Brady has more procedures for infection; Pats upset with situation

It would really be depressing and horrible for the sport if Brady doesn't get back out there eventually. Like him or not, he's one of the best to play the game and to see his already Hall of Fame career cut short is just a loss for the entire sport.

I think he will, just will take longer than expected.

Re: Brady having some major issues with his knee

dang, I'd hate to see one of the greatest QB's ever - if not the greatest QB ever have to leave the game due to injury when he had plenty left in the tank.

Don't really like him personally, but he was a great decision maker.

i wonder if it could be to a mysterious staph infection?
i wonder who operated on him?

Damn that's a bad situation. If you are a high enough caliber of a surgeon to recontsruct the knee of the best QB in world, one would think you could figure out a way to fend off infection.

I wish Brady the best. It's an awesome thing to watch him play QB.

Re: Brady having some major issues with his knee

Thought I heard dumbass cowterd (collin that is) mention this morning that a worst possible scenario would be amputation. He's gotta be joking, although I rarely pay close attention to what he has to say. If not, that would truly be horrible for Tom Brady and the game of football in general.

MTK 10-23-2008 03:42 PM

Re: Brady having some major issues with his knee

When it comes to infection, yeah worst case could be amputation. Not sure if that's a serious concern at this point for Brady, but you can't rule it out when talking about ultimate worst case scenario.

Sounds like whoever wrote the story is overeacting a bit. Now all the media outlets are taking it a running with it. He just had the surgery and having an infection when your knee is sliced open is a common thing. Look at what happened to Rocky and Carlos? Same type of injury and both play a much more physically demanding position than Brady does. Both are playing and playing at a high level when many thought that neither would be ready for 08. And both were injured at a later point last year than Brady was this year. Come Sept. 09 Brady will be under center.

Best wishes Tom. All he needs is some Tussin.

nfl live said that depending on how the infection went,he could also have to have his knee rebuilt again using a cadaver's acl.brady's own personal doctor is who did the surgery in california.the pats are pissed cause he did'nt let the team pick the doctor.

He's had 3 additional procedures to clean out infection, that's not normal. Neither is the possiblity of having to do the entire reconstruction over again.

Brady better hope that Cassell doesn't continue to play well. That may tempt Belichick to dump Brady and show everyone else that he's a genius by having a winning team with Cassell.

if you are the patriots, and have that much invested in Brady, don't you insist on him following whatever medical advice you prescribe?

This reminds me of the movie "Awake" with Hayden Christensen.

is that the one where he wakes up in surgery and can't let anybody know he's awake?

the guy on the nfl network said brady DID have a staph infection.
i wonder since two high profile players, and a kid who had his foot amputated because of one in NC will wake somebody up on this?

Well, its more like he's awake and no one notices/or cares.

Hospitals are very dangerous places and patients getting infections are very common. I hope this works good for him.

I heard that the NFL Teams can ask a player to see the teams recomended doctors for their injuries but they cannot force a player to use them. I'm sure their are laws against forcing a person to use a certain doctor which the NFL cannot get arround.

Re: Brady having some major issues with his knee

Brady has the right to choose his own doctor. And I'm not sure his choice of Dr. had anything to with this situation. Infections are a tricky thing.

I don't see New England as a factor this year with Cassell at QB.

I'm wondering why Brady didn't have Andrews do the surgery...

Also, Cassell sucks big time. He's got no arm, and he holds onto the ball too long. The only reason he was able to pass on Denver is because Champ and Bly got injured.

How about....no!

Next draft I see Bellichicken drafting another QB to begin grooming Brady's eventual replacement and to not have to rely on Cassell as the back up. He is not very good.

Re: Brady having some major issues with his knee

I just saw on espn that Dr. Andrews was a consultant with Brady's doctors and he does'nt expect the timeline for Bradys recovery to change. He said Brady is responding well to medicine given for post opt infection.

Re: Brady having some major issues with his knee

i think the player's right to choose his own doctor/treatment,is in the collective bargaining agreement.i may be wrong, but i think i heard it mentioned right after brady had his surgery.
