What are our needs now?

Now that we have Fletcher and Apparently Smoot, what is our strategy now? What area would you address and who would you try to get. I am going to put future aquisitions in a matter of position and who I hope we get.

DE: Kerney (at least bring him in for a visit) or Akaika Alama- Francis (Hawaii)
DT: Alan Branch DT
LG: Leonard Davis or Andy Alleman (Akron)
CB (Depth): Travis Fisher & Josh Wilson (Maryland)
TE (2nd String): Scott Chandler (Iowa)

With Akaika I am depending on Phillips still being here a year while this kid develops, he is a great athelete

What would you do... or what do you see happening?

Re: What are our needs now?

Our needs are D-line and O-line.

I would trade down and pick one of those big pass rushers in the mid to late first round and pick the best available O or d lineman with whichever pick they get for moving down.

Use the draft to pick a blocking tight end and more O and D-line depth and please do not trade next year's picks for a wet ham sandwich this year.

He visited but hadn't signed yet - last I heard he was going to Oakland for a visit.

well we need a Gm for one thing, we got to trade down and get some young talent on this team DL,OL and TE.

I read the rumors about the skins dumping there FO once the draft is over - I hope that includes Vinnie C.

Re: What are our needs now?

I was just on ESPN's site and there doesn't seem to be any really good OL options after L. Davis and with so few draft picks we could find ourselves in a tough spot for any kind of decent depth.

Hmmm, Graham will probably be out of our price range. Johnson can't block the wind. Gaines is a big guy that could prove useful on the line with our new tackle (whoever that may be). Stevens is a worthless punk. Kelly...ehh. Wiggins is old and complains about not being utilized. Seidman, Stewart and Snow - I have nothing on those guys. Kinney is sort of intriguing as long as he's recovered from his knee problems.

Re: What are our needs now?

OG, C, DE and WR are deep in the draft. we could trade down and take a DE/DT later on and also grab an interior linemen (you can get starters as late as the 3rd round pretty reliably, sometimes even the 4th).

we have nearly no shot as wilson... while i'd love to have him, he'd probably fall in the hole between late 1st and late 2nd if we traded down. the kicker (crosby) would also be in about the same situation.

so, draft DE at 6, or trade down and take okoye/DE/OG and then DE/OG with the 2nd rounder (though its safer to take the OG later, i do REALLY like ben grubbs).

Well since we don't actually have anybody (read BODY) at LG i think that has to be priority over all else at this point.

Re: What are our needs now?

I think it's obvious that LG, DT, DE are the 3 most important (must fill) HOLES now with London Fletcher and Fred Smoot signing. Perhaps DT more than DE. Remember people were running all over us...
I had to sit there live and watch Tiki run 267 yds or whatever on us! DT then DE but #1 need is LG since Dockery's departure. I say BOO (thumbs down) to Dock! He got paid I guess...

DT / DE / G . And lets hope we can get some deals in place with Cooley and Taylor so they are not testing FA next year !! back up TE , CC gets hurt , we would really miss him . maybe throw some crazy 2 yr deal at Porter , and play a 34 defence on long ydg. plays ?

Luxorreb 03-04-2007 06:55 AM

Re: What are our needs now?

Honestly I don't think Dockery is worth the money the Bills paid.

I like Dock and think he was great learning on our OL. (which is damn good! as a team)

He went for the money and I can't blame him for that, but I know the Redskins have already made him a millionaire and they would've paid him fair. Dock can only hope to be in Smoot's shoes one day.

Redskins are Redskins!

Bills 0-4 in Superbowls! Atleast we got London Fletcher. I still want Larry Centers back!

DE- Dewayne White
S-Laron Landry (with 6th pick)
OG-Montre Holland
TE-Mark Bruener(texans/former steelers)

oh and sign Lavar for shits sake.......hahahha i know people hate that but not me i love him!!! that will take care of all our needs, esspecially the Laron Landry pick at 6, he would make our secondary unreal and gwill would beable to blitz at will again we will dominate on D once again.

he is, he's already moved from the 5th round to a high to mid 2nd rounder, where (even if we trade down) we wont have a pick. i like him too, but there's over a 95% chance it ain't happening.

Say what you want about last year's free agency period. This year we had a plan. We eyed two areas of need and filled them with known quantities.

I am very excited about the draft. We can let teams come to us!

Re: What are our needs now?

I would rather be trying to find a free agent OG than a free agent DL, CB, or MLB. I think we are in good shape and we have made some realistic pragmatic moves in free agency. We finally replaced Pierce and Smoot. We got CP for Champ. So we have made the proper corrections. We use the draft to get a DE. Golston, Montgomery, and Griffin. Andre Carter, Daniels, and #6 pick. LBs looking good. CBs looking better. Safeties with Prieaulou back looking good. I'm happy. Offense is great. The only thing you are pursuing is a bakup tight end. 6th round pick, or undrafted free agent can get you that.

Re: What are our needs now?

since we have MLB Fletcher and Apparently Smoot and the #6 pick in this year draft. We need to get the safety from LSU landry, cuz taylor needs someone who can excel with and form an deadly tandem for yeares to come. I dont see drafting an d-lineman as a need cuz when Cornelius Griffin & Joe Salave'a are healthy they pain in the ass for any team. and if u look at d-lineman that were pick in the first day they have not turn out good early as they was expected to. Anyways own front four is deadly when they are heathly so i say go wit a safe and sure pick, tha boy landry is a monster, if anyone feel diff holla at me

the DL are all like, 32 years old. joe was terrible last year and a lot of the coverage issues last year were too to the poor DL pressure and the constant injuries there. wasting such a high pick on a tertiary need when we can get a guy off the street to be okay there would be insane.

landry is great, but he's absolutely not what the skins need right now.

Re: What are our needs now?

I may be the only one to say this, but I want a veteran receiver as well. I'm not saying break the bank, but snatch one of those guys out there for a 2-3yr 4mil/yr contract or something. If one of our receivers go down, there isn't much else that we have.

I'm curious to how Mike Espy is developing.

I think our priorities are:

1)DL
2)OL
3)CB depth (one more average cb)
4)WR (one more average vet WR)

Sheriff Gonna Getcha 03-05-2007 12:17 PM

Re: What are our needs now?

1. A starting DE or DT via the draft.
2. A replacement for Dock.
3. To keep Springs, or get another bona fide starting corner.
4. Depth at TE and along the OL.

Re: What are our needs now?

Man. We're screwed. We need at least another day one pick. And without much leverage, we'll have to trade away next year's first rounder to get one. Sigh.

We need to draft Alan Branch or Jamaal Anderson in the first round and trade away next year's first round pick (I know no one likes this idea, I don't either) for a mid to high second rounder and draft a top 5 prospect OL.

Well, there is some talk that the Redskins are interested in Justin Blalock. Now, as I've suggested before I'd like to see them trade their #6 and a conditional 2008 pick to the Texans for the #8 and #39. And draft Okoye/Anderson and Wilson/Houston. However, with that #39 pick they could draft Blalock instead.

I think ultimately what will happen is they'll either try to develop Pucillo or Wade or get someone late in the draft and go under the thinking (however ill-fated it is) that if anyone can find diamond OG in the rough it's Joe Bugel.

It's good that we have Pucillo. He can play C or G. We need another guy who can swing G and T. Wade hasn't re-signed with us. Has he? And it's probably a good thing he didn't fill in too many games for Jansen because he's a great pass blocker. Hopefully teams aren't throwing $18 million signing bonuses at him too.

Wade did a real nice job filling in at OT last year when Jansen was hurt
Lets move him to guard and get younger on the d-line
