God Why Can't The Refs Be Fair
Redskins were doing alright till Gibbs challenged it and the refs knew he steped out everyone did it ruined the game and the D's confidence and Ola Kimbrin sucks
|
I can't recall any season where we have had so many HUGE calls go against us.

There's a theory going around that the league told the refs at the beginning of the season the screw Gibbs every chance they could but that might be a little over the top. The Philly receiver looked like he stepped out at the 47 to me and even the guys in the booth (including Brian Baldhead who is a known 'skins hater). And let's face it, if Ola Kimrin was so great, he wouldn't have been available in the first place. C'mon we signed him from NFL Europe! |
I dont know if it would have been teh difference in the game today, but that call was a huge swing.... and it was freaking b.s.... you gotta be kidding me with that. I mean I understand if they blew the call on the feild, but AFTER THE REVIEW??? That was absurd. I dont even want to get into the refs right now.
|
Man If I saw that ref face to face.............
|
Every NFL officiating crew has it in for the Skins. Everyone.
|
Even in FedEx
|
I'm not one for conspiracy theories but w/all of these horrendous(sp?) calls coming from multiple officiating crews, this is just blowing my mind. I don't know what the fudge the officiating crews are watching either during the game or during reviews but this is absolutely ridiculous to be happening with supposed "professional" refs. and I hate blaming stuff on refs but after that terrible review, the momentum was completely on the side of the bastard iggles :madani:

LTSF as crazy as that might first appear I was saying similar after the dallas game, there is no way that all these call's don't have ulterior motives there is something to that, I loved the part where the ref comes back from the booth and say's the ruling on the field stand's as if they got the call right, everyone saw him step out of bound's before Gibb's challenged it I was shocked they spotted it for a first down I knew he was past contact before he passed the 1st down marker so essentially he would have had to run out on his own soon as I saw the replay I said challenge and when we did I was saying we finally won one, at the very least he should have said it was inconclusive not that it was basically a bad challenge by us, it was like he was deliberatly sticking it to us, Gibb's face after that call basically said it all, I also liked the spot on McNabb's run on 3rd down to our 12 yard line, Taylor nailed him a yard back and the ref's advanced the ball for a first down, knowing they are on the lookout when a QB run's to see where the ball is when he goes into his slide they spotted it forward anyway, and of coarse we didn't challenge the spot. I know it sound's crazy but there has to be somthing to it. |
agree or disagree but threads like these just show how crappy the skins really are... only the crappiest of crap teams discuss this... some calls may be crappy, but the only thing crappier than the refs is the O

I say you were right but it has been bad in other ganes with other teams as well!!! I really don't think it's the Refs against the the Redskins I think it's a case that the refs are just don't do there job that well! The are just piss poor....old guys that can't see! I just think the NFL could do better! |
The refs screw everyone.
But when you're a team that's struggling, the bad calls hurt even more. |
The refs only screwed us on a couple of calls. Bottom line is, is that the players have execute the plays and not commit stupid penalties. Especially in the red zone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
I can't figure out how they didn't reverse that Pinkston call. And the pass interference on Smoot was a bunch of BS also. They were just tangled up and the ball was way overthrown anyway. It seems like the Skins get screwed by officiating every week. But by far the worst agonizing moment of the season, let alone the night was when the Redskins had the ball first and goal on the 10 down 14-6. They proceed to have about 4 penalties(all of which were legitimate) and 2 dropped passes and end up missing a 48 yard field goal! How do you go from first and goal to kicking a 48 yard field goal? What a train wreck. You can't f-ck up any worse that that. I would expect better execution from a high school JV squad!
|
Most of the first half calls went our way. We've had some bad calls and some screw jobs against us this year, but we weren't screwed out of anything yesterday. We had first and goal down by 8 and when we self-destructed, I knew right then and there the ballgame was over.
|
the penalties flat out didn't matter, they matter much more in a close game... even without those bad calls this week, we still lose.
|
How can you say the penalties didn't matter?
The penalties were the reason we got pushed back to the 35 after having a 1st and goal. If we got a TD in that situation it's 14-13 and an entirely different ballgame. |
I agree with Matty
|
Guys we had 12 penalties for 115 yds. 4 of them in the red zone. I think it's safe to say that they did cost us the game.
|
I think Wilbon sums it up for all of us.
Chantilly VA: The officiating was atrocious to say the least, how could they let stand the call where the Eagle player's foot was obviously out of bound when replay was so clear? I guess the NFL sent the third rate crew to unimportant games? Michael Wilbon: Your team, failing to reach 20 points for the 10th time this season, scores six points...your receivers drop passes and your linemen can't stay set (even after a timeout) and your concern this Monday morning, at 3-7, is the officials? The Zebras? Are you drinking the same stuff those people at The Palace of Auburn Hills were consuming. Don't come in her with this referees junk when your team gets its butt whipped. After the Green Bay loss, okay. The call directly affected the outcome of the game. But last night's loss? Please. The Redskins still cannot score and they cannot score because the downfield passing attack isn't what it ought to be. Period. No analysis of anything that deals with the Redskins this season should start with referees. Log off now, go to a dark place, and take a nap. |

Thank you |
The calls really hurt us because we are just not good enough right now to overcome even small errors. As for the out of bounds and the pass interference call, they were both very big plays in the game that went against us and insured we wouldn't be able to come back, given our anemic offense. So sure, Wibon is right, but that doesn't mean the penalties didn't affect the outcome and that they were by ANY MEANS GOOD CALLS.
But until we socre some points and win some games, we have no credibility. We just sound like whiners, even if we're right. So we've got to move on. |
The un-reversed out-of-bounds call could have been a momentum swing. They would have had to punt, then who knows.....instead, the Iggles keep the ball and drove down the field. If you can say that doesn't affect the outcome of the game, I don't know what does. I'm not saying we would of won the game if it had been reversed, but it seems like there have been questionable calls in every game, and more of them have gone against us than in our favor (although some have).
But that's how it is in the NFL...the officials always tend to sway towards the top teams, and away from the "bad" teams. This is a fact. It is hard for Gibbs, and the rest of us, because when he was here before, he usually got most of them in his favor (because the Redskins were a top team!). Call it luck, or "the ball bounces their way", but that's how it is, and until the Skins can find a way to start winning despite the bad breaks and bad calls, it will only continue. |
when i said penalties didn't matter i meant the refs' calls, sorry for any confusion... the 120 yards in false starts did matter, for sure...

Lovely!

I'm not blaming all the Skins' problems on the refs, but I will say the officiating has been a joke in pretty much all our games. And when you go through all the sketchy calls it's hard to say the refs haven't cost us a game or two, not to mention the momentum that comes from winning a close hard-fought game.
Take the Philly game. That reviewed out-of-bounds play and the PI on Smoot were both brutal calls. I believe both were on 3rd downs and resulted in huge 1st downs instead of punts. These are the type of calls that do affect the outcome of a game. I know it has to be somewhat expected when you're playing in Philly against the best team in the league, the calls just ain't gonna go your way for the most part. Fine I can live with that. But where's the reciprocation? We got SCREWED in the Dallas game and the Green Bay game, and both were in our home park. I think all that any of us want from the refs is CONSISTENCY and I've seen none this year. Let me go on record as saying "I DO believe in a conspiracy". I think the powers-that-be around the league have it in for Snyder and love seeing him fail. I am a little surprised that this hatred has spilled over to Gibbs, one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. Let me repeat I am not blaming the refs for the Skins failures this season. But the calls this year seem to be more lopsided than I've ever seen in my life, and it's getting harder to dispel the conspiracy theories when it seems to happen every week. Thanks for letting me rant! |
I agree with you CC. Although in the end, I dont know if it would have made a difference last week... I know for sure that it would have made a difference against Dallas and GB... that was such chicken-bleep.
