Live Streaming SKins Games
Does anyone know where I can find a live video stream of the skins games on the net? I have a friend who just moved to TX, and all they show is f-ing Cowboys games.

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
He'll need a SlingBox (google it) and a friend/relative that lives in the DC area. I use one and it works great.

Download Sopcast, or TVAnts(follow directions on site) and look under "Live Sports" on Sundays. They show all games, in pretty bad quality if you dont mind. Also if you dont find a link under that tab, go to their forums, usually people will post a link there. |

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
Nowadays they tend to give links for TVants. Also, like I said, visiting their forums tends to be helpful because there is usually someone there complaining about games and the mods or others post a link...

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
Justin.tv works well though too...

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
myp2p sometimes works well, sometimes doesn't.
slingbox works awesome all the time, and you can get free software to turn it into a full DVR as well (they just put a TV guide thing in the official software too - click on a show and it goes to it, and the new slingbox 2.0 software also lets you pause and go back up to 60 minutes in whatever you're watching... sweet free upgrades ;) ) |

Actually, Stacks would need the SlingBox and provide his IP addrss to his friend in TX. Right? |
Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
Actually the Skins have been on TV here in Austin 4 of their 7 games. But I have the NFL Ticket so it doesn't matter to me.
Slingbox works well, I know of some folks that have that set up when they travel abroad. |

No - the SlingBox attaches directly to the "host" cable box (someone in the DC area in this case). Then you can access or remotely-control that cable box from anywhere you have an internet connection (home, hotel, airport, etc...) or from your phone if it is compatible. |

Only thing was it was crap when played full screen and even in normal window was a bit fuzzy. I've considered the NFL's own package, as it's available to international customers, but it uses it's own player and for how much they charge, it's too late in the season to get full value out of it. Sky Sports in the UK have been talking about some form of NFL Ticket option here in the UK, but no word on when. However, they now carry one afternoon and one evening game, the Sunday and Monday night games and they have alternates on their interactive channels for the afternoon and evening games, so recording the games means I could potentially watch 6 games a week (and that's not including Thursday games). I just can't guarantee being able to watch the Skins unless they are on the night games. I just wish NFL.com would allow you to buy a game for download on a game by game basis, live or recorded. They must be able to make a profit on it like that without affecting their TV revenues/contracts? |
Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
Well you can always listen to games live on espn980.com as someone previously linked

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
And I dont know about all the complains of P2P, have any of you guys tried going to their forum during the game?
Just go to the NFL thread, and there is always a decent link to every game every week. And if any of the links are bad, people start complaining, and someone immediately posts a feed. I have had absolutely no problem watching Skins games from the library on my comp, or watching other big games not on TV. |

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
No problem, they usually have direct streams or TVAnts(which I dont like using, for no real reason) so it works out.

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
Also I'm sure you get plenty EPL, but in the US it's almost nothing, so I watch big soccer matches on p2p as well.

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games

Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
I live in Germany, and get the Armed Forces Network (AFN). They show 7-8 games a week, but when they don't broadcast the Redskins game, I buy the game from Yahoo. It's expensive - $19.99 per game, but that's a personal choice you'd have to make depending on if it's worth it to you or not.

NFL Game Pass - Powered by Yahoo! Sports
It's expensive to some degree, but up until this season (when they lost their licensing or whatever) there was a company based out of Italy called Pontel, that was selling any NFL game on DVD (basically the show transferred to DVD with little more than a title menu added). They charged byt the disk or c. £135 for a season, including playoffs if your team made it. It would have worked out to about $250. It was the only way I could get a whole season of Skins games and now I can't even do that. I got to ask, why can't the NFL offer up their archive if people want to buy the games on DVD? I'd love to get out SB seasons on DVD and replay them once in a while. |

Exactly... from what I saw, Stacks lives in Arlington, his buddy would be the remote user in TX. |
Re: Live Streaming SKins Games
htownsskinfan and Hooskins, Thank you for the tip about justin.tv! The picture for the Detroit game was a bit blurry but a blurry game is better than no game. I appreciate the help!

I'm a UVa grad. Having said, "C'mon ya 'Hoos!" so often, I even say it for the Skins. Enjoy C'ville!

I'm amazed that the NFL doesn't sell DVDs of each team's games. The NFL already has the film and it's not like it is expensive to burn films to DVDs. I'd love to watch, for example, the 1970s Skins games during the offseason and brush up on some of my history. |

Skins win, 'Hoos win a big one, VT loses...a near perfect weekend. Perfect if Dallas had lost. Gotta love the progress of Verica. |
