Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Here are the highlights of Jim Zorn’s Monday press conference at Redskins Park. DT Albert Haynesworth is injured again, but no word on playing this Sunday. FB Mike Sellers has a thigh bruise with bleeding. Sellers is questionable for Sunday’s game after being released from the hospital. Seems like an injury rather similar to what Jason Taylor had last year, but not as severe.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Zorn is a clueless idiot. He isn't even involved in personell decisions anymore. So him defending Suisham is on par with every other decision he has made.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Fire them both.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Zorn on PK Shaun Suisham’s botched field goal: “Decent snap, excellent hold, it was a poor kick.”
I don't see that as defending Suisham. |
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
I defended Suisham after the Dallas game -- we didn't lose that one because of him. But after yesterday, get his ass outta here.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Even if he DID defend Suisham, he has no choice. I'd much rather have a coach that defends him than hangs him out to dry. The coach shouldn't be deflecting blame to players. Good leaders take responsibility for a loss and give credit to others for a win, it's part of the job.

Agreed, Zorn showed class by not throwing his kicker under the bus. I was mortified earlier this year by Jim Mora Jr. when he placed his teams defeat solely on his kicker. |
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Zorn is a stand up guy, his character has never been under question, his ability as a coach is what should be examined

Yeah, but 23 yards!?!?!?! He should be thrown under the team bus and backed over a few times. |

I don't see that as defending Suisham.

Neither do I
Here is the defense:
"I trust Shaun Suisham…If I had to send him out to do it again, I’d send him out." Zorn says they lost the game as a team and Suisham isn’t cleaning out his locker today. He listed the other mistakes the team made [fumbles, interception, pass coverage] as evidence that the loss cannot simply be blamed on Shaun Suisham.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Yeah, but 23 yards!?!?!?!
He should be thrown under the team bus and backed over a few times.
Agreed. Nothing more than an extra point. Suisham has now blown two consecutive games on make-able, extremely make-able field goals for a NFL kicker, 39 and 23. Only thing is, at 3-9, whats the point in doing anything now? |
Zorn: “I trust Shaun Suisham…If I had to send him out to do it again, I’d send him out.”
That is absolutely defending Suisham and I am not sure how you muster up trust. |

I don't see the defense of Suisham ("poor kick"), especially since Gano is visiting this week, if PFT is to be believed. |

Careful, you're entering PFT territory... I don't have any problem with what Zorn said. If you can't send a kicker out to kick a 23 yarder (even knowing what we know now), you probably shouldn't be a head coach in the league. I'm no Suisham fan (as a Skins kicker), but it seems like you're really reaching here. |
Here is the defense:
What he said was true about all the other stuff that cost us. What should he say I will never trust him again and only send him out on the field when I have no other choice. We have 4 games left and canning him now would do us no good and he has also won several games for us. |

Be careful with that logic. ;) Suisham can make a 23 yarder, he just missed one yesterday. Adam Vinatieri is credited with 9 missed PATs in his career. I assume he wouldn't be good enough for you? |

Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Has SS kicked any last minute game winning FG for us. I do remember him having the only points in games that we wone but I cannot recall any last play of game win.

if your going to call someone an idiot, you might want to have your bases covered. and pennskinsfan, you ask whats the point of doing something now? you send a message, that's what |

Now it's just getting too nitpicky. |
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Sorry that my incorrect spelling of personnel has offended some. And how ironic the the thread is talking about being too nitpicky but yet my spelling is called out.

Well allow me to nitpick and say that the situation that you describe is not ironic. But yes, it would be better if people argued the point instead. |
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
He doesn't say he's blameless.
And anyone would trust a kicker to make short kicks even if he missed one. |
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
It's almost funny to see how Jim Zorn has evolved as a coach. If this was last year he probably would have criticized Shazams execution, or lack there of. Now he defends him. He's still a great QB coach but I don't see him staying in any role after this mess of a season.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
Per Twitter: Kicker change is official. Graham Gano in, Shaun Suisham out.
|
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
So much for defending him eh

It goes back to wondering what structure and communication is really happening at Redskins Park. I imagine this was purely Vinny's call, but nowadays it's impossible to gauge. |
Re: Zorn presser: Defends Suisham
I think it's fairly obvious this move was out of Zorn's hands and came from above.
