re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I'm not so worried about it, he dramatized it, but the situation remains the same.
|
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Actually, aside from the mocking fake transcript to start the article, I'd say he's pretty on.
|
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Well everyone always Dogs the skins, so it's not a suprise.. As many of you guys know I wanted to trade Campbell for Cutler, honestly I think Jay Cutler is better especially in our west coast offense. But since Cutler is not a Skin, then we need to get ready for the future and Campbell as we all know has to have a Good season somewhere in the 20TD category and of course we need to win more than 8 games. Or else JC will be released after the season. This guy is just trying to start crap because even if we traded for Cutler the media would have dogged us! THEY ALL HATE SNYDER
|
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Jason and Zorn need to put together a winning season and they won't have to worry about all this crap. I think they can do it but the rest of the team (o-line and receivers) need to do their part too.

I would too. I was very unhappy w/the chasing of Cutler & it did publicly show what Danny (& maybe vinny) think of J. Campbell. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I'm sorry I could not read the article with his idea of how a meeting must have taken place. Several good things came from the whole Cutler issue.
#1. Cutler is not here.;) #2. We have a QB with some class who doesn't wine. #3. Maybe this will finally light a fire under JC back side. #4. Maybe JC will show significant improvement this yr. #5. If he does #4 then he can screw the Skins over for a big contract. See all parties will be happy. If anything the pressure is on JC as I see it. If he blows this yr or plays half ass then the team won't resign him. It will prove some pundits right when they say he's not a #1 QB. and lastly he won't get his payday. I hope JC is mad. I hope JC has something to prove. I hope JC lights it up and maybe then we will finally go farther in to the post season. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I also think this will be a make-or-break season for both Campbell and Zorn. I think that's fair as far as Campbell is concerned. I'm not so sure that it's fair in the case of Zorn but, with several big-name coaches looking for a HC job next season, Snyder won't be able to help himself.
Now, here's where Snyder may have gotten himself into trouble: if Campbell has a big year he'll generate some interest around the league and he may just sign elsewhere because of his resentment over the Cutler incident. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
There has to be a better thread title
|
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
This season will have nothing to do with the Cutler trade. Campbell is motivated because he's up for a new contract, so he needs to prove (to the Redskins or to the open market) that he's worth it. Zorn feels pressure because he coaches for Dan Snyder, and if he doesn't show progress after two years then he'll get the heave-ho in all likelihood, especially with guys like Cowher and Shanahan on the market in 2010.
Zorn and Campbell were already motivated and feeling the pressure going into this campaign, and they're united by a common goal, they both need to succeed for their own well-being. Cutler has nothing to do with it. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I’m surprised that more media folks have not jumped on the opportunity to make fun of or; bash the redskins for throwing JC under the bus. Over the years Danny has made so many mistakes, but none were so cold hearted and unwarranted as the attack on the starting QB. And not knowing any of the details behind this deal even makes this nightmare more frustrating for the players and the fans. My hats off to JC, I wish him luck and hope finds success and then stuffs this Cutler trade up Danny’s Ass.

This should be it for JC, either put up or get out. This is only JZ's 2nd year and he shouldnt be on the hot seat so soon. He should get 4 years to see if he has it. There will always be big-name coaches looking for jobs so their should be no rush to fire & hire (but that's how I see it I doubt DS sees it that way). |

Attack? That's spinning some drama on the situation. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Douche? I have heard most of all that here from people on this site are they douches also? Not sure why people get so bent over when they read in the press the same stuff they read here almost everyday from the fans. To say the media loves to bash the Skins I was no hearing that when we where winning last year and the media just prints what the skins give them.

re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I say there's a 51% chance that Campbell is not here at the start of this season
|
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Campbell had a 2-part interview on Comcast Sportsnite the last 2 days. He is definitely saying the "right" things, but his refusal to answer certain types of questions involving the FO, and his long-term status, seemed to make it clear that he was really hurt by it.

Nefarious forces are afoot in the universe......Irish. I find myself agreeing with you more and more............ |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
The fact that Denver turned down our offer because they didn't like Campbell and Orton was the deal breaker says a little something. I think skins fans may over value Campbell a bit. He's a serviceable starter.

Besides if there was a chance they were leaning that way they would have cut Jason or traded him a long time ago. IMO i think we should wait and see what Jason does this year then if he bombs then put colt in there. I am sure there is a 80% chance lol that will happen. |

I like how people keep mentioning this, yet they forget that McDaniels turned down Cutler for Matt Cassell and (eventually) Kyle Orton. |

yeah, I caught a little of that & I saw it the same way. When asked about the possibility of a long term deal, he didn't answer directly, he just said that he wanted to go out & have a big season. Maybe his agent has advised him not to say too much about being w/the Skins long-term, sending a message that he's shopping his client. I recall that the day the news broke Campbell said he wanted to be in DC. So, like you said, maybe he's hurt by it & is looking forward to getting out, and/or his agent is just telling him not to speak about anything beyond this year. One thing that weighs in the Skins favor, Denver chose Orton over him. That's also part of how they were once again saved by another team. Last year it was Cincy, this year the Bears. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I didn't see one sentence in the article that stretched the truth or was even that negative towards Snyder. I think it is spot on.
I am more worried about someone who reads an unbiased account of a potentially disasterous trade and criticizes the author. This team has not won a single division under Snyder's impatient watch and he proved this offseason that he learned nothing while Gibbs was here. Thank God that we didn't make that trade. It is the best thing that happened to us in the offseason. |

Good point. But man won't that be something come negotiating time (if it gets to that) "What do you mean you want to get paid X amount? No one wanted you last year. Did you forget that?" "Yeah well you traded like a bajillion first rounders to get me, didn't you" |

We all complain so what's the big deal if people from the outside looking in do it? I mean it sucks that it's us but it's not like we've never been undeserving of it. Until we can prove for awhile that we're not running a circus here it's what we'll get. |

I know he owned the team in 1999 but he had zero input on that roster so I give him credit for none of their sucess. What did he do in 2000 when he made his mark on the roster? He ruined it. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Are you sure about Denver turning down Cassel? That's what started this whole mess was McDaniels going after Cassel.

I think he was saying that Denver turned down Cutler for Cassell, not that they turned Cassell down. |
re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
Maybe Jason Campbell gets his "revenge" by having a "lights out" season this year and then signing somewhere else next year because he feels he was dissed by Danny Boy?
There are so many hypothetical twist and turns on that road in the future that speculation now is unbounded. Unless somehow a QB named "Manning" or "Brees" or "Brady" or "Roethilisberger" pisses off his coach and owner and becomes available, Jason Campbell will have 2009 to demonstrate his worth to the Skins and the rest of the coaches in the NFL - - because he's a free agent at the end of the 2009 season. BTW, John Czarnecki is not a douche. He is really pretty well wired into "NFL Doings". And he's not such a bad guy either... |

Re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I'm Very dissapointed we didnt get Cutler.
Campbell is a dissapointment year after year. Shows very little progress. Always in bottom 3rd of league in QB rating. Always a split second too late. He's not a team leader. He's 17-21 as a starter - Skins went to the playoffs one year because T.Collins finished the year 4-0, after idiot Campbell got us to 5-7. Statistics dont lie! And yet people say keep giving him another year....amazing. Let see, the Detroit lions at 0-16 scored more offensive TD's and more points the Redskins last year. look it up! Redskins finished 4th in total Defense, Portis had a solid year, and we still finished only 8-8. There is only one underlying factor. Our deadbeat QB. I dont want to hear anymore excuses...the O-line, different coaches....BS. he's had enough time! The broncos thought Orton brought more to the table then Campbell. (and they are probably right!) the redskins tried to trade deadass Campbell for a 2nd Round draft pick. Not one team was interested. Doesnt that tell you something? I am a diehard Skins fan, but Campbell is not the answer-he cannot lead us to where we want to go. I really thought we had a chance at a franschise QB in Cutler. At least there is only one more year of this nonsense, and then we get rid of this loser. I made the arguement last year at this time, and everyone on this site said 2008 was going to be a breakout year for JC......yeah right. Hopefully we can trade him still. i cant stand him |
Re: FOX - Botched trade will put pressure on Redskins
I'm very relieved we did not get Cutler. Selfishness (and crybaby-ness) does not make a good leader.
