London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Redskins add a pair of Pro Bowlers | ProFootballTalk
It may be quicker at some point to list the players that haven’t been invited to the Pro Bowl. Redskins defenders Brian Orakpo and London Fletcher were the latest two players to get the call on Monday. Fletcher replaces Chicago’s Brian Urlacher, who won’t play due to disinterest injury. Orakpo replaces Green Bay’s Clay Matthews. Orakpo had 8.5 sacks. Fletcher makes the game for the second straight year. Along with DeAngelo Hall, the league’s 31st-ranked defense now has three members going to the league’s All Star game.
Hall, Orakpo and Fletcher being in the pro bowl I guess kind of makes up for being the 31st ranked total defense? |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
BIG Congrats to Fletcher!
|
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Disinterest injury.
WTF? |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Glad he made it....However its tough to justify having 3 people in the probowl on a 31st ranked Defense isnt it?
|
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Well this is going to happen with the new probowl schedule. Beside all that, the probowl is a popularity contest based on sportscenter highlights and stats which dont paint the whole picture.
If anything, Fletch should have been the only Redskin to make it, IMO. Maybe Moss with his catches? |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
honestly they should just present a all nfc team a all afc team and all pro team and then be done with it, no need to actually play the game but i am sure there is profit in that game so it will always be played.

WTF?
I went on a blind date several years back...totally shredded my interest. |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
that's great for Fletch ... yeah we have 3 pro bowlers from a 31st ranked team but clearly this shows you that we have 3 pieces that are a large part of the solution .. here's hoping #59 can give us another solid 2-3 years
Disinterest injury.
WTF?
Hmmm, that's how a former girlfriend described our first sexual encounter. The relationship was short lived ... |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Good for FLETCH. He deserves! If we had a bunch of REDSKINS that played the game and cared as much as LF even in the later part of his career, we would be getting ready for a trip to Dallas.
|
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Not the way I'd like to see my Redskins earn a spot in a Pro Bowl, but I'll take it! It's good to know we have three going now instead of only one (and it was a questionable pick at that!)
Of course I hardly ever watch the Pro Bowl, unless the brunettes in the bikinis that are on the commercial are going to be there, then I might tune in...LOL! |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
59 deserves it every year.. class act
|
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Ok question how does this work? You add 2 becuase 2 drop out ....now are they the starters or are the 2nd and thirds moved up?

That's why the Pro Bowl is a complete joke and they should just do away with it. No one wants to play in it and it's watered down to the point where 3 guys from the worst defense in the NFL are playing. |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
The PB is an individual honor, nothing to do with any team rankings.
It's possible to have a few good players on a bad unit. |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
I feel bad that Fletcher needs other people to decline to go. He probably should have been our only person going to the pro-bowl. I'd argue D Hall isn't the best CB on this team, let alone one of the top NFC corners.

Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Wow, Im suprised Jim Haslett wasnt invited-Buahahahaha

I don't think DeAngelo Hall deserves it. Had it not been for that one game in Chicago, he most likely wouldn't be going. He still gets beat FAR too often to warrant a pro-bowl selection. Wasn't he one of the worst rated CBs in terms of giving up passes/TDs compared to others? Guy is completely overrated. That said, I can see why they have Rak in there, but Fletcher's numbers have been going down since 2005. (solo tackles, not assists) My guess is that age is catching up to him. 2nd worst defense |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Explain how D. Hall doesn't deserve it? Don't say "Had it not been for the Chicago game," fact is he caught 4 picks that game. He single handedly won us 2 games this year and how can you say he's not the best CB on the team. Who is? Carlos? Please!

Hall. If Hall doesnt deserve it, neither do these guys: Antoine Winfield, Brent Grimes and Tramon Williams. Because hall is better than all of them. There is more to it than INT's which Hall just happens to also lead the pack. Guess I'm watching a different D. Hall As far as Fletcher, He is the textbook NFL ILB. |

Who is our best CB on our team? Carlos "Butter-hands" Rogers? |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
I find it hilarious that Redskins fans will argue against one of their own players having any kind of positive noteworthy recognition. I'd even be happy with Carlos Rogers being in the Pro Bowl. The fact that we have three players going to the Pro Bowl is outstanding, even if two of them were just alternates.

Cheers to that. I get tired of hearing fans crap on any positive news too. |

He can still play at the same level, demolishing anyone who comes across the middle. Ask Brandon Jacobs if Fletch can hit. |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Fletcher isn't even a top NFL middle linebacker. He's just an average player now. Solid high character guy and all but not a top tier player anymore.
|
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
He's far from average.

I think our best performer this year was pretty much a tie between Moss Landry and Fletch. I think the probowl should consist of players selected by the players on each team 50% and coaches for players on other teams 50% Fans in mass don't know jack....they usually just vote for a guy that got in the prior year...RAK did not deserve it this year IMO....just like Samuals didn't deserve his last pro bowl. Not saying that I am not excited....just saying there are plenty of players that are left home that had stellar years because there is some more familiar name talked about during the games. What I find interesting are the 1st probowl inductees...these guys are usually in completely on the merit of the year they had, unless it was for some slight in the past such as Fletch. I just dont like this voting thing...reminds me of the BCS ranking problem. I do trust coaches and players opinions though. |

really,????????? |
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Don't forget that LaRon Landry would have made it too so we could have had 4 Defensive players really! lol
|
Re: London Fletcher the Pro Bowler again!
Cracks me up how we have the 31st ranked defense and yet we represent about 1/4 of the NFC defense...

And it cracks me up that people don't realise that the pro bowl is an individual honor, not a team one |

What does the ranking of our overall defensive unit as a whole have to do with anything? It's individual honors, has nothing to do with the team. And yes, like someone else mentioned earlier, if Landry hadn't gotten hurt, we would have had four players heading to the Pro Bowl. |
