Dockery coming back to Redskins
Nice move to bring Dock back for 5 year/26 mil deal. Starting on the O-line now!

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I think that Portis will love the left side of the line
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
NICE! Hell yeah. The offensive equivalent of what happened with Smoot. Welcome back Dock.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Honestly I am more excited about this than Haynesworth. Glad that Dock is back in DC!
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
MARVELOUS value!
$8.2 million in guaranteed money, this amounts to a $2.0 million cap hit. I have us with $4.4 million in space at this point. Still enough to sign another impact lineman! Woot! Welcome back 66! |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is really good for the locker room, the guys always loved Dock. He and Samuels will love being back together.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Yes welcome back. This is a solid move the FO is doing a great job IMO!
The left side will open up some nice running lanes for CP. And this is about half the contract price he signed in Bill country. This seems to be a win, win situation for the SKINS! I'm sure BIG CHRIS is loving this move! Bet Kendall is not liking it as much.... |

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Two down one to go. Though I don't know if thats the wine talking but I think they should try and go after Willis now and shore up that Right Tackle spot.

Welcome back 66!
If that's the case can we still afford Willis or Khalif Barnes to plug in at RT? Talk about addressing your needs on both lines. We've just gotten younger on defense (Springs 35-Hall 26=9 years younger, Evans 30-Haynesworth 28=2 years younger) and offense (Kendall 36-Dockery 28=8 years younger) and upgraded both positions. If they add Orapko in the draft that would be an "A" for the offseason. Nice day today by the FO. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Apparently, Dock passed up more money in Detroit to come back here:
"The Redskins called and tried to bring him back. The Lions offered him a richer contract to stay, but Dockery decided he couldn't pass up the chance to return to the Redskins." This guy has a soft spot in my heart. I agree with whoever said it, in many ways this is better than getting Haynesworth. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is a move that I can get excited for. We don't break the bank and pick up someone who can start and solidify the line for us.
He's not a worldbeater but we can work with him. "Welcome back Docker" |

At least here he has a chance to WIN A SUPERBOWL!!!!! And the odds are getting better by the minute! :pimp: |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Let's compare the 2 contracts:
March 2007 (Bills): "The total contract equals the deal that "transition" free agent Steve Hutchinson signed with the Minnesota Vikings last year, a league record for a guard. The contract includes $18.5 million in guarantees and will pay Dockery $23 million in the first three seasons." February 2009 (Skins): "Washington’s wheeling and dealing did not end early Friday; it went into the night. The Redskins reached agreement with former Bills guard Derrick Dockery on a five-year, $26 million deal that includes $8.2 in guaranteed money. Combined with the $18.5 million in guaranteed money Dockery made from his two years with the Bills, he will have made nearly $27 million guaranteed in three years." Seems like a good deal for the Skins on a relative basis. But Dock's the big winner. Looks like him and his agent have found the way to milk the system: Big money upfront, play two mediocre seasons so you are not worth your contract, get released, sign with another team for more big money upfront.... |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Oh No... I'm starting to get optimistic about season :woot:, the possibilities of Ray Willis (RT) and Andre Smith which will seriously improve our o-line.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Our goal line offense just improved dramatically.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is great! I think the FO has done a wonderful job this offseason. 4 picks in the draft does'nt look so bad right now. Welcome home Doc!
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is a great move by the FO!! We got Dock for a decent price and we got younger at LG.
'09 Starters LT Samuels LG Dockery C Rabach RG Thomas RT FA/ 13th pick Very respectible |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Great signing. Now if we can get a top tackle in the draft to (hopefully) beat out Jansen and maybe a center in the 3rd, our offense should be much improved.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is huge. I remember his last season with us... and he did open up monster holes for the backs. Loving this offseason so far. Upgrading both lines and getting younger. Gives us some flexibility with the draft pick, too. If Orakpo is gone, I'd like to get a LB'er.

Yeah I keep forgetting that we will more than likely lose Kendall to free agency so we need at least 2 OL to start building some ground in our protection. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
... if Lifetime made movies for men big Dock's story a la the Redskins would get a two-hour special LOL.
Seriously, this is fanfriggentastic. Welcome home DD... |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
The little guaranteed money and the chemistry he quickly made with Chris Samuels makes this a great deal for the Redskins. Now for the other side of the Line.
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I am so proud of the Redskins so far. Addressing two of our biggest needs on the DL and OL is damn good. Danny Boy and Vinny Boy are starting to suprise me so far. They are doing a good job at getting team needs.
Like someone else said, our chances of winning the Super Bowl are looking better and better each minute. If we add Ray Willis via FA or Andre Smith in the draft, this off season will be a good one. Maybe a Darren Sproles type running back later in the draft but thats a different story :). |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
You know how Smoot's reception was when he came back to the Skins. It will be the same for Dock because none of the Skins fans wanted to let him go.

Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
The aircraft carrier is back! This is great news. Remember that one particular Xmas morning where the presents just kept coming and after a while you just expected more? This is starting to feel like that.

Gotta love being champions of the offseason. |
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
This is way better then other offseasons though... we are getting guys in their prime or near it. Let hope this translates to Chapions in the Season too...
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
Started off the day feeling nervous about the large contracts for Haynesworth & Hall though they are good players but now I am beginning to feel 'irie' with Dockery signing that we are heading in the right way in replacing are old vets. I hope we don't sign Chris Canty... too much good news for me to handle in a day ;)
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
I'm happy we got Dock, and I do hope we can get Willis, he can add depth to the tackle position. I wonder what direction the team will take now that we have added free agents to both lines...do we go for a stud offensive lineman or a linebacker at #13?
|
Re: Dockery coming back to Redskins
What about taking a look a jeff saturday? I think it would be an upgrade over raybach?
