I'm tired of waiting.
That's why I am annoucing that I am putting my name out there. I'll work for peanuts too. Literally. (The Planters Dry Roasted / lightly salted kind)
It'll save Mr. Snyder some money and I'll learn a lot. I like learnding. learnding is fun. Send me a private message on here Mr. Snyder. I'd post my phone number, but I don't trust half of these people. But I do trust you, Mr. Snyder. So come on. It'll be fun. If we lose the first game you can fire me. But seriously now, hire Fassel. |
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
If after all this waiting they hire Fassel it seems like they will have already created a lame duck coaching situation. Why would they do that?
Still hoping for a surprise like Meeks or maybe Zorn getting his second promotion in two weeks. |
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I have given DS so many chances, but this is really bush league..
|
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I was just thinking the same thing. If he really wanted to hire fassel he would of hired him by now. Who else is left?
|
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I have to agree with Skins fan 44. Snyder keeps dragging this damn process out. He knew from the start he wanted Fassel. He wanted Fassel 4 years ago before Joe Gibbs popped up again. I can only think of a handful of people Snyder may want to interview, such as Russ Grimm or possibly Marty Schottenheimer (I know I'll catch flak for that comment). If you listen to the John Riggins Show, Kevin Sheehan has said it best - this town will revolt if Jim Fassel is named the head coach. But, like most places, if Fassel is hired and produces winning football, it will all be forgotten. Just my thoughts.
|
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
Perhaps he didn't anticipate the reaction to Fassel so he decided to drag this out until people started complaining about the length of the process and would be happy with any hire. Brilliant PR move?

Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I dunno. Maybe Snyder should wait till after the draft to hire a head coach. Then, if nothing really materializes he could just "stand in" as HC for a few games to see how things play out. You just never know how much talent you have as an HC till the opportunity comes.
|
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
Yeah, I agree with others sentiment that he must have someone else in mind. Fassel must be so frustrated. What if he pulls out of consideration b/c he is tired of getting dicked around with? What if NOONE will take the job? I know that wont happen but it would be funny/devastating. I think at that point we'd have to go knock on Danny's door and ask for our team back.
|
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I think we are all on same page - we all are pretty tired of this chaos.. One thing I am concern about is free agent.. The longer we drag this out, the more it would be difficult to look for players in free agency.. (I am not saying that we would go on shopping spree in free agency - I'm talking about players for depth..)

Well then the town is stupid. Might as well start calling us Washington Eagles fans then |

Reports said Mooch wasn't a candidate anymore, Snyder said they weren't true. Who knows. |

If you want to settle for mediocrity hire Fassel, Billick, Marty, Dennis Green, Jim Mora sr. We might as well get used to it, because we'll look like the Eagles. I hope I'm wrong and eat my words, but I got a feeling I'll be saying I told you so. I'll judge Fassel on his first 5 games, if he screws up there will be no mercy from me or other fans who oppose the move. |

Why 5 games? Because a veteran coach should instantly win no matter where he coaches? Because 5 games is how long you need to tell if a coach is good or not? |

Yeah 5 games is silly, look at how the Chargers came back from their bad start. However there is a strong belief, and I don't agree with it, that somehow Fassel would only get 1 year and then be gone. That somehow DS would back up a truckload of money and get Cowher. If you believe this then Fassel has to win right away. |
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I can't see Fassel pulling out. What are his options? Staying with doing radio for Westwood One? Please. Snyder has him by the balls right now and he knows it.

But when you do, make sure you bring in a general manager of your liking. |
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
The Redskins legacy is as one of the prime teams in NFL history. Now we are the verge of becoming in the DC Met area what the Jets are in NY; the JV. That's what happens when you hire as your head coach the guy that the team who used to be the area JV (Ravens) fired as their coordinator. How can the Skins be the prime when their leader is the Ravens reject? If you have friends who are Jets fans in NY, ask them how they feel now that the Giants are even more the kings. That's how Skins fans will feel with Fassel in charge!

Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I really don't care anymore. Only a fool would take this job.

If Mr. Snyder has any idea [and I'm sure he does] about what's being said on fan forums, talk radio, and any other media types, he's at this point actually afraid to name anyone coach. He realizes if he dosen't name someone he's reasonably sure the fans will support, he could be experiencing the Fassel backlash all over again. I'm patient enough to wait out the process and get behind whoever is coach so we can get back to the business of football. I think the players feel the same way, they just want a name. |

Because we are a draft away from the SB. If Gibbs would have stayed one more year he would have taken us next year. If this guy can't have a better season than this year's team then to me he's mediocre (whoever he is) granted DS and VC with the change of offense philosophy will make it more difficult for Campbell. This team will have injured players back, especially on the OL where it really hurt. We should be a better team and losing is no excuse. We'll see. |

i'm not so sure i can agree with that. lets not forget, it was todd collins that lead this team to the playoffs. he likely will not be back. plus, like you said, the skins will be running a new offense now. it's uncertain how long it will take for the players to adjust. |

So because you think we would have gone to the Super Bowl next year if Gibbs had stayed, you've decided 5 games is the benchmark. Is this only if Fassel is hired, what if it's Meeks? |

Is this only if Fassel is hired, what if it's Meeks?
In this case it applies to Fassel, Marty, Green, Mora sr., Billick, Mooch. Why, you ask? Because they are the ones with HC experience and should know what it takes to motivate a talented team. I would give Meeks and Grimm a pass since they haven't had HC experience, but feel they wouldn't let us down. |
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
I know this wouldn't happen, but what if none of these candidates accepted the conditions which have been laid out for this head coaching job? Who is left (other than Russ Grimm) who would interview for this job?
|

Chances are it's got to be someone who isn't currently coaching at any level in the NFL: Fassel (good), Cowher (good), Billick (not so good), Carroll (indifferent), Green (amusing), Marty (unlikely) |
Re: I'm tired of waiting.
Maybe Snyder was confused by Goodell's edict about announcements and thought he had to wait until after the Super Bowl AND the Pro Bowl so as not to draw attention to the festivities.

Right. With the exception of Cowher and Carroll, I believe the rest of those guys would jump at the chance to be a head coach no matter the situation. I know that most head coaches want to surround themselves by staff that they appoint (and who's to say this hasn't already happened with Fassel,) but I just think it's an easy situation to be in. The staff is already there in place. No need to "round up" other coaches. I guess in the techie sense, it's "plug and play". Let's hope it works out! |

Hey ... here's a solution to you guys bashing the hire...
Bring in Mariucci as OC... he can show Zorn the ropes... they both know the West Coast Offense... from Walsh/Holmgren... |
