Sons of Anarchy
Season 4 started tonight and I didn't watch it... In fact I'm a season behind, since Netflix hasn't started streaming season 3, I got directed to a website that has all of season 3 posted so I'm spending this week catching up in hopes that I can watch next week's episode.
I love this show! Man, I can't believe that no one else is watching. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Since I just bumped the what shows are you watching thread since I just got done watching the premiere of season 4 for SOA, I'll just repost my post in this thread. I honestly didn't think many members of this forum watch SOA judging from the limited interest in the shows thread, but I've been watching since the first season. Either way, here's my post from the other thread, and I've whited out the spoilers since apparently you're not caught up.
I've always loved the show but I feel like the first episode of season 4 wasn't as great as the ending to season 3. I guess it's just because I really enjoyed seeing Agent Stahl and Jimmy meet their makers in a brilliant plan and then saw what the future held with the letters from Jax's dad to Maureen Ashby. And I hoped to see a little more of the life in prison aspect for the 14 months the SOA members were inside. Either way the end to the episode was semi-suprising, I didn't expect to see them kill all the Russians like that, even though you could tell that's where it was headed from the discussions at the clubhouse. It does feel like the same problems are recurring again, what with the AUSDA guy trying to bring down the club on RICO charges, a hostile sheriff in town, and forces beyond their control that are just as smart as the club is. It'll be interesting to see what direction the show is headed. Personally I don't think Jax's plan to get him and his family out of the club will work without bloodshed of some kind occuring. I also felt like I could see some foreshadowing of the club's demise occuring, but with the twists in the plots of today's television we'll probably never know until it happens.
|
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Haha, thanks mooby.
I just find it surprising that not more people like it. I don't even like motorcycles or motorcycle gangs or anything but its terribly easy for me to understand and feel for the characters and really understanding the gang itself and the tear between how Jax wants the club to be based around brotherhood and Clay making the club turn towards racketeering. Ahhhh. It's so good. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
SOA is pretty popular. A fair amount around these parts too.
|
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Yeah I caught up on the show the same way and then watched season 3 on hulu. Just get ready for a crazy ass season while u watch season 3 haha.
|
Who else noticed that the new sheriff and the cop tailing the soa in the midst of the show looked very similar? N the tailing cop reminded me of xerces from 300 like nobody's business.
|
Re: Sons of Anarchy
It is a good show but not really my cup of tea
|
Re: Sons of Anarchy
I dig the fact that casting comes from shows like Deadwood and The Shield. On point, for sure.
Going to be interesting this season, as Jax has made up his mind. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
I thought the first show was awesome. Hints of some pretty good stuff to come in season 4!
|
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Got it DVR'd. I never finished season 3. Was also waiting for Netflix to stream that season. I'll watch it when I get home.

Go finish season 3. Easily the best season ending episode of any tv show I've seen recently. I'll just say this, after it was over, I felt like for once everything was going their way. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
I have an issue with the opening sequence....
You have 5-6 people rolling out the joint, hopping on bikes and riding away. How'd the extra 5-6 bikes get there? Still an enjoyable soap for men. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Alls I gots to say is I'm gettin my $7.99 worth from Netflix streaming.
|
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Holy crap that last episode was big. With all of these twists I can't wait to see what happens next. All I know is based of whats happened so far in this show, some people are not going to have things end well of them...

Re: Sons of Anarchy
I really feel bad for Juice... Chibs knows something is up.
And Unser is a standup guy for trying to help Tara out. Even if it is at his own risk. |

They are doing a great job this season of making me really hate Clay and I'm starting to wonder if Piney is planning something.. |

And Unser is a standup guy for trying to help Tara out. Even if it is at his own risk.
Yeah you could tell from the way Chibs looked at Juice that he knew something was up, so I think sometime in the next episode or so we should expect a confrontation from between the two. I really don't get the racism angle in the storyline though. There's been absolutely no hint of racism in the club since the show started, and now we're being led to believe that Juice would risk his life for the Sheriff because he thinks stealing coke is an easier thing to do than telling the club his father is black? I don't buy it. I think they're just setting up Juice's downfall, or someone else's downfall as a result of the situation. Besides, the club knows Juice is Puerto Rican, and Happy is Italian I think, and they have had no problems working with Niners/Mayans in the past when the opportunity suited them. One thing's for sure, in the words of Biggie, somebody's got to die. Whether its Clay, Piney, Jax (doubtful), Tara, Bobbie, Juice, Opie, or someone else the herd is gonna get thinned. I also can't believe how ruthless Clay is, they really want us to hate him with how willing he is to murder Tara, as well as Opie in the first season. He will kill anybody if its a means to an end. There's been a lot of "setting up" the storyline the last few episodes, now the action is gonna play out and someone's gonna get killed. |
According to some of the reading I've done, certain biker clubs don't let black members in just because it was a given rule from the beginning. There's several times where SAMCRO mentions they have no problem with black people- they just won't let them in for history's sake (yeah, it sounds like a friggin' racist country club). Remember when Juice asks Chibs about the club's stance on black members, the latter responds that it's just something that's been there from the club's inception and it's something they don't question... no matter how out of date it is. Of course they'll work with people of any color (and even patch over non-black minorities), but the no-black rule seems to be long-standing within certain biker clubs. I'm no bike club expert, by any means... but this is what I've gathered from the small amount I've read. I think it's cool that Sutter is even addressing the issue this season. Having said that, I don't feel bad for Juice at all. He'll get his from the club- and not because he's part black... he broke the rule. |

I think if Juice went to the club and told them that his dad was black, they'd just be like, w/e you're not, so it doesn't matter. Either way I think the whole Juice stealing coke angle is just setting up his exit from the show. Which is a shame, because I like Theo Rossi, but in the end he was directly responsible for another innocent patched members' death in addition to working with the 5-0. The whole angle is probably set up to make the audience feel indifferent to Rossi's character so nobody will be too upset when he dies in the end. Of course I could be entirely wrong, but that's the way I see this heading. |

Juice, we hardly knew ye. Forrealz though, I'm pretty sad. I liked Juice and what he brought to the table. It's a damn shame he's gone, although I had my suspicions it wouldn't end well for him. On another note I'm definitely interested to see where this leads to for the club. It's a little too soon for the climax of the season but it sounds like the club has bitten off more than it can chew, and it can only end badly. I hope they pull a switch somehow, but in real life whenever cartels come up it only ends badly. On another side note it sounds like the branch Juice was hanging from cracked while it faded to the SOA logo at the end, so I'll maintain a slight hint of doubt that he's dead until we see what happens next week. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Major spoiler alert, so please don't highlight this text if you don't want to know what happens next week.
I paused the preview for next week right as it shows the pickup truck doing a driveby on the clubhouse, and unfortunately for me it showed Juice at the table with the guys ducking down to avoid the gunfire, which means his suicide attempt failed. On one hand I'm happy because that means he's alive, but I also feel like it's a dumb cop out. |
Re: Sons of Anarchy
Yeah I'm thinking not dead
yet. |

'Tis only the start. More to come before the season is over, I'd bet. Wasn't that suprised by the events of tonight, I figured it was only a matter of time. |

Me either. There's been speculation with some of the fans (so no spoilers here) that Gemma's going to kill Clay at some point. God, I could only hope. |

God, I could only hope.
Oh I wish. But if everything went to plan in accordance with who deserves redemption on Clay, I think Opie and Jax would get dibs ripping him apart. He just killed Opie's first wife and father, so Opie deserves to get some justice there. And we already know why Jax will want a shot. Also on a sidenote this is the second time in two years I've been pissed at Directv. First for getting rid of Versus in a year where the Caps had plenty of games on Versus, and now for getting rid of FX, when I'm watching new seasons of SOA, It's Always Sunny, The League, and Archer in the new year. Those mf'ing pricks need to get their shit straight because not only do I have to pay for a bunch of channels I don't care about, they're also not carrying the channels I actually want to watch. Seriously why couldn't they get into a dispute with the Golf Channel? JFC. |

DTV seems to have been elected by the cable/satellite comps to be the one to finally make a stand on the content providers going crazy on rates. It'll get solved. |
Because Golf Channel and DirecTV went through this just last year. But got it resolved before anyone noticed

I'm sure it'll get solved, but how long is the question. Last time with Versus, it was 7 months, and almost to the end of the NHL season, before it got resolved. My frustrations with DTV is the fact that last time this happened with Versus, it was way too long and barely even mattered by the time it got resolved, since the Caps regular season was winding down already. I just don't want that to happen again. If it's a week, two weeks, fine, but if I have to wait until March to get it back then it won't matter because the seasons of the tv shows I watch will be long gone. I understand most, if not all, of the blame needs to go to News Corp/Fox on this one, but I'm annoyed that it keeps happening to Directv. At the same time, it's a lose-lose for the consumer because if Fox wins our rates go up for the same product we've always gotten, and if DTV wins it probably means a lengthy holdout like the Versus situation (which was all about DTV wanting to put it on a sports tier instead of the regular tier). Long story short, the above is just me venting my frustrations at a holdout that's going to suck. |

Re: Sons of Anarchy
Fox Networks and DIRECTV have reached an agreement for DIRECTV to continue carrying all Fox Networks (including FX, National Geographic Channel, Nat Geo WILD, SPEED, FUEL TV, FOX Soccer, FOX Soccer Plus and FOX Deportes), Fox’s regional sports networks, Fox Broadcasting (FOX), the FOX local stations, Fox News Channel and Fox Business Network. We both know the past ten days have been challenging, but we’re pleased that both sides could eventually come together to ensure our viewers continue to enjoy Fox programming.
