NFL Schedule Coming 4/14
 

Well.... I might be the only one that gets really excited for the schedule and plan what games I'm attending, but on ESPN's viewer guide, there is a NFL schedule special next Tuesday. So its safe to say the NFL Schedule for 2009 is coming out than for those who like that kind of thing ;)

Its sad to say this does really excite me. Can't wait. Thats for the update.

That date isn't set in stone...so don't get upset if you find out on the 13th...or the 15th...or the 16th.

So that's the day that every NFL fan looks at the schedule and says 'I can see us going 10-6 or 11-5' before their 7-9 reality sets in!

that makes sense from a marketing standpoint, but I've got a feeling that this team, unlike 08, starts slower & takes some time to gell. Especially if we have a rookie rt. Just a feeling.

The only one...it's one of my favorite days of the off season for the same reason. It's definitely a bigger day for season ticket holders because of the planning aspect. At least for me I know that since I have had tickets the schedule announcement day means a lot more to me.

They should release the schedule game by game, and analyze each game announced, that would be hilarious. Stretch it out into a 4 hour show.

The sad thing is most of us would TIVO it, fast forward to the Redskins schedule and take 15 minutes to watch it, then hop on Warpath to discuss and dissect.

I was actually thinking the schedule release should be like 17 weeks long... where every tuesday or something they release a week of the schedule, and than all the teams fans would debate that team.... and than go to week 2, week 3, ect.

That's kind of what it feels like when we're preparing the schedule. It's such a tedious process, so much back and forth

So, do you think the Lions get any "sympathy" in scheduling? Does their 0-16 season factor in at all?
It would be brutal for their fans to start at Chicago, at Pitt, Home for Baltimore and Minnesota.
Does anyone know how much of the schedule is done by people, and how much by computer formulas?

Well, I really don't work on the NFL schedule to the extent I did the past two years. And even then I was really more in a "consulting" role, and only for my employer (not the other networks). Plus, the reality is that none of us know until Tuesday morning at the earliest what the final verdict will be. It really does come down to the wire what ends up being the final schedule.

So I have some sense of a few dates, but nothing concrete.

They'll have a last place schedule if that's what you're asking. But beyond that I doubt they'll give them any sympathy in making up the schedule.

No, they play all the teams I listed like I listed. They play the AFC North, so they have to face Pitt and Baltimore. My question was more the "sympathy factor". Since Smoot said it is done by people, not computers, I tend to think the 0-16 record would factor in at some level.

They don't get sympathy for being 0-16. Feelings aren't part of the equation.
