Owens out 7-8 weeks, will go into surgery on Wed

I don't have all the details, but a really bad ligiment tear and a fracture on the fibula about 10 cm long. Best case scenario is he is back for the SuperBowl, but they are saying he would be able to ride the bike in 3 weeks and run in 7 weeks.

7 weeks from yesterday is Superbowl Sunday.

Don't have any links, just watching the press conference now...

saden1 12-20-2004 04:24 PM

There SB hopes are pretty much down the shitter without him.

SmootSmack 12-20-2004 04:33 PM

No tights for Andy Reid I guess

It kind of sucks though because we need Philly to win next week don't we?

JoeRedskin 12-20-2004 04:42 PM

Yes we do. They are playing in St. Louis. I think they can still beat the Rams even w/out Owens but it will be a lot tougher. Maybe they will consider it a "statement game' - to show they can win w/out Owens.

St. Louis plays the Jets in the final game the Rams could lose that one easily too. Of course, the Jets will probably already have their seeding set (1st WC) and may just phone it in.

Daseal 12-20-2004 04:44 PM

The Rams still starting Chandler?

This is good news for the Eagles not making the SB!

Davnpurt 12-20-2004 04:56 PM

I would never applaud the injury of an athlete but I must add that Karma is a sharp boomerang Mr. Owens. Word out of Philly is one of despair. The receiving core looks like a whose-who of human crap. Stinkston and Freddie Mitchell barely suffice as CFL'ers. Maybe they can pick-up Andre Rison off the waiver-wire.

Riggo44 12-20-2004 05:09 PM

Did you say the Eagles are going to loose T.O for most of the playoffs? Cry me a river! It's about time they got hit by the injury bug. We've been snake bitten all year.
I still think they will beat the Rams.

:httr:

kingerock 12-20-2004 05:21 PM

Well they've had their injuries too, but T.O. has carried that team on his shoulders. Now it falls back onto McNabb who has proven for the last 3 years that he can't do it. Pinkston is now their #1 WR. Who is in charge of personell decisions over there that the best they can do at #2 is Todd Pinkston!

What this does though is let teams in the playoffs with good defenses (Atlanta, maybe Carolina, maybe Washington, etc) change the gameplan to stop Westbrook and McNabb from running. They can now stuff 8 in the box and let CBs play man coverage on the outside because the WRs wont be a threat. Now you can spy McNabb with a LB and keep him from running for 1st downs. Now you can blitz, and he fumbles the ball alot when hit from the blindside the way he holds it.

The chances of them making the playoffs aren't impossible, and the NFC is still weak enough where they are a top team. But they wont be able to go downfield and they are very one dimensional now and very beatable.

la73hof 12-20-2004 06:19 PM

Roy WIlliams its literally breaking bones the in 2 of the last 5 games

The first and grotesque on Musa Smith on nearly the same type of tackle

Now TO..couldnt happen to a bigger piece of shat

Now, when Philly fans starts talking shat even though they havent and wont win a SB remember...theyre not the Eagles...theyre the Eisenhowers

because it was the 2nd to last month of the Dwight Eisenhower administration when they won their last title

How many here can even say they were even alive then?...I cant

Gmanc711 12-20-2004 06:33 PM

Awww, it couldnt have happend to a nicer guy...

MTK 12-20-2004 06:35 PM

Now the NFC is definitely WAY up in the air, this really changes everything.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 12-20-2004 06:36 PM

I Found My Self Actually Pulling For The Cowboys Yesterday.i Respect To's Talents, but I Hate His Antics,i Hope His Dam Ankle Falls Off.the Eagles Can't Win Without Him.the Skins And The Cowboys Both Should Have Beat Them The Last Two Weeks, there Is No Way They Make It To The Superbowl, they Choke Once Again.

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 12-20-2004 07:24 PM

They'll still get to the SB, but definately lose it. Who else in the NFC is a threat to the Eagles when playing at the Linc?

aehs77 12-20-2004 09:23 PM

eagles will win next week but not again this year

joecrisp 12-20-2004 09:36 PM

Who ever thought Vick and the Falcons would beat Favre and the Packers at Lambeau in the playoffs a couple years ago?

Maybe Vick can pull off another playoff upset against the Eagles. I hope so, but I agree the Eagles are still the favorite to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, even without TO. The rest of the NFC is just so weak this year, I don't think it matters if they have TO or not.

skin4Life28 12-20-2004 10:47 PM

Who thought the Eagles would lose two NFC Championships at home. It will just be three after this year. If they get to the NFC Championship. www.philadelphiaeagles.com and do the poll, quite amusing.

that was the same thought I had. I'll never think lightly of a team with a player like vick who can change the aspect of the game in seconds in multiple ways. And winning in Lambeau in january is a bit more of a daunting task than winning in phili.

Karma has a way of bitting people and the ass and I think this is pretty damn funny for iggle fans to have gotten their hopes up so high and seeing people need full sticks of chapstick for as much ass as they kiss in relation to mcnugget and the eagles and now their season could easily go down in a fiery tailspin.

skinsguy 12-21-2004 12:09 AM

Brian Westbrook is really going to have to step up for the Eagles. When I think of their offense, I think of two weapons for McNabb to go to: Owens and Westbrook! The Eagles can't really rely too heavily on their defense to get them through the playoffs so I will say they are hurting quite a bit! This certainly does leave the NFC wide open!

FRPLG 12-21-2004 12:21 AM

Remember...watching the Eagles lose is almost as good as watching the Skins win. This bolsters my hopes that Philly does in fact get to the championship game again and lose. People will riot if this happens.

No more talk of the playoffs...the last time we did this we crapped out with a minute left against the feebles. Lets just see what happens.

Luxorreb 12-21-2004 05:26 AM

If we sneak into the playoffs anything is possible!

JoeRedskin 12-21-2004 08:23 AM

I normally oppose taking enjoyment from injuries to ANY player - but TO's arrogance just makes it hard to resist. Hey, if he didn't want me celebrating - he shouldn't have gotten injured!

But it's the Philly fans I really weep for ... NOT

At the Philly game, a couple of them were bragging that nothing and nobody could stop them from winning the NFC. Hmmmm, guess fate gets a little insulted when you take her for granted.

SKINSnCANES 12-21-2004 10:18 AM

So is the requirement to be a receiver for the eagles to not look for the ball and keep your hands in your pocket. Because for the right amount ofmoney ill run across the middle a few times.

BrudLee 12-21-2004 10:28 AM

TO has had a stellar season, but it continues to be all about TO.

The Eagles were confident that his presence would open up the passing game for the other WRs on the roster. Through 14 games, non-Owens wideouts have a total of 60 catches - with one TD. They also have a reputation for softness (especially Pinkston - the last two games have killed his reputation) that will be difficult to overcome. I hope they can keep it together this week - we need them to beat the Rams for a miracle playoff berth - but it's going to be a Westbrook/Chad Lewis/L.J. Smith Christmas for them if they do.

FRPLG 12-21-2004 10:38 AM

Andy Reid is a good coach and will cobble together a good plan to go on without Owens. The question is how does the team react mentally now? The Skins showed how to play this team. Pungh 'em in the mouth and most of them fold. I think they are doomed unless McNabb and Reid can pull off a miracle. Their plan all year was a quick strike type potent offense. This bolstered their sagging defense by forcing teams to throw the ball. Now they have little in the way of true downfield threats. They're only weapons are McNabb and Westbrook. Not bad weapons at all but we all know about McNabbs inability to bring them to the promise land without TO and I think Westbrook is going to have a tough time now that there will be a man freed up since the the permanent double team of TO is gone. STill a good team though so who knows.

Daseal 12-21-2004 10:49 AM

Are the Rams still stuck with Chandler? If so I think Jim Johnson could win the game alone!

BossHog 12-21-2004 12:22 PM

Todd "Pinkeye" Pinkston is such a wimp. Had to get that out of my system. I hope Sellers has a chance to blast Roy Williams sunday. He's good for a personal foul or two. At least make them count.

VTSkins897 12-21-2004 03:07 PM

it sucks. i like TO alright at least enough to where i wouldn't wanna see him hurt. i do hate the eagles though so kinda glad their sb hopes are hit, even in this crappy way.

saden1 12-21-2004 09:23 PM

I love this video. Todd Stinkston....that is classic.

monk81 12-22-2004 08:29 AM

After the Cowboys and the Lakers, the next team I just HATE is the Eagles and especially Terrell!!!!!! (okay so I liked when he danced in the star in Dallas...) so
I'm happy that this big mouth (it's all about me) guy got hurt! ....:silly:...maybe ESPN will now stop his stupid commericials. If you ask me McNabb and Westbrook are the REAL stars on the Eagles. The Redskins did a nice job on shutting down Terrell too....it was Westbrook that had the big game against us.

MTK 12-22-2004 09:05 AM

Imagine for a second you're an Eagles fan.

3 straight seasons of being teased with the Super Bowl. 3 straight losses in the NFC Championship.

You go out and get one of the biggest playmakers in the league. Your QB takes his game to the next level with his new go to WR. You're cruising through the weak NFC, everyone's Super Bowl favorite, and now this happens.

I'd be crying myself to sleep each night, LOL.

No different then us Redskins fans waiting since our last Super Bowl in 92 and waiting and waiting, waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting and waiting, and waiting and waiting all these years for the Redskins to return to the Super Bowl.....we'd be happy with just making the playoffs....sigh!!!!! So we can cry a river........the Eagles have only gone through this 3 seasons.. years...huh! :silly:
