Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
I just got a text on it...from "sources extremely close to JJ"
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
that really sucks.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Another reason pre-season blows.
#@$*&+@#! |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Ah man! So much for JJ this season! :(
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
F*ck!!! And yeah this was posted on Twitter
"Rick Maese RT @Jarvis99jenkins Redskin fans thanks for the support I love you all...unfortunately it is a ACL tear...." F*ck, f*ck, f*ck!! Ugh. |
Great
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
So does this mean IR for him? :(
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
NOOOOOOOO! We finally draft a quality Dlineman and then this happens!?!? Best of luck to him in recovery.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
This is terrible news. Sorry JJ.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Damn, sad news. Hopefully he comes back just as strong.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Always expect some bad news in every season, but this really sucks cause he was having such a good preseason. Seems like a good kid that was aware of criticism of his play after the draft & came in to show everybody that he could be a great player.
On the positive side, I thought it may have been overkill to sign Bowen & draft JJ, but obviously now that Bowen signing & the re-signing of Golston is looking pretty good. |

Guess in hindsight it was a good plan. Can't have enough quality d-lineman. Just sucks to lose JJ because he could play all 3 spots. I wonder if Phillip Daniels is ready to go? |

Told you it was an ACL. This sucks I had really high expectations for him after his performance in camp this year. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
The small blessing is the timing of this. He should be ready to go by camp next year.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Of course! What a shame he was a stand out now who knows
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
DAMN.......IT. Really like what I see outta' that guy. Feel bad for him. Hope he can come back strong next year....Damn.....Damn it to HELL....and back
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
This sucks for him. I hope he works really hard on his recovery cause he can play in this league.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Damn that sucks.. Shame that he's going to miss his rookie season because he was reportedly the star of camp. Expect Daniels to re-sign sometime after game one so they don't have to guarantee his contract. Man, this is a huge bummer.

Agreed, but we still have too many position battles/roster decisions to take it all the way easy right? |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Philip Daniels: I appreciate the love guys. They still have backups. Don't really think I will get a call just yet. Let's see (cont) TwitLonger — When you talk too much for Twitter

You just don't know what will happen in the future with regards to a currently "set" position. They just might not be as good as you think they are. Then, in couple years, that "set" position suddenly becomes a weakness. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
People seem have misconceptions about ACLs, and hence they expect people to be "disabled" temporarily. It is unfathomable to them to expect someone to even walk after an ACL tear.
Well, you can certainly WALK on an ACL. Hell, there's even a basketball player who has played with no ACL. |

I didn't get mine repaired till 2 years after the fact and after the swelling went down, I was able to walk normal with it. Any sort of side to side motion or attempt at running and I would feel a slight twinge which would stop me from that activity. Depending on the severity of the tear is really what it boils down to. A good majority of the time, knee cartilage is also torn. I couldn't walk on it right away. A basketball player playing with a ACL? Not good I imagine...lol |

I don't actually follow pro basketball; I found out because I was trying to get more info on Josh Gorges, who played hockey without an ACL for about 7 years with the help of a special brace. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
Never had mine repaired since I am not an athlete anymore and did not feel like going through the rehab. I can go to the gym, jog (not really run though) and even play a littler bit of racketball from time to time. For a professional athlete obviously it need to be repaired for them to be able to reach anything approaching there previous level of play. The sooner he does this the better in my opinion

Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
+1 on the bring back Daniels -- he's such a great presence on the team, and should still be able to contribute.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
You hate to see it happen. It's why so many guys hate preseason. Jenkins is a hard worker and will do everything within his power to get back on the field as soon as possible. Nothing soothes the loss however.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
I had huge hopes for him. I hope he recovers well.
|
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
F*ck the preseason. If you're going to tear an ACL, wouldn't you rather it happen in the regular season?
Should have reduced the preseason by 2, expanded to 18 regular season games, and started training camp earlier with an offsetting reduction in spring OTAs. |
Re: Redskins DE Jarvis Jenkins Has Torn ACL
The one positive about Jenkins getting hurt, is that he will have lots of time to rehab, lift weights and get stronger next year. The knock on him was 19 reps at 225LBS, let's see what he can do next year.
Another reason pre-season blows.
#@$*&+@#!
Coming from somebody that has torn multiple acls and even more ligaments, I feel like I've become pretty educated on this matter. I knew it was a torn acl the moment it happened. This had nothing to do with pre-season. How easily it happened shows us his knee was a ticking time bomb. He was going to tear it eventually, better sooner than later. |
