Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback

So we may be 1-5 against rookie QBs in the last five years, but Josh Johnson is actually a second year player! So we should be good. Right? |

Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Damn it does not take long for even first year head coaches to make changes at the qb position in order to produce more offense. Maybe Zorn needs to follow the same. With Collins I think he does reads the field much better than Campbell. I'm tired of receivers streaking wide open and he throws dumb off passes to his backs. I believe Campbell is the real reason our receivers are not having a lot passes and that our o-line looks horrible. Campbell holds the ball to long for an offense that is supposed to be quick striking. Although I believe Campbell is not the only problem he is part of the problem with Zorn's offense.

Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Stafford threw threw 241 yards and 1 TD against our defense, it's his first best game, against us..... If our defense plays like yesterday, expect Johnson to have similar stats..

Biiiiig Difference. This would be more along the lines of putting Colt out there to get his ass kicked for 5 weeks, and then just drafting someone else with the first round pick anyway. |

Johnson doesn't have the arm to make all the throws, but accuracy is his game. I think he projects as a better version of Seneca Wallace. |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
We'll make a star out of him. Just like we do with every other inexperienced, mistake-prone QB we face.

Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Mark it down, if we lose to Josh Johnson at home you can be sure we'll have another coach in week 5.
I was just about to type that we're not going to lose...but I can't be sure of that. I don't think we'll lose. |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Both Leftwich and Johnson are keeping the seat warm until Josh Freeman is ready to rock and roll. At this point for the Bucs, that could be sooner rather than later.

Johnson was selected long before Brooks. Redskins were high on JJ, but weren't going to take him as high as he went |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Hopefully we can pressure him.. I hope Blanche realizes that its not preseason anymore and he can stop running the vanilla defense.

Going to Collins is throwing in the towel for the season. Going to a 38 year old career backup is not going to save the Redskin's season or do anything for the future of the franchise. Rodney Harrison claimed that Jason Campbell is nothing more than a backup quarterback. Well, Collins has proven his is nothing more than a backup quarterback his whole career. If the Redskins are going to make a change, I would rather see them try a younger player. I'm still scratching my head on why Chase Daniel was not retained when Colt was placed on injured reserve. |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
In other Florida QB news...Chad Pennington reportedly done for the year

Well, when you play with Tom Brady, everyone will look like a career backup. |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Well lets see if we give another WINLESS team and QB their first wins of the season and career. If we do lose to Tampa, I may stop watching this season, seriously it would be the worst thing that could happen to a Skins fan..

Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
^And this thread is not about Campbell, it is about Josh Johnson. Let's stick to the topic.
I hope the defense bothers to show up this week. If not, it doesn't really matter who is under center for the other side. |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Wow, Jason Campbell vs Jason Campbell. Who wins? Why older Jason Campbell of course.

Oh boy...lol. I can't wait to JC finds a new home. Not because I dont like him. He is not Peyton Manning but he isn't Andre Ware either. I hope he finds another team that can put him in the positon to win. This guy gets the brunt of everything. Saying that. If he doesn't work out and the next guy comes in and is even worse. What will we say then? IF we promote Colt to the starter and he has fire but keep making mistakes we will be saying off with his head also. If we draft a rookie and he doesn't come out the gate being a Pro Bowler what will see say then? People say Flacco and Ryan. But dig this. Both of them have a solid running game and solid defenses especially Flacco. WE have neither of those at this point. Atlanta was near the top with Turner at running back. Bmores defense. Nuff said. Those things are important. So what will happen if we put a rookie or either a vet in this position? WHo knows. But I dont htink the result will bemuch better. We need a OL. We need to draft a RB or pick one up in Free Agency. Our defense needs to come to play. We need linebackers also. So if you think replacing the QB is the issue. You will in for a big suprise when Campbell leaves. Further more who cares what Harrison says. Dirty playing HGH using ass. He hated on everyone from Campbell to T.O. Read how T.O. gets in his ass: Browser: T.O. fires back on Twitter | Detroit Free Press | Freep.com Now the "owner" of the account is saying its fake. Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
I keep hearing about our D showing up do you guys realize our O has scored only 30 points this year. Thats a whopping 10 points per game and two TD's came late in the game when it was all but over. Take those away and when games where still within reach we have scored 16 points and thats a little over 5 points per game and people are blamming our D.

75% 3rd down conversion for the Lions. 9-11 on 3rd downs at one point. The whole team is to blame but the defense didn't show up yesterday either. |

Our D was pretty brutal yesterday, there's no getting around that. The offense last week did a really good job...except for when it counted |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
I heard an interestring stat a minute ago. Doc's intern stated that during our 6-2 stretch last season the D averaged 18.1 points allowed p/game.
Since then it has allowed 18.2 p/game Draw your own conclusions........... |

Do you think JC is just untouchable or something? Like it or not he's part of the problem and did not have a good game yesterday. As for Johnson didn't he have monster college numbers? He was drafted by Gruden. That's all I know about him. |

Which, well, it might be true but it's not even worth saying. |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Fuck the media....were gonna win this one huge if its DC's own Leftwich, Josh Johnson, Josh Johnsons mama or whoever in the hell the fuckaneers decide to play or fall to hell trying which is more than we did last game
GO SKINS! Sorry Im so tired of hearing the damn news about how the skins won't win this cause they lost to the lions! I bet the Lions come in second to the Vikes in the division |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
Well, I don't think JC much like JZ are going to single handedly lead us to glory. They may be serviceable.....especially JC.
Gibbs best trait possibly was talent useage. He made incredible use of "decent" QB's and formed them into superstars. He did that by reinforcing the systems and people around them. JC's support sucks. the O-line, recievers, running game, etc are not working. Until they do we have no chance at the QB position, or success on Offense for that matter. It can be done but JZ MUST adapt the personnel to THEIR skill sets, and draft/fa accordingly |

Please share!! :D
The D has NOT taken on the personna I expected. I envisioned AH dragging three guys into the backfield while Arakpo threw the QB to the ground like a rag doll. THAT obviously is not happening. BUT, if the D has not changed and we were winning (to a point) last season...what has changed. Well, well maybe they aren't who we wanted yet, but they are good enough? That obviously points to the O totally, and perhaps the D doesn't deserve.........ALL the bad press they have gotten |

Just tired of hearing the same old same old, despite the fact he's played well under the circumstances. If this season so far has shown me anything, it's that our problems run much deeper than QB. Yet some people continue to focus on JC. It's insane. And besides, this thread isn't about JC. Another reason for the fail. |

Did you think our D looked good? At one point the Lions were 9-11 on 3rd down conversions. You ever think that we were wining during that stretch because of the offense? Or better yet we were playing as a team and had each units back. Two things to keep in mind. During most of that stretch JC didn't have any interceptions (he's such a horrible QB -- end sarcasm). Here's a interesting stat with a minumum of 500 pass atempts JC threw the least ints in the whole entire NFL. Secondly Portis was running rampant. If he had kept on his pace he would have had close to 1,800 yrd rushing. If anything last year the offense saved the defense from itself during that stretch. We upgraded on D and they give up 0.1 more yards a game. It works both ways. The offense keeps the D off the field when we produce long drives and the O gets more opportunities when the D stops the opposition on 3rd downs. So lets get back to my point. During the stretch when Portis got nicked up and we didn't produce a running game we lost some games not only because of the running game being slowed down due to injury and inefficent 2nd and 3rd string RBs but also our D couldn't stop squat. Yesterday they were horrendous. The O wasn't awesome but the D had them beat as far as playing like trash. The D definitely is not getting a free pass on this ride buddy! |
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
I don't know what it is with Blache playing rookie or inexperienced quarterbacks like they're Peyton Manning or something but I do know whatever he is doing hasn't worked. Going up against a quarterback like a Matt Stafford in his third pro game or a Josh Johnson who's never started should signal a field day for our defense but it seems like Blache gives them too much respect, like he's afraid of them lighting us up like the Pats did in '07. I really wish he'd "throw the book" at them and make them play lights out against our d in order to win. He's not challenging them at all, as evidenced by Matt Stafford playing like a 5th year Pro Bowl qb against us, leading the friggin Lions down the field like they're the friggin Pats.
|
Re: Josh Johnson Named Tampa Bay Quarterback
right! more of this should fall on the O, than the D

NO I think he just makes excuses ahead of time. You are right, when it is a rookie QB, you disquise the blitz and throw everything at him including the kitchen sink. The O coordinators that play us are playing Chess and Blache is playing Checkers. If he loses to a rookie QB again this week. He needs to go. The Bucs were shut out last week by the Giants. We are not the Giants but if they put up a lot of points on us then he is to blame. |

Seems like an odd move. You're starting (now) your 2008 2nd round pick, spent another 2nd round pick in 2009 (thanks to us) on a QB in Pat White and now have added yet another QB via trade? |
