the same. I want a coach that has the balls to play the qb thats gives the team the best chance to win and his not worried about draft status and contract. |
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
I don't think winning or trying to improve our standing in the NFC East really matters anymore, which is sad. These last few games are basically just live practices, so RG3 can continue developing.

Exactly. Why is everyone trying to drum up a controversy? We spent a fortune on this guy. He needs the reps... and a better pass blocking o-line. |

Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
We haven't even discussed what would happen if Cousins comes out and craps the bed. He goes from a potential 2nd - 3rd round value to being a 4th-6th rounder. There's truly no upside to playing him at all this season absent a RG3 injury.

To me this is ridiculous. So if RG3 comes out and has another 4 yards passing at the half we keep a capable back up on the bench cause we're concerned about hurting his trade value? SMH...what about trying to win a game? What about doing what's best for the players/coaches/ owner that are tired of losing? ...and not worrying about trades, ego and hurting someone's feelings? This is not the RG3 Skins. Hopefully he comes out and plays a good game Sun, but if not, it's time to try and win a damn game. |

Like it or not, RG3 gives us the best chance to win any game he's healthy enough to play in. He needs time and reps in order to get better. Short term and long term, if healthy, there's NO benefit for the team or the player to him watching from the sidelines. |

Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
Regardless of whether he is fired or not, Snyder and the front office are in a majorly unenviable position, I tend to think.

Just my sense of humor my friend. I've never advocated anybody to be banned. That said, it was a shit topic to start a thread on. In the end, who gives a shit what Jon Gruden thinks. If he were here and he had made that trade, I assure you he wouldn't be benching Robert and starting Cousins. This team has a lot invested(salary and picks) in Robert and they are going to see this till the end. He's going to get 3 full years before he's yanked. |

I agree with you completely. Gruden had a strong disdain for RG3 monday night. Made me root for RG3 more and now I hate Gruden. |

I guess different people hear different things,I did not get the feeling at all that Gruden had disdain for RG3.I heard him say he likes RG3,and any criticism he said was deserved. And when he said a new coach might like Cousins better,it didnt sound to me like that was disdain for RG3,I thought it was more like be careful for what you wish for{if your hoping for a new coach}because the new coach might not be on board the RG3 train |

You've pretty much nailed it. |
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
I think it's very possible, but we'll worry about that in a month or so
Is this educated speculation on your part or more than that. I hope you're wrong, Gruden would be another 4-5 year disaster and would ensure RG3 is done in DC after next year.
|
Re: Gruden Says Start Cousins
Cousins will never play ever again in a Redskins uniform.
The Redskins mortgaged their future for a VERY long time to get RG3. they are stuck with him for lack of a better term. That means no matter how many new coaches, no matter how many games he loses, it doesn't matter. With all they gave up, RG3's job is safe for the next 5 years or longer... |
