I've got the Sharks over the Rangers in the Stanley Cup

Everyone at work is picking Lakers vs. Celtics so I went against the grain (waaaay against the grain) and picked the Wizards over the Jazz. Zards is a total homer pick I know. I think the Jazz have really flown under the radar all year. The problem is I don't really like them and I'd like to see T Mac get past the first round.

Sixers are schooling the Pistons
Celtics over Lakers in 6.

Montreal over San Jose in 7.
damn man, those were my exact picks. Good job.
So I'll change them slightly.

Celts over Lakers in 5. (homer pick or not, the C's are a force)
Montreal over San Jose in 6. (it kills me to say that since the arch enemy of the Bruins is the Canadiens.)

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

Lolol I'll change my picks then, I'll go with Wizards over Hornets in 6. If the Wizards make it past Cleveland then I think they'll have a decent shot to win the series against Boston because Washington has been able to play pretty good ball against them this season.

Living in Philly, nobody will shut up about them. I remind them, Game 2, and how they will still smoke us. What do you think?

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

Well I didn't see the game tonight but it looks like it pretty even series so far. The Pistons didn't take their game 2 win and build on it so it looks to be an even series. If Philly wins the next one the odds are they will win the series.

I haven't been watching, I just got home not too long ago. I see they are down by 14 though. Not too good. Oh well...that's why it's a 7 game series.

Celtics are going to need some road games if they expect to win the championship

mooby 05-13-2008 01:42 AM

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

Yeah they are in a serious road funk. They won't be competing for a championship if they can't win a couple on the road.

On a side note, looking back at my predictions in this thread I realize just how bad I was. Montreal/San Jose are both eliminated from the playoffs and the Celts can't win one on the road at all.

jsarno 05-13-2008 09:15 PM

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

I don't understand why they are so bad on the road! They had the best record on the road in the NBA if I recall right, and they are 0-5 thus far on the road. That's not a championship caliber team.
Although, on the flip side, they are 6-0 at home, and since they have home court advantage, they can continue this pace and still win it all. :D

I must say, it is kinda cool that it will be the Lakers vs Celtics in the finals again. I mean this is what the NBA was all about back in the 80s.

Forget my NHL prediction cuz that was horrible, but I still have a good chance with Celtics over the Lakers in 6 since they both made the Finals.

Can Detroit finish off the pens tonight in Pittsburgh......I think it ends tonight. Detroit skates around the pens home crowd hoisting the Stanley Cup.

Ok so I should have picked Pittsburg instead of Montreal.

But I'm still sticking with my Lakers in 6!!!!:headbange

You would have been even better just picking the STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS, THE RED WINGS! No bottom feeders or luck has run out teams needed, all other are just another 2nd place finisher.......LOL

What a comeback by the Celtics yesterday. I thought for sure the tide was turning last night. But, much to my dismay, this may just be the Celtics year. It's tough living in a place with so many top teams (Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics) when you don't care for any of them.

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

HA!

I turned the game off in the 3rd when Boston was down by 18 points.

Glad they came back and beat Kobe. Apparently Bryant walked off the court with 3 seconds left as LA was taking the ball up the court, then after the game in the press conference talked about doing 20 shots before sleeping and said the team "wet the bed".

Yeah, he's a piece of trash (again). He will NEVER be M.J. on or off the court.

I thought that game was over last night, the Lakers were up by 20 something when I turned it off and said oh well the series is 2-2. One more win and Colin Cowturds' know it all prediction that the Celtics couldn't win it all with their big 3 is down the shitter. :)

I grew up in RI and I love all Boston teams expect the Pats. I was actualy born in DC and my dad got hooked on the Skins, so we have love them since. To think the last time the C's one I was in High School!

To watch the Red Sox and Celtics win it all (hopefully) all in the same sporting year, is just plain crazy. When your teams are this deep in the palyoffs each game is a heart attack to me!

If the Skins make it to the SB this year, my heart may just exploded!

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

Boston over the past few years is definitely getting spoiled with their sports teams. I'm jealous, is it too much to ask for just one more SB win for the Skins? C'mon sports gods hook us up already!

mooby 06-13-2008 08:48 PM

Re: NBA/NHL Prediction Thread

Seriously Matty, this is ridiculous. The C's are back on top this year, the Pats have won enough Superbowls in the last 7 years, the Red Sox have climbed back to the top, the only thing holding them back is the Bruins. It's time we get some love from the Sports Gods lol.

I'm right there with you man. Although, I grew up in Mass. Love all the Boston teams except the Patriots. It's kind of funny to tell people the story of why I like the Skins...my great uncle was a Boston Redskins fan and he got me into football. I love telling people that the Skins were the ORIGINAL Boston football team! haha.
I was just up in boston for a little while, tried to get tickets to game 1 but couldn't unless I wanted to get a 2nd mortgage...but I did see the Red Sox beat Seattle last Saturday at Fenway. It's great to see the Sox dominate!
The Celtics are really a bonus for me...it's great to see them on top again...we just need the Bruins to get a little tougher.
If the Skins win the Super Bowl, it would be a perfect year (after the Sox winning it last year and Celts likely going to win it tonight, or in a couple days!)

There is nothing wrong with that. They haven't had an actual championship on their ground since 86. The Sox won on the road, and same with the cheatriots. I wonder how many cop cars will be turned over after they win tonight?
