2009 NFL Draft Chat/Discussion

This is bound to be a busy weekend so I'm going to ask that we limit new threads and keep the majority of the draft discussion here in this thread.

If chatting is more your style, feel free check out the new Warpath Chat Room.

This thread will open for business sometime tomorrow before the draft begins.

Thanks

How about moving this to the main forum for better exposure? Sure it's draft chat, but that's definitely locker room talk here shortly.

Mike Mayock just confirmed what I've been saying for a while now. This is by far the weakest draft class in years. God I hope we trade down instead of doing something drastic.

Yeah I think i heard our board is shorter this year than last...I guess that speaks to the quality of players.

...although I tend to think if we're close to getting an impact player and after that it's very weak, trading into a spot to get a legit impact starter could be a smart move. Not Sanches, but a top OT would actually leave me satisfied.

...btw yahoo sports final draft has Crabtree falling to us, and yes we take him. I'll go outside and destroy something if we take a WR w/ our first pick.

Yep, we're not in a very good spot unless someone really falls. Middle of the round is a pretty wack place to be.

I wouldn't mind seeing Sanchez picked or sniped by another team, then us trading down 1-4 spots to get a big OT; there's not much of a reason to go QB this year it doesn't seem, with what's coming out next year. Sure it'd get the guy a year in the system and there might be some trade value for Campbell this year, but I doubt we do much better with a rookie this year, so if we can solidify this year and just put off our Super Bowl dreams (lol) for a year, I think that we'll be much better off.

Who would you guys rather have if you had to make the choice...

Matt Stafford with 41M guaranteed - or - Albert Haynesworth with 40M guaranteed.

Aw shucks, thanks! I'll happily take the $41 mil! However, I'm pretty sure that Big Al is a better pass rusher than I.

It was just announced Cassel signed 6yr 36Mill. That again is just a slap that Det paid 41Mill

I would like to see us move up to get the big OT from Ol'Miss, I can't remember his name right now, he's a class act.

Oher. Yes, I like him too. It is possible that we do not have to move up because he drops to us anyway. If teams like Buffalo, Green Bay, and Denver go defense he might just be left over for us.

i believe there going to be a run on tackles again and he might slip down and with the linebackers and defensive linemen he could slip its possible

And with every pick, the price (theoretically) gets smaller to make that move. Going from #13 to #2 would have been painful.

On NFLN they have those "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Dallas Cowboys" commercials.

I root against the Cowboys even on those commercials. I keep irrationally hoping that people will fall down, etc.

Pioli wants to trade down. Theres no way he wants to pay the type of money that the number 3 player receives.
