Arrington?

Anyone have a guess if he'll be back this season?

I miss #56 on Sundays, but atleast I can play with him in Madden 2k5 PC!!!

irish 11-24-2004 08:30 AM

I heard rumors on local DC sports talk that LA's injury be keep him out the rest of the year.

jbcjr14 11-24-2004 09:12 AM

I doubt he makes it back this year. Everytime he gets close ole Bubba Tyer indicates that he still needs to strengthen the thigh muscles. It's a shame, but hopefully the prolonged layoff will make him more of a monster than he already was.

aehs77 11-24-2004 09:31 AM

philly, just a guess

skinsguy 11-24-2004 11:00 AM

I thought he would only be out for basically the month of Novemeber. He has already been out for nearly two months, I would expect him back at least by next week unless the coaching staff feel its better to keep him off the field and rest him up for next season.

How many feel Barrow has been a waste of time? Is he ever going to play this year? If not why do we have this guy??

Riggo44 11-24-2004 12:19 PM

I say he's back for the Giants game.

MTK 11-24-2004 12:21 PM

Last I heard he said he has no set timetable for a return right now.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's done for the year. Especially since we're all but out of it, might as well let him get healthy and shoot for next year.

GoSkins! 11-24-2004 12:39 PM

Why rush him back now? Let him heal fully and then come back. I think
San Fran may have to face him.

offiss 11-24-2004 12:45 PM

I would sit him this year's lost. As for Barrow I liked the signing he's a heck of a LB but injuries do happen, tendenitis is a very frustrating injury who new?

heybigstar 11-24-2004 02:00 PM

I cant believe our best player and maybe our 2nd best linebacker (Marcus Washington is a beast, so is pierce, so i dunno), our best O-linemen and our starting Free Safety have combined to play only 2 games the whole season......

I cant believe how much money we are going to sacrifice to the salary cap the next two years (Brunell and Barrow Especially)

SkinsRock 11-24-2004 02:06 PM

Why sit him? Once he's healthy, let him play. It's killing him just watching from the sidelines or the booth.
I think he'll be back by the Philly game, if not the Giants. (just a guess)

saden1 11-24-2004 02:32 PM

I suppose the way the D has been playing we aren't missing him that much. I'd much rather he sits out the year than come back and get hurt.

firstdown 11-24-2004 04:28 PM
I suppose the way the D has been playing we aren't missing him that much. I'd much rather he sits out the year than come back and get hurt.
I agree the d has played great but with all of the close losses his one bag play here or there could have added a couple of wins.

skinsguy 11-24-2004 04:36 PM

If he's healthy to play then he should get back in there...I mean yeah we're 3-7, but 9-7 isn't too shabby ya know! ;-)

Gmanc711 11-24-2004 05:29 PM

How we finish this year, will carry over into next year. If we can put together 2/3 wins in a row to end the year, it will carry over. Trust me. So we should play him, to get some wins.

Daseal 11-24-2004 05:59 PM

Too early to give up, if you finish a season strong you have a good taste in your mouth at least!

bedlamVR 11-24-2004 07:01 PM

If he can get back I think he would want to get back but one quick question when is the contract hearing or did it happen already I thought it was supposed to be in November?

sportscurmudgeon 11-24-2004 11:13 PM

bedlamVR:

You just asked the question that MIGHT hold the answer to everyone's hopes and aspirations. I asked in another thread if LaVar's rehab from arthroscopic surgery that was supposed to take 2-3 weeks to heal (and there was a bye week to intervene there - would have been faster if his grievance had already been decided.

When I asked the question, it was received about as warmly as a fart in an operating room...

I know everyone will jump in here yelling that LaVar is a beast and a warrior and that all he wants to do is win. I don't read minds so I don't know what he wants to do - except that I do know that he wants another $6M from Danny Boy that he says he was "cheated out of". If he didn't want that, he would have dropped the grievance. I know he is not a beast; he has completely human DNA. He isn't a warrior either; the warriors are in Iraq and Afghanistan at the moment.

His agents - the Postons - might be calling the shots here and it is NOT inconceivable that they would find it "beneficial" to "withhold his services" during the time leading up to the arbitration. "Withholding services" has happened with some of their other clients...

SKINSnCANES 11-25-2004 01:23 AM

man just when I thought I didnt have to hear abou the Postons for a while...

randyredskin 11-26-2004 10:52 AM

Trade Arrington. He is not the player everyone thinks he is. Clear up some cap room. We need it.

MTK 11-26-2004 02:35 PM

Do you understand the insanely big cap hit we'd have to eat if we let him go??

When he was signed he got a signing bonus of $15.5M, that would ALL come due at once if we traded him.

I'd like to believe if he was healthy enough to play, he'd play.

If he was able to play and was cleared by the team doctors, I find it a little hard to believe we wouldn't have heard from the Poston brothers and their intentions to hold him out until this issue is resolved. If they were going to hold him out, why would they have not held him out the entire season instead?

At this point holding him out doesn't give them much leverage, not as much as if they held him out from the start of the season.

VTSkins897 11-27-2004 02:20 AM

i thought he already said the money wasnt his main focus... sure everyone wants a cool mil or 6, but if our boy LA is doin that cos of $, that right there shows our probs are much deeper than they appear. i thought he just was rushed into coming back and still hasnt been able to go... i dont see him rushing back this season. maybe in the last few games but really, whats the point?

Luxorreb 11-27-2004 03:34 AM

Arrington would be playing if Bubba cleared him. No use for him to play hurt when we're 3-7. He's already missed all the games that really coulda meant something. Ease up on the guy. He's a beast and he'll be back before the season is over. People talking about trading him? You crazy! If we win out we could get a wildcard mathematically. Lose 1 more and no mathematical chance! Reguardless next year will be the test for Gibbs and our team. I STILL BELIEVE!!!

offiss 11-27-2004 02:51 PM

I like Lavar but he is defiently overated, he is marketable and a big personality but his production does not remotly merit his contract, I saw an interview the other night on comcast and Lavar was literly crying because of a little boy he visited in the hospital who was just fighting to stay alive and how bad he felt for him he is a truly caring person there is no way Lavar is taking his time rehabing because of his contract NO WAY!

I have a solution for this contract situation Lavar should start some kind of fund like a make a wish type program and DS should contribute the first 6 million everyone win's with that type of solution! :thumb:

Gmanc711 11-27-2004 03:18 PM

I think Offiss is right. I agree that LaVar, while still one of the better defensive players in the league, is a little overated. He is a great player, no doubt, and we are really missing him on our defense. Hoewver, he does care, and I dont think that he would be holding out. Why would he have rushed back? That might have been a mistake but he did it cause he wanted to play. I love LaVar, I really hope he is back soon.

LongTimeSkinsFan 11-27-2004 05:17 PM

I think it's really easy to be suspicious, even paranoid, of a professional athlete's motivations and behavior. These guys (and gals) make more money in one week than a good many of make in a year! We all have to keep in mind that there are honest sincere players out there that see more than the money. Cal Ripken was a fine example of that for many years with the Orioles.

wolfeskins 11-27-2004 08:21 PM

i really don't understand how some of you guys can say that lavar is overrated. to me he is one of the best linebackers in the nfl. just imagine if lavar played weak side linebacker 5 years in a row for the same coach, in the same system, instead he's played weak side and strong side ( two totally differrent positions ) for, not one coach, with one system but five coaches with five differnt systems and he still makes the pro-bowl. how is that overrated?
