Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
Barry Bonds is one home-run away from tying Hank Aaron.
When I was a kid, and Hank broke the record, this would have been huge. I turned on ESPN and there was a baseball game on. Then it happened. So he needs one to tie and the game is on ESPN. If you care. |
Re: If anyone cares...
i starting to think people dont care about baseball in general. and bonds is one big a**hole, so why should we?

because its history wheather you like it or not. |
Re: If anyone cares...
i didn't say i wouldn't watch. but just because Bonds is approaching a milestone, now everyone should like him?

I guess, but this is maybe the most famous record in sports. If you had told me when I was a kid that Bonds would one day knock 756 and no one would care, well, I probably would have thrown my 89 Upper Deck complete set out. |
Re: If anyone cares...
A-Rod is at #499 and he just turned 32 on Friday. He's the youngest EVER to 500 by over a year. We'll be watching him pass and then demolish Bonds' "record" in a few years. Like the Yankees or not, he's the real deal and is clean.
That day will be a huge celebration everywhere outside of Boston, mainly because Bonds will no longer be able to be called the Home Run King. I hope Bonds has a career-ending injury one HR short of Aaron, steroid-induced of course. I never wish injury on anyone, but Bonds does not deserve to have his name ahead of Aaron's in the record books. It's bad enough he passed Babe Ruth. |
Re: If anyone cares...
there goes 755. he just hit it

yeah I'm pissed it happened against my favorite bball team and really a bit disgusted so many were actually cheering after it happened. |
Re: If anyone cares...
Kinda cool, im sitting here with 4 of my friends and we just watched 755 go out. Bonds is some shit but we were pretty excited to see it. He jacked that ball to the opposite field. We are hoping he goes and hits 756 and then pulls a john kruck and walks off the field into retirement after 756. Then ARod will smash the record in about 6 or 7 seasons.

well i think it was mixed but that is what you get everywhere. i mean some people dont think that he did it. but think people are just caught up in the moment of being at a game and it is exciting to see history, he hasnt broken the record yet aaron - 755 bonds- 755* * steriods |
Re: If anyone cares...
I was cheering.
|
Re: If anyone cares...
Good for Bonds! Can't believe I missed it though. I've been watching every at bat of his for like three weeks now. I knew the one night I didn't watch he'd hit 755.

Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
Well, now I'm rooting for the day that someone will break Bonds' record. I don't like him and he does not deserve it.

Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
I'm going to open up a public poll on this: Does or Doesn't Bonds Deserve the Record.
I don't really care why you think or don't think he deserves it. I just want to know who falls on what side of the fence |
Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
He deserves it. I honestly think that the media makes him out to be a bad person because he doesn't give them the time of day. Congrats BBonds I hope you hit 100 more. Im glad he did it and one maybe someone will get it. Its truley exciting to see a milestone in sports like this one. When he fails the steroids test call me bitches.
Bonds played for the Prince William Pirates in like 85 or 86 and one night the power went out in the stadium due to a rainstorm. My dad, brother, and I were there, and I was like Im going to go down and try to get an auto from Bonds because we all knew he was headed to the majors (they pulled his cards out of the local set). I walked down to the fence and the first peron I talked to was Bobby Bonilla, I said he is Barry in there I want his autograph. Bonilla got Bonds and he came over and met me and signed a baseball for me. He was really a nice guy and we talked for a few granted I was 11 or so. I have always thought Bonds was a good guy and just becuase he doesn't give the media the time of day he's a bad guy? Ever think that just because Art Monk never talked to the media is the sole reason he's not in the HOF? Now before you all try to rip me for comparing the two completely different situations think about how the media can skew your opinions to think one way or the other. I believe that the media has turned fans against Bonds. Either way Im a fan of the guy and its really awesome to be old enough and alive to see a milestone record be broken. |
Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
What I've heard about Barry, and it's kind of weird, is that he gets along best with the younger players. I've heard a lot of people say that Bonds is a great teammate to guys who are just coming up from the minors or vets who ride the pine. It's the fellow stars that he tends not to get along with.

Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
There are a number of reasons that the players of today are better overall athletes than the players of yesteryear. Year-round training, nutritional supplements, LASIK surgery, and improved medicine have made it possible for these numbers to fall. While Bonds almost certainly imrpoved his numbers using illegal drugs, so too did many players in the past - amphetamines were common, and even supplied in clubhouses as recently as 25 years ago.
I long for the day when a player can hold this record without the taint of a scandal. I also don't know if or when that will happen. But it willbe Barry's record until then. |
Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
Caught it at the gym this am....big deal.
BONDS=ROIDS=CHEATER! |
Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
I want him to break it. He hit those balls with a wooden bat just like all the other guys. It's simple, he derserves it.

Ready for some football. Can't stand MLB
|
Re: Bonds Hits 755th HR; A-Rod 500th; Zimmerman 37th
he deserves it cause as much as it seems he used steriods, no one can prove he did.
good for barry. |

You know what's funny? The guy who gave up the homerun, Clay Hensley, is actually someone who did test positive for steroids (or a steroid like substance) and was suspended for several games by baseball. Granted it was in the minor leagues, but still...

No way man. You didn't hear, Barry is the only person in the history of Major League Baseball to do steroids and, despite never testing positive for anything, deserves a lifetime ban and an asterisk next to everything he's ever done. Oh, and he's the devil because of that. |

Oh yeah Barry Bonds is responsible, and soley responsible, for everything that's wrong with baseball :) And why stop with baseball? My oven door won't close properly...I'm blaming Bonds. |

Just for some variety to the Barry is the Devil mentality

What's funnier? Clay Hensley was demoted to AAA after the game, not because he gave up #755, just because he stinks. :D |
