Enough with Fred Smoot already. How about Shawn Springs?!
 

What else can you say about Springs right now?! The guy is playing great and his INTs lately have been very instrumental in this 4 game run.

After the 4 TD disaster against T.O. I admit I thought Springs was on his last legs. He's definitely proven me wrong.

It seems we've had a lot of discussion about moving Springs or cutting him the last few seasons and I never understand it. He is our best CB by far. He is honetsly a top tier CB when healthy and I dont see why we'd want him anywhere but playing CB for us. I know he has gotten nicked up lately but still he is too good to just give up on.

i agree. why people want to take our best cover corner, and basically replace him with Smoot(?) is beyond me. Smoot was getting toasted all game against the cowboys. springs has been very good the last 4 games. then you could probably say that about most of the team

He has a lot to do with the streak. 4 games;4 INTS. He had 0 before that. His upgrade in play has upgraded the team's.

Right now he is playing as good as any CB in the league. Perfect. BEEAAAASSSTTT

Don't forget Smoot -- but give both corners their credit. I honestly think they're the main reason we're really doing well on defense. Springs has his guy locked down always, then they throw at Smoot who has been just doing great.

On Mike and Mike this morning (starring Eric and Sean), Ditka was asked about the Redskins. He said (paraphrasing), "I like everybody on that team except one guy. Fred Smoot couldn't cover me."

Springs is ballin right now. He's jumping routes and making receivers pay for it when they catch the ball.

Springs has been playing great!!! Just think how he is going to be up this week going back to Seattle to meet his old team!!!! I love to see him play so well....I bet the hawks stay away from him and go at Smoot!

He's not going anywhere but here next season. I don't know if you saw him embrace Gibbs after the game, it was pretty emotional between those 2. I think the issues before the season are a thing of the past. Sean realizes that Dan Snyder and Joe are stand up guys and are not out to screw him.

Ditka also had a big problem with Taylor earlier in the year and said something along the lines of him not being able to cover too.

Sometimes I really wonder about Ditka.

shawn has stepped it up bigtime and going to seattle i expect more of the same..

Well after the Dalls loss GW said he made the mistake of not putting Springs on TO for the entire game. When we see D in two weeks I'm thinking that GW will have Springs on TO all day so we will get to see TO have one of his fits when he does not have any catches.

Shawn played great, but remember we have to get past a tough Seattle team first, there is no guarentee there.

I have been singing this guy's praises for a couple of weeks now. Down this stretch he's been as solid as any corner playing the game.... Dude definitely deserves props.

To have a good defense on the nfl level, there needs to be at least two good starting corners on a team. I say that the redskins have a great defense. The defense wasn't as good with Rogers starting.

And obviously Springs is playing his ass off. Smoot plays pretty solid, but rarely makes big plays nowadays. Rogers is a below average to average corner and I can't remember him making a big play outside of garbage time. I hate to say it, but I have to call it like I see. I was hoping for Rogers like I was hoping for Archuletta, Lloyd, and a few others. The redskins need to look to upgrade at corner soon - depending on how Springs feels. Springs plays with the best of them when he is healthy though.

springs has been a shut down corner for us, but only when he's healthy (which has been the story of his career). smoot can play well hurt, springs usually can't.

I think shawn springs has proven these last couple of weeks he's still the man. I know a lot of u guys like Smooth personally cuz he's loud and goofy. But Springs is playing on a Champ Baily-esque level right now. I dont think there is a CB in the league that is playing better right now.

Imagine our line up without SPrings...

Springs is a great CB and has played great for most of his skins career. Last year he played hurt and it hurt the defense tremendously.

He's really played well and its the best i've seen him so far. SS seems like a good guy and its good to see.

Smoot isn't the best corner in the world. He's a decent corner but he does other things well and seems to fit into GW defense.
