Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

NFL.com news: Bengals owner holds firm on denial of Palmer's trade request

All I can say is:
1. Palmer better make good on his retirement threat
and...
2. The owner is a moron.

That's why the Bunguls won't win anything. Ego over business!!!

For all the shit we gave Dan Snyder, just be glad our owner isn't Mike Brown. He's more concerned with money than he is with winning.

Re: Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

Not surprising. I know people like to sh*t on our ownership, but the Bengals could have easily have a ton of picks between Chad Ochocinco (a season or two ago) and now Palmer. Whoever loses out on the Kolb sweepstakes is likely to overpay for Palmer is he was available.

Not a surprise. But also, what else is he going to say?

They need to have a reality show on some NFL people and name it "Biggest Idiot". Each week, they each act as normal and the one that does the least idiotic thing gets booted off. Cast so far:

Mike Brown
Al Davis
Vinny Cerrato
Daniel Snyder
Jerry Jones
AJ Smith

I just pity Bengal fans sometimes. Brown could have had a 1st and 3rd (potentially another 1st based on performance escalators) for Ocho a few years back courtesy of our very own village idiot. They turn that down and now are turning down at least a 2nd rounder for Palmer, who would rather get nothing than deal him. This situation reminds me exactly what happened to Barry Sanders. The Lions were getting offers for Barry years after he retired..lol ****ing idiots.

Well even if they were planning on trading him, they'd probably say they weren't. Given that they aren't able to trade him right now, there is no reason for them to tell everyone they are going to. Only the redskins destroy a players value before trading them.

I wouldn't say that. Rather he's more concerned with winning meaningless battles then he is with winning the war.

Someone is going to give. I doubt Palmer will retire. That sounds like an idle threat. He had a tough season this past year too, I'm sure he doesn't want to go out on that note.

The Eagles have been open about trading away Kolb... is that destroying his value?

I would just say in that case folks can draw a line to Vick as the reason they are trading him, maybe if the Bengals were open to trading away Palmer some may thing he has diminishing talent thus lowering his value.

Re: Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

Scratch that what I said earlier about offering Mike Brown a 1st and 3rd. Vinny has set the record straight once and for all. That idiot offered Brown TWO #1 picks for Ocho.

The Redskins once offered two No. 1 picks for Chad Ochocinco - DC Sports Bog - The Washington Post
“I mean, I was part of trying to trade for Chad Ochocinco, and when they said no, they meant no. And Marvin [Lewis] would have done it. Two No. 1s, that’s exactly what it was. And I talked to Katie Blackburn’s husband all the time, and he just said listen. I talked to him at the owners’ meetings, and I called him. He said no is no, quit calling, we’re not trading him...
I remember Ocho was over the age of 30 at the time, and this clown offered two No. 1s for him. How this clown still gets interviews is beyond me. How Mike Brown still is able to walk around Cincinnati is beyond me. They should run that guy out of town for turning down that for Ocho. I'm glad they saved us from ourselves. Much like the Bears did with Briggs.

I don't know why he's saying that now, because it wasn't two no. 1's. And I know that's not what he said two years ago, or however long ago it was.

Oh well, in the past now.

Can you pull some strings at your work to make sure this clown never gets anymore airtime ever again? I'll even pay...lol

I think the whole thing about diminishing a player's value is way overblown. Teams have a good idea of what other teams are doing and thinking regardless of what is said in public. Acknowledging a player is on the trade block isn't an uncommon tactic, nor does it ruin trade value like some seem to think.

I would be dumb for them to trade Kolb if they can keep him without huge cap ramifications. Vick had a nice start last season, but sort of faded to his ATL type days at the end there.

Re: Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

On the flip side, Brown is holding a hard line cause if he lets Palmer go then it could open the flood gates. At this point I'm not even sure Palmer would command a lot of draft picks.

Re: Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

You know what's going to happen: We'll trade a 2nd for Palmer, he'll flop here while his kid brother Jordan (a former Redskin) will lead the Bengals back to glory

Seriously though, I find it so curious that Jordan Palmer is penciled in as the Bengals starter right now and could be (if Carson leaves) taking over for his brother who wants out of there so badly. Must be a fun conversation at the family dinner table

Re: Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

The thing that Palmer said that kinda surprised me was him talking about just how bad and delapidated (did I spell that right FD?) conditions of their facilities. I forgot he's exact words now but a mental picture of that fly infested tub of water the coach in waterboy was serving to his players came to mind.

I figured there would be a small quality difference in facilities from team to team in the NFL but the way he described it . . it sounded like a poorly funded HS team.

I cant really blame him, hes been there for awhile and while he was paid well for his services, at some point he has to value the chance of winning more than pay checks.

I like it, the guy wants to win or atleast play on a team that takes winning seriously.

Would that ochocinco trade meant we wouldnt have had the pick to get orakpo? Thank gosh that didnt go down.

Re: Bungles owner does not plan to trade Carson Palmer

The Bengals facilities are known for being among the worst in pro sports. But one of Marvin Lewis' conditions to return was improved facilities, including I believe an indoor practice facility.

But honestly, the Redskins facilities haven't been all that great either. Though far better than the Bengals from what I've heard. Allen has led major improvements to the facilities starting with the weight room
