Ranking the Owners

Interesting power ranking given that there is nothing of actual note to rank

Power Rankings: Top 10 NFL owners - AFC East Blog - ESPN

Giants come in at 4, Eagles next at 5, even Jerrah cracks the top 10 at 8. Dan Snyder nowhere to be found (big surprise) and is not even in the discussion for being in the top half of the league.

Personally, I feel the SB fiasco from last year should kick Jerry out of the top 10. But I'm just being a biased I guess.

Re: Ranking the Owners

If Snyder keeps what he have been doing since last year; within a few years, he will crack the top 10.

What has Danial Snyder done to warrant ranking?

I'm with you and I don't think we are all that biased. The arguments produced for Jones were not that strong. And the fact that he has won nothing in almost 20 years should have been considered more strongly.

I think the Vinny Ceratto stink is lingering on Snyder. It will take a long time to wash that smell out. It will take a SB win for Snyder to crack the to 10.

Snyder has a long way to go. I would say you need to be a frequent contender to get on that list.

It's what the general audience wants. Love 'em or hate 'em the Cowboys draw attention. None of the key decision makers here are Cowboys fans.

I've never understood that. Why? Carryover from their mid-90's hey day?

I mean, the Steelers draw tons of attention and have some of the most well traveled fans in all of sports, but they don't get that kind of air-time in Bristol... Just saying, talk to your boys about us seeing less about the 'Boys. ;)

I think it's because Dallas isn't on the East or West coast so when fans wanted a team to root for that wasn't in NY, LA, Chicago ETC. it was the Cowboys. Even when I lived close to New Orleans, most folks were Dallas fans.

Well, I think as much of seems to have to do with people that don't like the Cowboys are interested in what they're doing, especially if what they're doing isn't positive.

Basically Cowboys have people that love them and hate them. Steelers have people that love them and don't really care about them.

Re: Ranking the Owners

On the football side of the organization, Daniel Tender Snyder's big mistake up until his hiring of the current coach-GM duo was trying to play the role of CEO(aka top MANAGER) with his lackey, Vinny, when neither had the competency to for such a job, both in the people skills area and technical expertise area.

Now, unlike other idiot fans who say that "he should just sign the checks" like a robot, he should be allowed to voice some concern here or there, but he should not be trying to impede on their job like a micromanaging bitch.

From Dallas's perspective, they deal with:
Large enemy markets
Large home market

That means a lot of people care about the affairs of the Dallas Cowboys, whether it's out of love or out of hate.

Re: Ranking the Owners

I think a more interesting ranking would be the bottom 10. Among them would be the elder Bidwell, Mike Brown, Jerry Richardson, Jerry Jones, Bud Adams, and Snyder. Personally I want to move Snyder to the middle of the pack but hiring a competent front office for two years doesn't make up for putting your unqualified best friend in office for 9 years. Not to mention suing the paper and draining every bloody cent you can get your hands on.

Elder Bidwell - Didn't even try to win until he learned that the state wouldn't build a stadium for a loosing team. The Younger Bidwell is the complete opposite in that he wants to win and will make the Cardinals contenders for years to come.

Mike Brown - Stubborn, impulsive, meglomaniac. A big part of the reason the Bengals are regularly picking in the top 10 for the last 2 decades.

Jerry Richardson - A walking stereotype.

Jerry Jones - The main requirement of a good owner for me is that you stay out of 99% of all football decisions. If your team is trying to resign a franchise QB or a $100 million DT then you have good reason to be a little more hands on but other then that GTFO.

Jones is the complete opposite and I'm just chomping at the bit for the Parcells foundation of Romo, Ware, Austin, Witten, Gurode, and Newman to crumble and return to the Quincy Carter, Dave Campo , Jurruh foundation.

Bud Adams - Does so many things right but as I said with Jurruh the main qualification is staying out of 99% of football decisions and when you force a QB onto your head coach, well thats a recipe for disaster.

Glazers - Generally good owners but times are tough they can turn cheap in a hurry.

Al Davis - Drafting a 3rd round receiver in the top 10, UDFA's in the second round. Hiring a woman beating coach then keeping him for doing a good job on the football field only to change your tune a year later and talk about how he embarrassed the Raiders with his off field behavior.

Hiring a high school student to be his head coach. Trading away one of the best coaches in the game for an elite Corner and a fringe NFL player. Forcing a terrible QB on his coach. A history of cheating when the team was successful (watch America's Game with the Raiders, Just Win is more like Just Cheat). Signing players to big contracts simply because they played well in the Super Bowl (See Desmond Howard and Larry Brown). Drafting a kicker in Round 1.

Just pray to God Snyder doesn't get this bad.

Ralph Wilson- Hiring Chan Gailey as your head coach when guys like Leslie Fraizer were available is enough for me.

Ford Family - Have experienced a Snyder like turnaround after getting rid of a GM that should have been fired a long time ago. Still there was no reason to Keep Millen after 06.
