Drink Recommendations
Anybody got a good vodka recommendation?
I like a good vodka martini and bloody mary from time to time. I typically buy Grey Goose because, well, damn it's smooth. But it's pricey. I've managed to find a rum and a tequila that aren't nearly as pricey as the top shelf, yet really hits the spot. No such luck so far on vodka. Skyy didn't do it for me, cool bottle but that's where it ended. I'll pony up for the Goose because it's dependable, but I love finding those diamonds in the rough that buck the 'pay for what you get' trend. Whatcha got? |
Re: Drink Recommendations
Ketel One since college. Ill do Stoli as well. Not a big Vodka fan...kinda grew up on it, taste like crap now. Did the take and refill with water trick on ole dad. he'd get so pissed.
Jack and Ginger these days...like the dryness of Jack. Actually sippin that now with Indica on the side. |
Avion tequila and Red Bull silver (lime flavor). Nice and easy.
|
Re: Drink Recommendations
Ketel One, Grey Goose, Stoli, Absolut (which is kinda eh, bottom/middle shelf for me. It's the budget alcohol), Belvedere.
Won't touch anything else. I'm not a big fan of Ciroc but people seem to like it. I think it's crap. |
Re: Drink Recommendations
Dump the overpriced GG and pick up some Tito's. Best bang for the buck by far.

Vodka?
Well, being that I was just watching the Big Lebowski the other day, a white russian is very good. |
Re: Drink Recommendations
Nothing fancy , Captain Morgan over ice with a splash of coke and lime.

Re: Drink Recommendations
I enjoy GG but just like wine there are great options that don't cost an arm and a leg. I love finding those.
|
Re: Drink Recommendations
By the way, if anybody's looking for an inexpensive light rum that mixes well give Olo a run.

Seriously, if you don't love it I'll be surprised. It's great stuff, I always have a bottle in my freezer. |
Re: Drink Recommendations
For rum i cant recommend Ron Rico enough. Bought it one day for the awesome name and fell in love. Excellent for mixing in everything. Very sweet compared to other rums.
Also Castillo Silver is pretty good, it has that Bacardi type rum taste (which im not a big fan of, but i think most people are). I think Castillo is Bacardi in a cheaper bottle. Probably best in frozen drink mixes. I can personally drink very cheap rum. I dont really do it with any other type liquor, at least willingly. |
Re: Drink Recommendations
I'm a Sky vodka drink but I also mix mine with stuff that makes its a waste to buy the top shelf stuff. Yesterday on the beach we made a very large batch of madrases (sp) 1/3 vodka 1/3 orange juice, 1/3 cramberry juice.
|
Re: Drink Recommendations
Yo Matty, seriously, thanks for the Tito's recommendation. Just picked some up yesterday, saving me like $15 compared to GG, and it's way better. Having a bloody mary now while watching the British Open, with a stalk of celery and a fresh green bean from my garden.
Great vodka. Actually has some flavor compared to the GG, you can smell the corn origins. I love it, can't see myself ever going back to the Goose. Thanks. |
Nice, glad you like it

Re: Drink Recommendations
Svedka Vodka is a must try. My buddy turned me on to it about 5 or so years ago it's priced right and to me its beats out Smirnoff and Grey Goose. My buddy has run liquor stores for some time now and knows his stuff. Look up Svedka its been rated high and has received awards for vodka. I've never tried Titos but seems interesting I'm going to have to give it a try.

Re: Drink Recommendations
Whats everybody sippin on these days in the hot summer weather beer-wise?
Ive had the Sammy Adams Summer Ale this year and its gross imo. Got a sixer of the Sierra Nevada Summerfest Lager in the fridge now, kinda of a disappointment but better than the Sams. Had a couple Leinenkugels Summer Shanty couple weeks ago and thought it was better this year than its been in the past, but still a lil bit too lemony. The last couple years Ive drank about of keg Heineken when Im in the hot outside weather. Light, nice eastern pils bit, and I can drink a six without being too buzzed. Any suggestions? |
Re: Drink Recommendations
I'm not a fan of most summer beers it seems. Hold the lemon when it comes to my beer.
Lately I've been sticking with a classic, Sierra Nevada Pale. Not too heavy, great taste, love that it's in a can now. Great for tossing in a cooler for the boat. |
Re: Drink Recommendations

No it is not in the Germany potion of Epcot they sell jager shots chilled. Edit: Here you go: Disney World Offers Beer, Wine at Magic Kingdom for First Time | TIME.com |
Re: Drink Recommendations
Summertime, I usually slum it up with Landshark or other mass produced light beers. Then bide my time until the Fall beers come out.
However, check out Flying Dog's Underdog Atlantic Lager. Very smooth, goes down easy, great summer time beer. |

Epcot is a different story. We only had a 5 min walk to Epcot and I tried to drink myself around the world drinking what ever each country was selling. Wine in Italy and beer and Jager shot in Germany. |

I honestly don't think I could do Disney and keep up with my kids at the same time under the influence of alcohol so probably for the best. I will just drink back at the room when the day is done. |

I agree but having a cold beer would have been nice. |

I'd fill the fridge. With the production they can do in Milton now, I really don't see why they couldn't put this on a short run. |

I basically buy anything that's on sale that is above the Jose Cuervo level. |
Re: Drink Recommendations
I stopped in the ABC store to pick up some Rye whiskey to make some Manhattans…went with Knob Creek Rye….but that not point. Up at the very front they had several bottles of Buffalo Trace and 2 bottle of Eagles Rare…winner winner chicken dinner. Got me a bottle of Eagle Rare. I haven’t seen either like in 4-5 years

Re: Drink Recommendations
Got my hands on a bottle of Lagavulin 11 Year Nick Offerman Edition, holy smokes this shit is so smoky and smooth. Seriously tasty stuff

Man I remember when Buffalo Trace was everywhere, and cheap too. Used to be able to pick it up for like $30. Now I see places trying to sell it for $60. It's good but plenty of better options at $60. |

It’s crazy what’s happen to that stuff and anything from that distillery I went up to the liquor store today…jeez, I can tell what everyone spent there Christmas money on, booze. They didn’t have shit up there..me and another rando grabbed the last 2 holiday pack of small batch Elijah Craig. Empty shelves for days. |
