Initial injury reports / Post game Zorn

Moss - Hamstring arrrrrrrrrrrrrg

Portis - Undisclosed.

Anyone see the post game interview? -- Zorn is starting to build a reputation to freak out on the occasional pesky media person... I think its a good thing just to see the desire and passion he handles ALL Aspects his job with.

We all know what happens when Santana's hamstring acts up- it happens every damn year and it lingers. Shit. Fortunately we're only one game away from the bye.

I heard Portis rolled his ankle. Redskins Insider said he had it re-taped after the injury (which had my heart in my throat when he on the ground writhing in pain). He came back in the game, so hopefully it's nothing too serious. I would expect him to sit out most of practice this week again.

yea he's quoted saying he just needs a little rest and he'll be ready for monday night....

monday night is gonna be a real big game for us.

and ya know ya always hate the bye week cuz we're not playing but im kglad its here our guys Deserve the rest and damn well NEED it!

I think both Portis and Moss will be fine.

If we can survive the Steelers game without any major injuries. I think we will be ok for the 2nd half. We've put ourselves in great position. I just hope we can get Samuels and Springs back 100% after the bye.

Against the Pittsburgh D, Stephon Heyer at left tackle is a recipe to get Jason Campbell knocked out.

Well, he's supposed to get an MRI tomorrow. So hopefully that comes back ok.

Heyer does worry me a little bit after his performance today. He got manhandled a couple of times.

^^ yeah today it looked like the steelers D were causing quite a bit of havoc and playing hard high emotion. it will def be a change from the teams weve played lately who didnt play horrible D but didnt try to make anything happen either.

go skins!!

I really hope his MRI comes back okay. I've never heard of inflamed cartilage before. But it can't be too serious because he practiced this week and wasn't even on the injury report before warmups today.

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

I'm worried about missing Springs against Pittsburgh than about missing Samuels. To my knowledge Springs has already said he's out till after the bye, which is bad news w/ Big Ben always looking to hurl the deep shots. We need the very best coverage possible come Monday night and what is probably our best corner still won't be on the field. Heyer will look better next week. I think he was shaky from not starting in a while but from all accounts this kid really wants to prove himself and IMO his struggles are partially a concentration issue - his head should be in the game 100%.

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

I am not so worried about missing Springs as much as Samuels. Big Ben and that offense is not all that great. It is thir defense that can knock you (Campbell) out!

I love how some injuries just come out of left field. Did anyone hear of Samuals knee bothering him prior to this game?

skins can win without springs, but have a hard time without samuels.

If anyone watched the NYG-Pitt game yesterday, the recipe for beating Pittsburgh is pretty clear- get to the QB! Big Ben was pressured by blitzes all night and threw 4 INTs.

But we couldn't sack a QB even if he had lead in his shoes, so this could be a problem. Their O-line isn't that great, but neither is Detroit's and we barely laid a hand on Orlovsky. Willie Parker will be back next Monday too...

What exactly is the problem with Samuels? It came as a surprise to me when he was inactive for yesterday's game, and Sonny and Sam didn't go into detail about it (I have to listen to the games). What did he hurt, and when did it happen?

Inflamed cartilege in his knee. Never heard that one before.

FRPLG 10-27-2008 01:09 PM

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

Well I don't think cartilege can inflame. It doesn't get enough blood supply. My guess is a lack/mislaign/tear of cartilege is causing swelling around said cartilege.

That's what has me worried - we never really get consistent pressure on the QB so we need great coverage to shore up the deep threats especially. I expect Ben to take a ton of deep shots if we're w/o Springs (as it sounds). Willie Parker doesn't worry me because our run defense is strong as ever and Horton should be back next week as well.

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

According to Yahoosports, Zorn said in the presser that Moss has "a little swelling" in his hammy. Awesome. Get in those ice baths on that massage table, Santana. Relentless treatment. We need you against Pitt. You can rest during the bye.

SFREDSKIN 10-27-2008 04:02 PM

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

I would have Samuels have the surgery ASAP and sacrifice missing a couple of games but having the peace of mind in getting him back towards the end of the season and hopefully into the playoffs. In the meantime, I would activate Reinhart and see what he's made off in case Heyer continues to struggle.

We could definitely use the bye. When was the last time we had a bye during the middle of the season? Is it just me or do we typically get out bye in week 3?

Just off of the Washington Times today.

Chris Samuels is at Redskin Park and he just said in the parking lot the MRI on his knee showed good results and only some cartilage irritation.

On sitting out early in the week: "I'll talk to the trainers because I'm starting to feel a lot better so I want to practice this week."

On playing Monday night: "I'm thinking definitely."

Not for nothing, but this is a huge game if we win. I believe Springs and everyone else can suck it up especially with the extra day and then have the bye week to rest.

Springs has unfortunately been ruled out already.

Shit shit shit shit. The dreaded "game-time decision." Plus Laron Landry and Rogers are both questionable as well. Laron has a hamstring injury apparently? When did this happen? The effing team is hurt.

Landry and Rogers were both listed last week too. No biggie.

Moss's status hasn't changed, he's been "day to day" since Sunday.

Portis had a full practice, I didn't see any mention of Samuels. I think he could be a huge key to the game

Agreed, without samuels-->weak run-->more pass-->chances of turnovers-->long night

Samuels and Horton should both play.

Re: Initial injury reports / Post game

Redskins Nation on Comcast made mention of the fact that Portis was not ony leading the league in rushing, but he has been playing with 5 injuries that noone knows about. This is a true testament to this team and it's moxie. The Steelers might have the #1 defense, but they don't have the balls that we do. 53fan was right. There is something special about this season- we can best anyone.
