Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Mike Vick
Tom Brady Phillip Rivers Matt Ryan This has been an amazing season for these guys, especially for Vick. I'm speechless when it comes to his play in '10. When he was in ATL the guy was basically a 1 dimensional QB, now hes a dual-threat beast on the field. Philly has a lot of talent around him but there is no doubt Vick is at the top of his game.. I just think it's amazing how the guy was out of football for 2 years and comes back balling like this. For Brady it's the same old story, the guy is just GREAT.. He is without any doubt a top 5 QB of all time. 31 Tds 4Ints this season and has the best record in the afc. The Pats have one of the worst Defenses in the NFL so that just puts more pressure on Brady to put up points.. The guy always answers the call and is captain clutch. Phillip Rivers deserves the crown just as much as the other 2 IMO... It doesn't matter who lines up at WR, 17 will find you and make you look good. He made Partick Crayton look like a star.. VJax has only played 1 full game but Rivers hasn't missed a beat.. I was one that said SD was making a mistake trading Brees but they weren't. Some "Experts" compare Rivers to Dan Marino and that's saying something.. Matt Ryan has also had a fantastic season leading his Falcons to a 12-2 record and posting 25 Tds to just 9 INTS. They are undefeated at home and look to capture the Number 1 seed in the NFC. Some have compared Ryan to the likes of Peyton Manning and Tom Brady, It's scary how good this guy will be in the future. Ryan has definitely had help from guys like Roddy White and Michael Turner but don't discredit Ryan in any way.. There's a reason why his nickname is "Matty Ice" the guy is just clutch.. I'd say Peyton Manning would be in this race but they just havent been the same Colts, obviously injuries have played a big role but those horrendous INT games against SD, NE, and DAL will hurt 18 in the MVP race this yr IMO. I also like Roddy White, Darren McFadden, MJD, Arian Foster and Andre Johnson as Honorable Mention.. What do you guys/girls think? |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I'm loving what Matt Ryan is doing but it's kinda hard to pick him over Vick or Brady. I'm going with Vick simply because that Eagles team is not going anywhere at all without him. I suspect Tom "cheating-ass--baby-mama-having-pretty-boy" Brady is going to get it though.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I disagree. I think Brady has less talent all around him. Obviously their system/organization is much better, but offensive talent is much better on the Eagles.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Brady has better season numbers but on a game by game basis Vick has clearly been the MVP. If you take out the Redskin game where he left early as well as the other games he missed you would have a QB that would have easily passed the 4,200 yard mark with 32 TD passes which added to the 8 rushing TD's he has right now would have seen him score more then 40 TD's this year. His growth is remarkable especially when you consider the fact that this was a guy that had never thrown for more than 3,000 yards in a 16 game season. This year he will do it while essentially missing 3.75 games.
If this was basketball Vick would have something like 32 ppg while Brady would be around 30. Plus that Giants comeback was pretty special. I mean they were down 31-7 and Vick brought them back. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Sorry Vick, Brady would have to be the MVP on my boat. I love what Vick's done as a football player this season from non-objective perspective, but what Brady's done is even more improbable. 21 touchdowns and no picks over his last 9 games. I think he's at 29-4 td-pick ratio for the season, which is crazy. And this was after they got rid of Randy Moss. He's done more with less, they just keep plugging new guys in and he's still incredible. So I gotta give it to him, I feel like Vick has more weapons at his disposal with McCoy, Jackson, Maclin, Celek, etc.
That and he's got the name factor too. The media has shown a lot more love to Brady than Vick this season, and you're kidding yourself if you think that's not a factor. Brady will win it, although it will be very close, and he's the MVP in my book. This season has solidified his standing as one of the best qb's of all time as well. EDIT: Just checked and Tom Brady checks in with 31 touchdown passes and 4 interceptions. Sorry Vick. That's in addition to 9 straight weeks (could be 10, not sure when it started) of no interceptions, and that's in addition to setting the NFL record with 2 touchdown passes in like 8 straight games). Just a record setting season for Brady and it won't be ignored. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Let's get a poll going
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Tom Brady.....Not many household names on his team, just well organized and well coached. Randy Moss leaves, Deion Branch returns, team doesn't miss a beat. I envy the patriots.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
This year we're going to get co-mvp's. Brady and Vick are going to split it, just as Peyton and McNair did a few years ago.

This. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I gotta agree that Brady is the guy to beat.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I honestly think all 4 guys deserve it this yr but I'm going to say Vick simply because he has made that team so fun to watch and I like his comeback story. Either way u can't go wrong.. I'm surprised you guys haven't said rivers or Ryan?

I think the Rivers hype subsided a tad once he lost to Oakland 2 weeks ago. As for Ryan, I admit he's getting the shaft, the only big difference this year between Ryan, Vick and Brady, is that Vick and Brady are bigger names. Although that will *change* once Ryan continues on his current trajectory. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Brady, probably. Rivers is amazing, but he was much more deserving of the award last year when he was every bit as good as Manning. He's had a bit of a turnover issue that has made a small contribution to the Chargers' losses (not that they need any help).
Vick is a distant third, and while he's a nice candidate, I don't see what he brings to Philadelphia that Jammal Charles doesn't bring to Kansas City or that Arian Foster doesn't bring to Houston. Those would be my top five, anyhow. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
It's a really tough call between Brady and Vick. I think Philly still wins games w/out Vick, although they never would've won last week w/out him. Take Brady off of NE and they're probably 500. And like someone else said, Brady is doing it w/ two rookie TE's and average wr's. I'd give a real slight edge to Brady but if Vick has a couple more games like he did last week he might get it. 240 passing yards with a couple throwing and one running, add in the 130 yards rushing...you just don't see that in the NFL...ever.

Well for one he's the QB getting major rushing yards that breaks the back of a defense. Add in his pin point passing and I think you've got a real legit MVP. |

good point. we may see that again. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Last game between G-men and Eagles made it more clear for me. Everyone keeps talking about the punter and Desean Jackson, but Vick won the Eagles that game. Vick in a close vote with Brady. Rivers and Ryan are both great this year, but are 3 and 4 in my book.

I'd say McFadden over Charles simply because he's carried that team on almost every Sunday.. The guy is becoming a true Workhorse. |

Vick's having the best year of his career, throwing the football, bar none. He's completing 64% this year, and I'll be the first to admit (or second, after Andy Reid), that I didn't think he had it in him. He's brought big play ability that the same offense couldn't have gotten with Kevin Kolb. But the same offense would still have been highly productive with Kolb in there. There's no way the Chiefs or Houston have good/great offenses respectively without Charles or Foster, respectively. Houston would still have a passing game to lean on, at least. Kansas City would have five wins, max. |

He's been fantastic for 70% of the season, where as Charles and Foster have been studs the whole season.
I don't think you can possibly hold any of Thomas Jones' struggles against Jamaal Charles, but I will say this: if Kansas City makes the playoffs, their front office, right down to their head coach, have no one to blame but themselves. After Charles and Foster, then I'd say Peterson, McFadden, and Jones-Drew would be the other players in the running for RB of the year. But Charles and Foster are the MVP candidates. And by MVP candidates, I mean: they'd win the award of they rushed four 500 yards with 700 yards from scrimmage in the last two weeks. Just: still in the race. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I don't think the Eagles win the NFC East with Kevin Kolb at QB. I think they finish 2nd to the Giants.
But they still win 10 games comfortably and make the post-season, possibly making some noise as a lower seed. Vick just makes them the NFC's best team playing at his current level. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
^ man it would be nice to have foster, Charles or DMC on our team! Torain kinda plays like foster but not as talented obviously
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I'm a big Rivers fan, he's really cemented himself as one of the top guns in the league
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Brady will win the MVP by a country mile.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
lol @ GTripp...you are needlessly so full of it. Foster = Vick my ass.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
lol @ GTripp...you are needlessly so full of it. Foster = Vick my ass.
Hey, you were the first one to say Foster = Vick. I said they are equally valuable to their teams and in the MVP race. They don't even play the same position.
Vick's a quarterback. If you can't appreciate my position that other players at other positions are having as good of a year as Vick -- a guy who has played in just 11 of his teams 14 games -- then it should be a QB award only. And Vick is clearly not one of the best two quarterbacks this year...even once you include his league-leading rushing value. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
I think Brady will win.
If you think Jamal Charles is worthy, then you have to think Maurice Jones-Drew is equally worthy. Foster is hampered by the fact that his team will not make the playoffs. Rivers is hampered by the "no-show" status of his team for about 4 games this year. Some folks who WILL NOT win the award and have not been mentioned here but who have had very good years on 2010:
Jay Cutler Josh Freeman Troy Polamalu Peyton Hillis Matt Cassel Darren McFadden
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
If you think Jamal Charles is worthy, then you have to think Maurice Jones-Drew is equally worthy.

Maurice Jones-Drew is a great player having a great year. Saying that he's equally worthy as Jamaal Charles would be the same as saying that Drew Brees is equally worthy to Tom Brady.
If you expand the scope of the argument beyond this season, you might find Brees to be every bit as good as Brady historically. But based on just performance in 2010, they're not close. Neither are Jones-Drew and Charles. Which is not a knock on Jones-Drew or Brees. They're just not in the MVP discussion in 2010. |

Definitely, however I believe the reason people are reluctant to put him in the same class as Brees, Brady, or Peyton, is because he hasn't won in the playoffs yet. Once he does that, he'll attain the superstardom that he deserves. |

Yeah he does need to start racking up some playoff wins. |

That won't happen until Norv gets canned ;) The Patriots have been the best team in football this year, and Tom Brady has been nothing short of spectacular. Hasn't thrown a pick since October 17th (8 straight games; QB Rating in those games: 117.1), and has carried that team throughout the year. As much as I hate to say it, it would be shame if Brady didn't at least share the MVP title this year. While Michael Vick and Matt Ryan have both had excellent years and are vital to their teams' successes, Tom Brady is running away with the MVP title this year. |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
It's Brady for me but I am very, very impressed with what Vick has put on tape this year. I was in Atlanta for his early years and he did some amazing things but was never the complete player he has become.

Vick helped them win the game, but with Brady at the Helm do you really think they would have been down 3 tds with 8 minutes left? I'd say Mike Vick is the most exciting player in the NFL, but I think that's got to be separated from MVP. I'd put them Brady, Vick, Rivers, Jones-Drew, White |
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Tom Brady. He'll probably be the Super Bowl MVP, too.
|
Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Vick may be most valuable to his team since he can carry the Eagles on his own as he did in the Miracle at the Meadowlands last week. However, in a lot of ways, I believe this is the best season of Brady's career, even better than the 50 TDs of '07. They trade Moss, and it's been addition by subtraction. Brady is spreading the ball to everyone, where the TEs are now a huge part of their attack. Both deserve MVP recognition, but I'm guessing that Brady will get it.

Re: Your 2010 NFL MVP is?
Yeah i think this year is Tom Brady by a mile. I really like Vick and hes done amazing things and is exciting as all holly heck to watch and is the likely come back player of the year but i just dont think i could give him the MVP over Brady. If Vick had not gotten injured then maybe.
I wish non-QBs could get it more often. Last year should have been Chris Johnson, imo, and if he didnt get it last year i feel like its near impossible for any other non-QB to get it now-a-days |

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Not surprising. The Ravens defensive players can't stand Tom Brady. Especially Suggs and Lewis. According to them they can't lay a hand on him without Brady crying to the refs for a flag. |
