Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Portis obviously is having a little bit of problems with vision, which can be normal for a concussion. Not sure what that means in terms of how much time he will be out.
|
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Eagle's Westbrook condition should serve as a harsh reminder to Portis that coming back before you're ready just isn't in your best interest. He should take all the time he needs.

I think he sould take of the rest of the year. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
NFL Network reported this morning that not only have they ruled Portis out for Sundays game at Dallas, they are doubtful he will play the following week at Philly as well.
|
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Man that sucks. Despite his lack of production, concussion are a serious issue. They really F up players in the long run.
I hope everything is alright for him. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Concussions aren't something to mess with. No need to rush him back.
But the word has been the past few days that this could be a very extended time out for Portis. I think I mentioned it in the "I'm So Done With..." thread |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Dude that sucks. He's a tough guy - he must be really hurting to still be out. I agree -- rest him for the rest of the year. The chances of us making the playoffs are slim, and Betts is doing a decent job so far.. Why not get a good draft pick and be back stronger next year...

How could it be worse? |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
how many years do you think Portis has left? 2 or 3?
|
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
1 maybe 2 both as a backup, if he starts somewhere he we be injured and out by week 6, i hope he stays here

PORTIS getting his starting job back and not putting any effort in and calling people out for his lack of passion. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
im starting to think that warpaint= Ladell Betts. all the hate and negativity towards Portis
|
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
I remember during the Spurrier years when Betts used to be on his phone or even dose off during team meetings.
But as an Iowa fan, I've always rooted for him and he seems to have matured. But both he and Portis don't have much left in the tank, in my opinion. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Really, SS? Ladel Betts may be up there in age but he doesn't have the same wear and tear as Portis does. I can see Betts as a 1,000 yard rusher over the next 3 seasons if given the opportunity.

Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Washington Redskins fullback Mike Sellers' take: "We ain't no snitches over here! ... That is not happening."
that is sellars reaction to the league asking players to notify medical staff if they notice a teammate with concussion symtoms. i do not really like goodell, but i don't understand why anyone would be opposed to not getting long term brain damage. i understand players want to play, but do they not want a f-in brain when it's all said and done? i hope portis stays out until he has FULLY recovered and samuels never takes another snap heres the article, sellars comment is midway through Nfl Union Pans Reporting On Teammates -- FanHouse |

How did you figure me out can you read my I.P. ADDRESS?:) I dont hate him I am starting dispise him. Do you remember when D.hall Intercepted that pass a few weeks ago and returns it to the 1 yardline and CP comes in and jumps over the pile for a 1 yard TD, then he is on the side on the side line with an oxygen mask on he is just to much drama nowadays. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Riggo was synonymous was the oxygen mask on the sidelines
|
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
I mean why take the risk? In senseless to rush back when there's a possibility of brain damage.
...I'd like to think Betts has a lot left to offer. I understand he's not football spring chicken, but the dude has very very carries/miles on him. I tend to think it's all up to his discipline. A superior diet, workout regimen will extend to high level of performance. Personally I would like to see Betts have a strong finish to his career in DC. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
according to zorn's press conference portis is out against the eagles next weekend, and possibly further, i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't come back at all

My thoughts exactly, who can still support Portis after the last couple of years? I can't think of many times i wished for someone to get hurt, but i wasn't mad for Portis to miss some games. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Come on guys, don't forget this guy gave us around 1500 yards last season, lets not toss him out as dead weight so easily

i'm very surprised how fast everyone wants to toss him to the side, i would love to see him get healthy and come back in a secondary role in our backfield net year he has been steadily tied with los for the player most people would like to see gone on the warpath poll, that blows my mind |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
^ he actually leads by two votes right now, i just don't get it
|
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
I want to see us move on from Portis but not because I want him gone. Far from it. I think he's given a lot to this team, but for the greater good we should move him now because he's on the downward slope of his career in my opinion. Better to get rid of him a year too early than a year too late

Oh brother. He's one of a handful of backs who still get almost all of their team's carries. There are dozens of much cheaper backs who could have racked up 1500 yards if they got the 342 carries Portis got. Most teams are smart enough to split the carries among 2 or 3 backs. We've seen Betts and Cartwright be productive, but our stupid coaching staff froze them both out, so Portis could hog all the carries. What a waste. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
Looking at Portis' comments lately, he kinda takes some jabs at the team. On his radio show he said something like "that's the redskins, make everything harder."
I wonder how much Portis is really trying to come back. I don't know anything about recovering from a concussion, but I think you have to wonder if he's really committed to coming back. I also think Zorn has used this situation to gain control; he's basically said once you practice you can play. It's an ultimatum of sorts. I could see CP deciding to stay out just to spite Zorn for making him come to practice. |

I would love to see him in b&g til the end of his career, but only if he can be a team player & stop running his mouth, skipping practice, telling coaches to bench Sellers, etc. |

ZERO. He is done. |

seriously? I could see that happening if the doctors advise him to but otherwise I can't see him giving up his life in the limelight just yet. |

Maybe he'll retire and write a tell-all book about the Redskins. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
I dont know if CP is totally done but now that he's had a concussion its easier for him to get another. I think the Skins should find some way to cut their ties with CP and let some other team take their chances with him.

Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
He's still having issues with blurred vision, that can't be good.
He's still having issues with blurred vision, that can't be good.
Sounds really serious long-term, but I don't know anything about concussions. Anyone know if blurred vision is typical this long after the incident? My cynical side wonders if he's really having any problems or he's just in a standoff w/Zorn who's told him once he practices he can play. So, he's just sitting out. |
Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
It's usually a short-term side effect (been through it once from a mild basketball concussion).
We need to let him take the rest of the year off and hopefully come back healthy. It was a rough year for CP. Wonder if he'll come back with one of those ugly Riddel Revolution helmets like Cooley and Peyton Manning wear, they're supposed to help with preventing concussions. |

Re: Portis to see concussion specialist
concussions are no joke......most people think that since they are usually not life threatening that its ok to come back from them.....but your brain never really heals from hitting itself against solid bone
everyone that has had a concussion can attest to how serious they actually are.....a few mild headaches can turn into some serious brain damage down the road as for portis' future with washington.....well.....you know......blah blah blah something important blah blah |
