What If...We Win?
I know we've all pretty much written off the season and are ready to start talking about whether we'll be introducing Cowher or Shanahan in 2010...but what if things start to click?
What if suddenly we start winning games? What then? Do we give Zorn another year? I guess basically my question is what keeps Zorn here in 2010 |
Re: What If...We Win?
Then we'll have nothing to whine err I mean talk about. :)
|
Re: What If...We Win?
2nd round playoffs keeps Zorn here. Anything less, and Danny blows up the ship
|
Re: What If...We Win?
I think it would take one HELL of a turnaround for Zorn to stay. Even though it's not totally ALL his fault we are where we are, things would have to drastically improve.
Our O would have to score bunches of TD's in the coming weeks to keep our D fresh and off the field; ready to come in and kick some heads in. Our ability to manage the clock and score TD's in the redzone would also have to improve. Lots of work ahead for Zorny..... |
Re: What If...We Win?
I say winning season and Zorn stays.
|
Re: What If...We Win?
i think playoffs or a winning record keeps him here.

This may be what keeps him but I dont think 9-7 is going to keep him his job. |
Re: What If...We Win?
I think the only way Zorn keeps his job is if we make the playoffs. I could be wrong though. The question is, what if Zorn keeps his job despite how the season goes?

Kinda depends on how that 9-7 is reached and if it includes playoffs or not. |

You mean what if the season is a complete flop? Zorn is definitely gone. |
Re: What If...We Win?
I'm an optimist and have not given up on the season, we will bounce back and if that's the case then why fire Zorn?
|
Re: What If...We Win?
What if we suck the next couple games, Zorn gets to stick out this season, and the last stretch we go like 5-1. Campbell looks great as does Z man and the offense?
I think it gets tough then. All vibes will be different, as we would be winning in the meat of our schedule. Obviously this would be extremely hard, but we are playing the what if game right? |
Re: What If...We Win?
I think he needs to win at least one playoff game

What if suddenly we start winning games? What then? Do we give Zorn another year? I guess basically my question is what keeps Zorn here in 2010
I'd say it be based on how far we went in the playoffs. Also we could start clicking on defense and none of that would really attributed to Zorn. I'd say he'd say that these past two games are going to resonate at the end of the season even if we have a playoff win. Short of a Super Bowl, Snyder will probably listen to the fans again and fire Zorn at season's end. |
Re: What If...We Win?
Playoffs or bust.

It will be distant memory. Please. |

Re: What If...We Win?
If the offense starts hitting on all cylinders, I say you have to keep Zorn even if he finishes only 8-8. Blache should be on the hot seat even more than Zorn given the defensive additions (Haynesworth and Orakpo) that have yet to yield results.
|
Re: What If...We Win?
I think just making it to the playoffs and he might stick around, a playoff win and he goes nowhere for sure.
|
Re: What If...We Win?
Just got done with the review and will be posting soon.
Unless Zorn fires Blache or Blache drastically alters his scheme (which he won't) we won't start winning. But if Zorn fires Blache, and we show improvement on both sides of the ball and finish the season strong, even if we don't make the playoffs Zorn should stay. |

Re: What If...We Win?
Playoffs. That's it.
|
Re: What If...We Win?
We still have to play Dallas twice, the Eagles Twice and the G-men at home. If we beat Dallas both times, take one from philly and beat the Giants at home this season would be far from over. I always said it's not how you start the year its how you finish. If we finish strong and beat some tough teams zorn might be safe
|
Re: What If...We Win?
I think we need to see a major turnaround on both sides of the ball for both Zorn and Blache to have a chance to stay. If I had my way, Blache would be gone right now. It's remarkable how little his scheme is producing despite the horses he has. Zorn has been hamstrung by Vinny's inability to build an Oline worth a shit. Don't get me wrong, I'm not exactly happy with the Z man, but if he has a solid o-line, our offensive problems wouldn't be as bad as they are now.
I'd say at a bare minimum Zorn needs a trip to the playoffs to stick around, but Blache and Vinny need to have some serious accountability on this one as well. I'd like to dump Blache for Jerry Gray right meow. |

I agree I guess but I can't help thinking if Zorn pulls out a 9-7 season he's gone. It would take a major turn around and maybe a blow out or two to be convincing which I just don't see with this team. I guess a play off run even if it's first round would probably satisfy DS and still enable him to go on national tv and gloat about having been the one who selected Zorn. |

I guess we could get lucky. I would have said beating the Eagles twice and Dallas once and taking the Giants game. Dallas does not look as bad as I thought they would and although the Eagles have not either they lost their starting QB for a few weeks. ;) Then again the team seems to play better with out McNoodle. |
Re: What If...We Win?
If we make it into a Wildcard spot and then lose.. Does Zorn still get fired?
|
If we make it into a Wildcard spot and then lose.. Does Zorn still get fired?
Thats a good question....I leaning toward no, but if we look good at the end of the season and make a push into the playoffs as a Wildcard then most likely yes. |
Re: What If...We Win?
He's got to turn the offense around. Even if we win 9 games but are only averaging 16 or so PPG I think Snyder demands a new playcaller and offensive coordinator which Zorn may resist and result in him getting fired.

If we win I'll drink a glass of wine.

Sorry my drinking days are behind me. Though I guess this is the type of safe bet my Dad use to always make. Like when he would stand under the basketball hoop while I would put up shots. |
Re: What If...We Win?
9-7 and he stays .. BUT, that's a long ass way to go .. we just lost to the Lions, are 3-8 in the last 11 and have NEVER scored over 30 pts since the Z Man .. i mean i'm a big Z and JC supporter but it's really hard to back the Z Man with the calls this year and last .. JC is making plays .. somewhat .. Z Man has to get the O rockin' or it's another laughing stock season .. god it's tough when you have such high hopes ..

How about a box of wine?...lmao |
Re: What If...We Win?
it's more than Zorn first of all ...
blache has ALOT to do with the games we've already lost. point blank. i've been saying all along if things change u know, maybe we dont have to fire the staff... simple enough, if the subtle things change, we WILL start winning... if they dont .... happy trails... evreybody but Bugel should go. |
Re: What If...We Win?
I think Zorn needs to win 10 games and look good doing it to survive. He may even need to make the playoffs but if I were DS I'd have to think long and hard before I fired a coach who won double digit games. I don't think just scraping over the bar at 9-7 will save Zorn because there will be too many highly qualified HC candidates available for DS to settle for a mediocre coach.
That would require beating some very good teams |
Re: What If...We Win?
I think he needs to win at least one playoff game
Well the way we look now I would be happy if we even made the playoffs. If we make the playoffs he will surely stay. |
Re: What If...We Win?
If we make it into a Wildcard spot and then lose.. Does Zorn still get fired?
Why would you fire the coach you ( Synder) hired and he turned the team around after losing to the Lions. If we make the playoffs that would mean we must be playing much better offense and defense. The only team I know who fired their coach for making the playoffs is the Chargers ( Marty Shottenheimer). We are a far cry from making the playoffs as of right now. I guess we can still dream. |
Re: What If...We Win?
Based on DS i think we go 10-6 win a playoff game JZ stays & we sign JC to a nice contract.
