Zorn Fired
Ravens fire Zorn; Cameron to handle quarterbacks | AP Outdoors - The News Tribune
Zorn's release came after a seven-hour meeting this week with Cameron and coach John Harbaugh in which they questioned him about Joe Flacco's development this season, a league source said. |
Re: Zorn Fired
I thought Zorn was on his way out for a job in Cleveland or back in Seattle anyway. I wonder if the Ravens are going to fire their WR coach given those huge drops in the playoff game by Boldin and TJ Housh.
|
Re: Zorn Fired
That's unfortunate.......... right????? Am I supposed to feel bad?????? At all????!??!
Good riddance. |
Re: Zorn Fired
I guess he'll end up in Cleveland or Seattle.
|
Re: Zorn Fired
I don't get the blind hate for Zorn. Dude was over his head and the fools that hired him should get the blame. He's not blameless, but he wasn't the only problem in this team.
|
Re: Zorn Fired
It's not his fault that Joe Flacco sucks. To use the Vince Young analogy. In 2009 Joe Flacco was 3-7 against teams with a .500 or more record, in 2010, he's 5 and 4 against teams above 500(including the playoffs). So in 2 years, he's 8-11 against teams above 500. That cleary has nothing to do with Zorn. JC has his best statistical year under Zorn. He may suck as a head coach, but he's a good QB coach IMO.

Statistically Flacco had a better year too. Someone mentioned that there was a difference in philosophy with the OC, that doesn't mean Zorn sucks a position coach. |

Campbell actually had a higher TD%, higher YPA, and lower INT% this season. Not to mention some of Campbell's production last year came against San Diego's backups. |

Apparently it is necessary to talk about Zorn and Campbell over and over and over again and over again. |
Re: Zorn Fired
Zorn probably stunted Flacco's growth but the Off Cord. Cam Cameron wasn't remotely competent after week 6 lets say. So while Zorn was a pud- he sorta seems like the scapegoat for Cams failures.

..............and you know this ....how? |
Re: Zorn Fired
Against the Steelers in the playoffs the play calling on the goal line sucked.IMO the OC should of got the axe.Troy Smith would of been a better QB with the Ravens if he got a chance with the talent they have.
|
Re: Zorn Fired
I sort of feel bad for Zorn, but the more you hear about him, the more it seems that he isnt able to do his job.
he's been fired 2 straight times now. For his sake i hope he can go back to seattle and finish out his career... |

I know................ This guy shouldn't have anything to do with football. |
Re: Zorn Fired
You guys realize that Flacco had a better season last year than he did in '09 right? I forgot who said it but I think they said it best when talking about Zorn: He actually did a good job as the qb coach in B-more but he has a difference in philosophy with Cam Cameron, which prob. led to his departure.
|
Re: Zorn Fired
Yeah I think in this case they just wanted to give more autonomy to Cameron, which makes sense. Zorn will catch on somewhere else.
|
Re: Zorn Fired
Poor Z-Man, he'll have to put his house on the market! He was lucky to be fired as skins head coach but not have to relocate for his next job. Unless U. Maryland hires him, or he becomes Georgetown's head coach, he'll be moving.

I agree, the WR coach needed to go first. Flacco put those balls on the money and they were dropped. |
Re: Zorn Fired
People, please. Zorn is a very good QB coach. Look how he developed Matt Hasselback. Joe Flacco looked pretty good to me this year. As what others had said, it's more or less a difference of philosophy between Zorn and Cameron. And after watching that game against the Steelers, I'd probably fire Cam Cameron if I had a choice, but that's purely a different topic.
Zorn's a good guy, good position coach. Any team would be lucky to have him on the coaching staff. |

I was surprised they were able to co-exist with three former head coaches working together on the offense. What's the saying? Too many Indians, not enough Chiefs? |

Posting in a Zorn hater thread.

You better show up at moderator OTAs. You slipping.... Gotta stay in top offseason form. Don't want one of these new upstarts to overtake you on the depth chart. |
Re: Zorn Fired
Zorn was a bad hire from the beginning. It was a horrible hire. It's not his fault, as he's a good guy. No OC experience? Bad hire. I believe we interviewed Jim Schwartz and Rex Ryan too. Cerrato and Snyder chose Zorn? Hmmm. I don't think he ever offered Jim Schwartz. He may have offered Ryan, i don't know.
Kind of feel bad for him for getting canned in Bmore though. |
Re: Zorn Fired
Lets see if I got this right?.....
Zorn (QB Coach) to Zorn (HC)= Fail. Zorn (HC) to Zorn (QB Coach)= Fail. Hmm, does this mean Zorn is a failure or a system guy? I think his best bet right now is for Holmgren to find a way to utilize him. Hopefully he can get his "mojo" back. |

Our choices we were left with were Zorn or Fassel. I'll admit I felt Zorn was the better choice and felt I'd rather give a new up start a chance vs. picking up an aged Fassel. and... I'll admit that mistake also. Isn't Fassel being looked at by another team? I thought someone interviewed him for either a HCing job or position coach. |

Yeah, he also posted a clearly political thread in the parking lot (not the politics section) SS is definitely in the top 10 mods, but he needs to work on his game a bit. Let's hope he doesn't skip the voluntary mod OTA's like he has threatened to. |

Fighting a cold today. A bit dehydrated and my cardiovascular endurance isn't where it should be right now...that's my excuse.

I thought you were going to say you had to stop to take a dump half way through writing a post since your cardiovascular endurance isn't where it should be... lol |

This kind of thing can only happen on a Redskins forum. You don't find this sort of thing going on anywhere else in NFL forums. So sick and tired of big names always letting us down. He say's "he sick and dehydrated" but we all know he's just here for the $$$. Lets hope we can get something for him in this off season. Let the SS hater threads begin! |

One winning season and he's on board... He may be in the closet a while. |
