Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Just saw on news 4 that this might be a possibility. My favorite driver driving for my favorite team.

Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Sorry Angry, you can't possibly imagine how little I care about this.

It was worth a try. |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
I was talking to some Joe Gibbs Racing people today ('cause that's how I roll) and it's possible but the Budweiser sponsorship could be a sticking point
Chances are he's either starting his own or more likely joining Richard Childress Racing |

Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Doesn't Bud have the option to go with Jr.? Why couldn't/wouldn't they go to Gibbs?
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
No alkyhall for JGR. Got it.
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
I made this prediction 6 months ago that if DEI and Jr. could not work a deal Big Joe would have him on a plane heading to JGR.
This deal is VERY possible. I'm a Denny Hamlin fan and a team of Denny Hamlin, Dale Jr. and Tony Stewrat would be an awesome team. So predict he will go with his father old team Richard Childers Ent who owns the #3 car. Will we see Jr. in a black #3 car? I don't think just yet. He wants to make more of a name for himself. Goor thread! peace |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
yeeee-haw NECKCAR
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
So anyone else notice Dale Jr. and his step mom seem kinda cozy?

lol I said the same thing until last year when I decided to watch. You can't watch it until you pick a driver. It would be like watch NFL without picking the Redskins to follow. So in doing my homework I saw Coach Joe Gibbs had a team so I started there. He had 2 rookies and one had FedEx as his sponsor and that's my Redskin's stadium, he was also a Virginia boy abd a Redskins fan. Bingo bango boingo that was my driver Denny Hamlin #11 Came in 3rd overall last year his rookie season and was named Rookie of the Year. He's currently in 4th and is racing great! Check him out. Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Well I think Bud wants to stick with Jr. and Jr. probably has the jones for Bud sticking with him and I doubt very seriously that JGR is gonna simply abandon their rule that they don't want alcohol sponsors so JGR is out almost assuredly. Given that Hendrick is full and RCR is like a home away from home I would be surprised if he didn't go there. Of course this is what everyone thinks. But everyone also thought DEI wouldn't be dumb enough to let him go and we see how that played out. Maybe he ends up back at DEI after they realize he means busniess about leaving. They are fooling themselves if they think that letting Jr. go won't put this team away. She hasn't run the team to win and the only thing that keeps it afloat is Jr. and his popularity. When that's gone they better start winning or they'll be out of business in 5 years. Sr. has got to be rolling in his grave.
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Junior will either race the #8 on his own team (JR Motorsports) or will race the #3 for RCR. It's a longshot for Junior to race for JGR, but nothing's impossible. And as FRPLG said, there is always the slight chance of DEI seeing the light, and giving Junior what he wants...considering that it'll be hard to recruit drivers when the company couldn't even keep their own kin.

If not for "NECKCAR" I wouldn't have the job I have with ESPN...and then I wouldn't be able to share those inside rumors about the NFL with you. Now would I? :) |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
You're right SS, NECKCAR rules!
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Jr will be heading to RCR and will ride in the Black Budweiser Select #3...count on it.
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
I think he'll go to RCR, but if I was him I wouldn't want the #3 car.

Wasn't your cousin Dale Sr.'s crew chief or something like that? |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Daddy Dale was my LEAST favorite driver of all-time.
I can't say I like this move, but hey, I'll give Jr. a chance. We know he's not a road-rager like his dad. |

No, my cousin owned a NASCAR team a few years ago and was not affiliated with the Earnhardts. Good memory though! |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Earnhardt Jr. is a big Skins fan......that would be pretty cool.
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Jr. is a huge Skins fan and is often seen at practices and games.
I have a tad more respect for the guy, any guy that holds his ground. We ain't always right but without Nads you ain't got a shot. peace |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
He'll probably go to Childress Racing. Gibbs won't let him have BUD and Hendrick's garage is already full.
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Visa is a major player here. They want to be a primary sponsor and supposedly are willing to shell out the big bucks to take over for Bud. That would clear the way for Jr. to go to JGR. That is the only way though. JGR is not going to accept Bud as a primary sponsor. RCR still has to be th odds on favorite.
Jr. is the face of Bud right now and I can't see them letting Jr. get away. He has personal services contract with them and everything. |

Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
When Joe had the McDonalds drag racing teams years ago, I was working at one of the races. He had four tractor trailers for the team parked to form a large rectangle in between the rigs. In the middle was a covered cafeteria, relaxation area for drivers, crews, and VIP's.
I rolled over to the entrance, whereby a security guy gave me a "move and I'll shank you" look. I cooled up, and responded "Joe here yet" ? He gave me that vacant rent-a-cop look. "he asked me to meet him here at............yeeesss, 2. "If he was not here, to make myself at home and wait, as he had not seen his favorite nephew in years". All was damn near in the bag until somebody WITH a brain calmly explained, that he thought my story was BS, and if it was, I would be making myself at home in the Houston lockup for the night. I was pissed for a while..............what the hell? I forgive you Joe! However, still not happy about that Christmas card thing........ |

if i had a step mom that looked like that i would be grabbing her ass. and thanks for the pic

Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
As reported on Elliot in the Morning today, supposedly Junior had dinner with Joe Gibbs and Mr. Snyder at Dan's house in Potomac. And Visa wants to become a lead sponsor...hmmmm, could it be?

She's not a blood relative...in fact, she's single now too. HA. This is sick. |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Visa would be the big fish to grab I would think.
DEI should give the kid his fricking #8 I say with all that's going on. Imagine the fan hate for that team to not let him have the number if he wanted it. I don't know if he does. I'd like to see him race for JGR personally. Good fit I say. peace |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
What DEI needs to do is realize their mistake, offer Junior what he wants, and move forward with him in charge.

This won't happen. His stepmom is as arrogant as his daddy was. I still think he heads to RCR and drives the #3. Although I would have to think about cheering for the guy if he gets in a Gibbs car. |

I doubt it will happen. I think she is willing to take a back seat and let Jr. and his siter run the show but she wants them TO PAY for the 51% share when Sr. started and built the company FOR THEM. The company, while not legally, is morally theirs and she should have realized that. To have asked for them to pay for their share is a slap in the face in my opinion. She should have simply given it to them. Greedy ass woman is going to lose a lot more money now the Jr. is gone. I am serious, they are going to go straight into the tank. Who hell would drive for them? No quality driver would. They don't put money into the operation and she has continually shown that she is simply greedy. 3 or 4 years ago they had good cars. This was in the immediate aftermath of Sr's death when they were still operating with the resources that Sr. had set up. Now she doesn't put near the resources into the team. Hell DEI uses a lot of JR racings equipment because they are too cheap to buy it themselves. That's right, Jr. lends the team his own personal equipment because she is too cheap. Seriously. There is a reason that she is known as a "deadbeat" owner. Because she is. Now she can have a deadbeat team. |

I wonder if he really will drive the 3. I know I wouldn't. |
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Oh, I know it won't happen...it's a shame that the empire Senior left will be in ruin once Junior goes elsewhere.
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
Word is he would drive the #33, not the #3
|
Re: Earnhardt to Gibbs Racing?
If he goes to RCR they should trade the 3 for the 8. Then she can have the 3 as part of DEI which seems appropriate and the 8 can continue to be Jr's. She could market the 3 and make more money off it than she could the 8 anyways. Seems fair to me. We do know she is all about the money. I don't know if that is even allowed though.
