I'm pretty sure this is a non-story

It's still a hundred times better thread than the one comparing Orakpo to LaVar Arrington or the one asking if Orakpo was going to be the next Gholston. |
Re: Favre a free agent
This makes it a better chance that he will return... which would be absolutely ridiculous.

Touche. I guess this is what happens to football in the spring.. |

I thought that it would just make it able for him to retire as a Packer? |
Re: Favre a free agent
Please, please, please, stay retired Brett. You have become the epitome of redundancy.

Re: Favre a free agent
He's retired, this time for good. Nothing to see here.
|
Re: Favre a free agent
How do you think Brett looks in Purple??? Just kidding.......kind of
|
Re: Favre a free agent
I dont know... i think he would unretire to play for the Vikings. Favre + Vikings = a good chance of going to the superbowl. Theyve got a great team - they just need a QB.

He simply isn't injury prone anymore, and those balls that he used to fit into tight windows have been progressively turning into INTs more and more every year since he turned 35, save for one abberation season.
I'd actually argue that the Vikings are better off with one of many young QBs, maybe even JD Booty, if not Jackson, under center. |
Re: Favre a free agent
If Favre were to come back, and I really doubt he will, I would think this year he would make up his mind sooner rather than later. I think he saw last year just how difficult it is to join a team in training camp and try to get up to speed with a new offense and teammates.

Re: Favre a free agent
Who gives a rats ass!!
|
Re: Favre a free agent
With Farve nothing would surprise me but he did say last year he had trouble keeping up hi level of play later in the season. I just think he now knows its time to retire but I'm sure with this move we will here some rumors.
|
Re: Favre a free agent
I want to point out that it's a totally different dynamic to get ready for another year when you are coming off of Favre's 2007 than off of Favre's 2008. He may be fickle, but he's not delusional. He's only going to come back if the Vikings put heavy pressure on him to do so. I doubt he really wants to play right now.

Re: Favre a free agent
PFT is reporting that Favre asked to be released TWICE - and most recently immediately after the Jets drafted Sanchez. I don't think Favre would do that if he didn't want to play. And you have to beleive that if Favre were available, SOMEONE would pick him up.
I certainly wouldnt want Favre under center here as we are not just a "QB away" from being a contender, but he could be appealing to the Vikings. I'm not too familiar with the Vikings QB situation, but they are a team that really only needs a QB. Jackson is doo-doo. Sage may be better, but not by much. An argument could be made that an effective Favre could put them over the top. personally, i think Favres body is done, even if his mind is not. |
Re: Favre a free agent
His agent said he did it because he wants to retire as a Packer...we shall see
|
Re: Favre a free agent
I think he would need a surgery before he could play again.

I can't believe that I was the only one to come up with that idea. |
Re: Favre a free agent
if he was willing to return, i bet snyder and vinnie would be interested.

If I were a Vikes fan, I would be up in arms about their utter lack of ability to acquire a decent QB. It's a need which has stared them in the face for several years now. Why weren't the Vikes at the center of all of that Sanchez controversy? |
Re: Favre a free agent
Two schools of thought,
1- Learning a new system proved to be a bit much for him last year, although it wasn't until the end of the season that he had problems, and they were physical problems. 2- Physical problems. Never has Favre had shoulder problems until last year, there is no real story saying this problem has been solved, why come back now? I love Favre, I am blessed to have watched him play during the prime of his career, and enjoyed watching him every time! I am in no way interested in seeing him play another season, OTHER than maybe with the Viks. That's a BIG maybe too. Just ride off into the sunset Brett, thanks for the memories. |

Doubtful. |

Doubtful, but Zorn would give an instant veto, anyway. |
Re: Favre a free agent
Oh hell no. I don't even know why this is a question.

I agree Zorn would probably veto it, but then again does Danny really get vetoed by anyone?? |

Hey, who pulled the cliche string? |

Not interested but, our front office is capable of anything

Whoops, there goes the cliche string again.
Many Skins fans scream about the OL. Why weren't the Vikes at the center of all of that Sanchez controversy?
Very good point. Again, my beef with fellow Skins fans is that we act like we're going 0-16 every season and have Matt Millen as our FO person. While I am not saying that we should be satisfy with average results, at the same time let's not cry wolf every single time. The Vikes are wasting away a top 10 defense and a young stud of a RB on a mediocre QB. I think they got Sage Rosenfels, which should be an improvement over Jackson, but they could have done something a long time ago. I find this a little bit similar to the Eagles. Granted, they've gone to the NFC Championship a number of times, yet they only weapon they gave him offensively has been Westbrook. Now that they have a number of offensive weapons available, they better hope McNabb doesn't go back to his ways of getting injured easily. |

I agree...didn't some say the same thing about the Jets? |
Re: Favre a free agent
Favre is definitely not coming to D.C.
If he goes anywhere it's going to be a team that has similar terminology to what he ran in GB. |
Re: Favre a free agent
ESPN radio claims to have some Favre..........sightings leaving for and returning the Minneapolis area.........
|
Re: Favre a free agent
Farve would be a good QB coach, we could use one and take that responsiblity away from Zorn so he can concentrate on scoring points with this offense. Zorns main excuse is "he's working with the QB's". Zorn needs to focus on the offense as a whole. I dont think he can.

Dude, you really need to stop with the barrage of posts and think before you write. |

I'm just going off memory, and someone fill me in, but wasn't the argreement with the Jets conditional that he NOT go to Minnesota? If he did the Jets would forfeit either more picks, or higher picks? Does this even apply after his release? |

Best I know, the agreement was that they would not trade him. Now that he was on their roster, and then retired, and now released, apparently it does not. There was probably some provision that he had to play x number of games as a NYJ or something like that. |

Yeah, I think the clause was for the Jets not being able to trade him to Minny. |
Re: Favre a free agent
well I guess that wouldn't apply then.
I would like to see what Brett would do if he was in the place he wanted to go. Might be fun. haha |
