Agreed. Also, this incident supposedly happened a year ago, and the dumb C didn't bother to call the police or file criminal charges. She wait's a year and files a civil case... She was supposedly raped and doesn't want Roethlisberger to be punished. She just wants to get in his pockets. Good luck with that.

My man there are plenty of guys with superstar status in the same position as Big Ben who have been accused of similiar crimes. Its like they want the ones thay cant have i guess.. not sayin he is guilty or innocent. just that it happens to guys like Ben.

Roethlisberger is one of nine defendants listed in the online court docket report. Further details of the lawsuit were not available Tuesday morning.

Thats gross if he was the ninth guy and I guess it makes sloppy seconds sound much better.

It seemed like she told her co-workers about it and instead of being supportive they mocked her. I don't think it says that they also physically assualted her.

That links says that she was in the psych ward because of a relationship that didn't exist. Some crazy nonsense about her sleeping with some other married dude and the wife created some fake soldier, emailing her all of the time. When the wife posing as the soldier stopped emailing, she had to see the shrink. Sounds like a pretty damn crazy woman to me.

In my opinion, it's pretty reckless to automatically conclude this woman is a lying, greedy [expletive]. Is there a chance she is lyign and just trying to get money and/or revenge? Yes. Is there a chance she is telling the truth? Yes.

I've known at least one woman who was sexually assaulted who went back and forth about contacting police. It was a very emotional experience for her and I understand why she didn't immediately go to police.

Again, I'm not saying she is telling the truth, I am just saying we shouldn't pass judgment based on an article or two we read in the press.

Whereas in criminal court the prosecution must prove guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, in civil trials you usually only have to prove your case by a preponderance of the evidence (i.e., the evidence weighs in your favor). So, a rape victim might very reasonably conclude that she does not want to go through an emotional trial if the prosecution is likely to lose, but she can hit him where it hurts (i.e., the wallet).

Again, I don't know her or her motivations. I just don't think people should automatically assume that a woman who claims to have been raped and sues is some greedy whore. Is that unreasonable?

What if this was just a regular Joe who makes 60k a year? She wouldn't file a civil suit. She would've went to the cops. That's why this is just so shady. A millionare rapes me, I wait a full year and then file a civil suit. I'm not buying it.

I'm not sure I agree. People file civil suits against "average Joes" for battery, sexual assault, etc., you just don't hear about it because they're "average Joes." Moreover, many of those suits are filed well after the incident giving rise to the suit took place. That's why in many jurisdictions, you have several years to bring this kind of suit. To say that anyone who files a civil suit against anyone making any kind of money 6 months or more after the incident took place is a liar, whore, con artist, etc. isn't really reasonable IMO.

The funnier thing about the PFT reporting is that they are spending more time complaining that ESPN hasn't reported than reporting the damn story. If you have a legitimate, strong story you don't want or need any other news organizations backing you up or running the story also. You want to stand alone, again if it's a legitimate story.

Well people lie all the time to get money out of wealthy people. It goes both ways. Could he have done it? Anything is possible. But some things are less possible. If a good looking guy that's very wealthy/famous and has hot girlfriends needs to rape an average looking girl that's a head case then that's something he has to live with. It comes down to her word against his.
