Good move for him and us (not signing him) maybe they'll pass on freeman now

Why is it a good move for us not to sign him?

i agree. I didn't think he was a good fit for us but was for a team like the Jets.

He's got to have a better than 50% chance at starting on that team.

Because he doesn't fit the west coast offense and we want Brennan to start ASAP, and leftwich would block him from doing so..that's why

They were interested to bring Leftwich in as #2 back-up, I'm pretty sure that means Zorn (or Vinny & Snyder) doesn't believe that Brennan is ready to be #2 yet..

But once again, experience is best teacher..

Or it means they don't like Collins in this system and leftwich is good and young and may fit in the west coast and they want Brennan to be starter for when they deal Campbell for a second round pick, which they have tried to do (rumored during cutler deal)

Colt isn't starting this year no matter what happens.
Colt isn't starting this year no matter what happens.
Never say never... I expect J. Cambell to elevate his game this year, with all things considered. (o-line play, wr play) IF Cambell does perform poorly, or is unable to lead the Redskins' offense to score and win? I would think that if the team/coach will take a look at Colt Brennan before the season is out in order to evaluate the state of the franchise in regards to the quarterback position..

Dude, I'm sorry to burst your bubble but like Matty said in earlier post - Brennan ain't gonna start.. He might rise within few years, who knows but there is no way he could become starter this year or next year.. Don't get me wrong, Brennan did well in preseasons but that was against 3rd stringers (like Brennan is).. Although I do believe that he does have abilities to be good #2 QB in future but not #1..

Re: Report: Leftwich Signs With Bucs

@ Matty:Well if JC and Todd get hurt....

But on a serious note I would be interested in seeing Colt this preseason. Maybe Zorn can get him in against 2nd stringers because we pretty much know what we will get out of Todd.

Of the highlights I have seen none are really that impressive (preseason not college)

I beg to differ about 2010. Campbell is gone if he doesn't produce or improve significantly. As a starter he is naturally going to ask for a raise come renewal time and I am not sure the Danny is going to respond with his wallet wide open for a guy that just might not be able to get the job done. If he did, do you think he even would have made a serious bid for Cutler? And don't give me that BS about how things are just peachy keen at Redskins Park either. Like photos, actions speak thousands of words!!!!! Snyder wanted Cutler and deemed the cost as being too much. JC must step it up period now or go bye bye, but he needs his support group to get their shit together as well. Will be an interesting blog experience in here during the season that is for sure!!!!!!!!

Well my hope is that Jason Campbell does well this season like you said and he sticks it to the front office.

And for you Colt fans out there, can you please remember that in order for Colt Brennan to start, the team needs to lose so Jason Campbell is benched. So let's be fans of the team and hope that JC and team does well, instead of being fans of one players, ok?

That goes without saying. He's not starting based on a straight up competition.

The only thing that is going to keep Campbell from starting this whole year is injury. Brennen will never see the field.

What I meant was Leftwich would have a chance to start for teams like the Jets and the Bucs. Neither team is far from playoff contention and he is a decent enough quarterback to help them do so given some support.

Re: Report: Leftwich Signs With Bucs

I am kind of on the Colt bandwagon. I say if he is ready let him start (If Campbell fails). I want Campbell to do great and lead us. I am kind of wondering what is the difference between him and a first round draft pick? He was good in college right? Could of been a first or second round pick. He a steal in the 6th. Tom Brady was selected in the 6th round. Even though Tom Brady is great and not saying that Colt is as good as him. Colt should be the 2nd string QB and see some first string late in the season. If Colt fail then he should be the 3rd QB. Has he failed yet? Is he ready yet? Can he do the job?

We have to see what Colt can do next year. As much as I like Collins and appreciate him for our playoff run, he is not the future. I wish I was but I am not sold of Campbell after what I saw in the second half of the season. If I was to bet I would bet that Campbell does not succeed.

No, history has shown that Colt could not have been a 1st or 2nd round pick, only a 6th rounder at best.

I wouldn't call it like this necessary, but I'm glad this didn't happen b/c the Haters of Jason Campbell (not associated with the Cult of Colt) would have come out in force.

Re: Report: Leftwich Signs With Bucs

Thank goodness. Leftwich would have been a terrible fit.

Starter: Campbell
Back-up: Brennan
3rd String: JP Lossman

Collins will be cut to save some $ for a solid veteran FA that becomes available after the draft. Watch.

We had not good man, but we all know DS and he did bring him in for a work out. If there was any thoughts in DS's mind about possibly bringing Leftwich in .....it has been expunged. <---and this is why I'm excited. We did not need to bring in another QB who has not been in a WCO but also having to learn Zorn's system when we already have 3 QB's who have been in the system for 1 yr. Thankfully if there was any question....Tampa saved us from ourselves. :) It's a shame Tampa is my other favorite team. :(

How in the world can you like both Washington and Tampa? There have been several physical playoff appearances between the two teams. It just does't make sense.

Re: Report: Leftwich Signs With Bucs

I grew up in DC so I'm a natural Skins fan. I have family in Tampa and always liked the original uniforms. lol. Then they picked up Gruden whome I knew would be good for the team.....which equaled SB. lol. Even though it was with another coach's picked players. I don't know I just always liked both. It's sad that it has been only just within the last 6-7 yrs that for whatever reason Tampa has become a rival. Prior it was like any other game ....like playing SF 49ers now but was a big rivalry back in the 80's. Playing Tampa was like playing the Lions. Just another team you were expected to beat.

Re: Report: Leftwich Signs With Bucs

Now that the Bucs have Leftwich, I'd keep an eye on the Redskins possibly going after Josh Johnson-who could be traded or simply let go this summer.

He's a West Coast offense guy they showed a lot of interest in last year at this time, and probably would have taken him had he been there in the 6th round instead of Colt (Bucs took him in the 5th I believe).

You're probably wondering, what's the advantage of adding JJ when you've already got Colt? Well who knows really, but I think it's a real possibility.

Of course, all this is a moot point if the Bucs do the sensible thing and just let Griese go.
