What time should I leave class Thursday:
 

I have calculus on Thursday evenings from 7:20 - 10:00. The teacher is a former college basketball coach and while he said he isn't a huge football fan -- he understands about Thursday. I will be leaving early, but I must show up to turn in a quiz. What time do you guys think actual kick off will be? Should I run in, drop off the quiz, and leave? Or should I stay for 30 mins or so?

Dude, slide the quiz under the door before class starts and get your tail to the stadium!

Edit: The above statement was just to be funny. Ask him give you the quiz over the phone sometime before Thursday. The worst he can say is no. If it were me, there is no way that I would be going to class that night. Yes, I have done it before. Bears @ Skins last season. I skipped a writing class... Yes, I understand that it shows.

See if you can make prior arrangements to turn in the quiz, especially since he does understand the reasoning behind it. Being a calculus class, you can definitely bone up on whatever is covered in class via your text or the cute girl you sit next to...

The big question is does your professor get to class a little early, or is he always there right at 7:20 (guess it's hard to tell since it's still pretty early in the semester). In any event, get there, turn in the quiz and high tail it to the nearest TV.

While TiVo in this case could be pertinent, this is the opening game of the 2008 NFL Season, and your team is playing the defending champs. TiVo will help you learn what happened while turning in your quiz.

I should be fine. I've taken the first two weeks of Calc 6 times. I know what's covered....

I'm going to drop it in his box at the Math department and be home in time. SC Skins Fan -- in most cases, I'd fire up the DVR. But this is opening day brother. Some things are more important than math I'll never, ever, ever use again.

#2 Drinking beer, grilling, and getting pumped beats the hell out of class
#3 Calculus sucks
#4 It's week one and the Redskins are playing - would you even be able to listen to your prof?

Your kidding right? Unless missing this class will cause you to fail the course and flunk out of school and start a chain reaction of events that will destroy your life then under no circumstances are you to attend this class.

Hey at least you get to leave class. My new job has me working almost every day from 4 pm to midnight and there's no way in hell I can get Thursday off, my boss already gave the entire crew a warning about not coming to work Thursday because he knows there are like 4 guys on the crew that are 'Skins fans.

Lucky for me I have DVR, I'm just gonna have to wait to watch the game, I'm prob. gonna record pre and post game too and watch the entire thing Friday morning.

Is it bad that I keep watching TS Hanna's track and only worrying if it's going to be close enough to S. Florida Thursday night to interfere with my satellite reception and the local news over-coverage of weather related events here? I really don't care if it hits on Friday, just as long as my watching of opening day isn't affected.

Skip class man. Do you know the only people who use calculus? Calculus teachers.

Dude! I never made it as far as Calculus. My brain never could absorb the two semesters of Alg. I (Alg. I, Repeat). So I switched majors and Graduated not Magna-cum, not Suma-Cum, but Thank-u-Lordie!

Maybe you could ask the Prof. if you could sit in an earlier-in-the-day class to make up if attendance is the thing!

I'm in the same dillemma because I have track practice and sometimes it runs all the way from 4:30 to 8pm. I'm the one who doesn't like to miss [I]ANY[/I] part of a Redskins game. I hope my coach doesn't work us too much.

Just to clarify. I haven't failed Calc 6 times. I've been in class the two weeks -- and the first two times I didnt take the placement test. The other 4 I failed the placement test (typically by 1-2 points). So I finally studied, passed the placement test, and will pass Calc this semester. But yeah, this quiz is going in his mailbox tomorrow.
